I absolutely salute you for keeping and faithfully maintaining the same vehicle through so many years! The only vehicle I ever bought new was my 2000 Ford Ranger which I took delivery in October 1999 and I still have it today with 108k miles and still operates as new. My other vehicles I typically buy at 5 years old and drive them until they are no longer fixable. Here in the Northeast, the salt used on the roads speed up that process. I feel that it is more responsible and economical to retain the same good vehicle rather than to keep upgrading. I do as much of my own work as possible including wheels and tires which I do right at home with tire machine and Snap On balancer. I dislike having any shop do anything to my vehicles unless I absolutely can't, or if it's well below freezing outside!

In 1992 Hurricane Andrew destroyed my 1970 Ford Mavrick when I had it ready for paint and had replaced the engine with remanufactured engine that was more or less useless because I had too much Hurricane repairs to do to mess with the Mavrick to find a replacement to use the engine. My 1970 Olds LS I inherieded from my gramdmother when she went to be with God I had done a reman engine but it was too badly damaged to consider fixing. I had been taking auto body repair classes at robert morgan vo tech in miami. We shopped forever and my wife demanded a highway vehicle with ample towong so we got the 1994 Astro van new and its a very handy vehicle. .

@@dennissytsma3561 We've had our 2010 Honda Odyssey since 2015 (56k miles) and I love how the rear bench seat flips and folds away into the rear floor and the two middle captains chairs pop out quick and easy. Extremely versatile van that hold a lot when it has to. Their weakness is the trans slip if not serviced properly. Honda calls for a "drain and fill" so I rigged up an irrigation pump of similar gph flow, plumbed it into the ATF lines off the cooler, have an assistant run the engine while I run the pump. Clear vinyl output hose and I can monitor when it turns mostly clean red all gets stopped and a top off. It's at 205k miles and shifts just as perfect as the day we got it! Factory maintenance programs are designed to get the vehicle to the end of the warranty period (100k miles typically) so I always go one step better/further.

A favorite method I use for removing old sealant is to either soak in a parts washer overnight then use brass wire brush, or, a plastic scraper works great without compromising any of the metal surfaces. Aviation grade Pro-Seal is some very magical stuff! I have stashed away quite a bit for personal use although it takes forever to remove after.

Sadly I lack facilities such as a shop. I'm working out of sheds and my farm house has no garage. I used to have when my dad was alive. I lost my dad;s farm in probate.

i am following. I have my 91 Astro 4.3 v6 removed. I took engine out with the exhaust manifold, value covers, intake (carb thing removed) manifold, front pulley and oil pan still intact. I see you installing the engine with out all these attached. Is there a reason to install bare engine first, assembling the rest in tight places, as opposed to assembling engine out in the open then installing?

Hi Alan. I opted to do least weight because I am working on plywood upon coral rock and my brand new hoist broke so they sent me a new one but I don't trust the welds. See my prior videos that show the hoist failure.

@@dennissytsma3561 that makes sense, hoist broke from bad factory welds. Reduce weight on boom. Thanks for videos.
