    "We’re going back to where it all began. Following the Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3(2021) board games, Resident Evil: The Board Game (2023) brings the sinister Spencer Mansion to the tabletop in a terrifying open world campaign. Based on the 2002 remake of the original Resident Evil video game, Resident Evil: The Board Game is a cooperative survival horror board game for 1-4 players.
    Built on the survival horror engine of the previous two board games, Resident Evil: The Board Game introduces a slew of new and updated mechanics to keep you on your toes. Solve ingenious new puzzles to unlock doors, build the mansion map as you explore, send non-player characters on valuable missions, and more. Setup is swift because each scenario begins with just a few tiles. As you explore and open doors, you’ll build out the map, opening new pathways and discovering useful items… and deadly enemies.
    Resident Evil: The Board Game is a campaign game playable over 27 hours, where every decision counts and has far-reaching consequences. Every resource must be managed, every bullet counted. Fighting isn’t the only way to survive. You’ll have to decide when to attack and when to flee. But you won’t always get a choice! As your campaign goes on, the mansion will evolve and the danger level will rise. The tension and encounter decks will change, adding mysterious new cards and altering the effects of old cards to make them even more dangerous. But effects don’t just happen over time. Tension cards can change enemy behaviours at any moment, making them more lethal from one turn to the next.
    Short on time? Each Resident Evil: The Board Game scenario is also playable as a 60-90 minute one-shot, for bite-sized nightmare sessions.
    In the darkness lie your fears. Can you fight them and survive?"

    Awesome tutorial, thanks for this! Just a small correction ... it says in the rulebook (pg.21) about spawning zombies, "Don't spawn enemies in the same square as the active character unless there's only one 'spawn symbol' on the tile, and the character is unlucky enough to be in the same square". I think you missed this a couple of times and spawned right were your character was standing! You made it harder on yourself ;p ... other than that great work!

    I have a group of friends that love Resident Evil and are not big board game players. Hoping to get them to the table this year with this one!

      I think once they play a game they’ll quickly see how true to the source material the gameplay is. SFG did a great job with it. My fav series from them.

      From what I've played, it's simple enough to grasp and teach, fairly quick turns so little down time, wildly fun, and has great and iconic source material which it is fairly faithful to,
      A great combo when introducing others into the board game hobby. It pairs well with the original soundtrack to boot! And please don't forget the snacks! I cannot tell you how crucial snacks have been to converting the normies

      I agree. It’s not a complex game but the action choices you make really matter in the long run. Goofing around isn’t really a thing in this as almost everything has a consequence.

    Quick correction: The four starting scenarios (1st Floor West A, 2nd Floor West A, 1st Floor East A, 2nd Floor East A) all have the Quiet Area special rule: When the Tension Deck runs out, you don't fail the scenario. Instead, you refresh the Tension Deck by shuffling the cards and creating the deck again. Just a heads up!

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s correct! I mention this in the video. Most likely the setup video. The rules off the start for the tension deck make things easier but as you go further the tension starts to mount! Love it!

      @@RollingSolo Oh, fair enough! I only got to the part where you mentioned the tension deck running out and then made the comment. But, hopefully it'll answer any questions for any newbie players watching this video and reading the comments section.

      All good! I always appreciate feedback and don’t consider my work flawless. I’m human and miss things too so feel free to mention. As long as I can help you get for the fun of the game faster. That’s the aim! 🔥

    22:31 when you were able to push the enemy, why didn't you push them through the doorway and then close the door behind you? Is using push through doorways not allowed?

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can push through doorways if you choose to from what I remember. 👍🏼

    Where did you get those door minatures? They're amazing compared to the open/close door tiles that come with the game

    Hello I feel stupid and don't have anywhere to ask but I have two questions. Question 1 you get 4 actions per turn does that mean I can attack 4 times before enemies go to react stage? question 2 if I want to knife a zombie do they have to be on the same square or the one next to me. Thank you

    • @TheSpiritedGamer
      @TheSpiritedGamer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1) yes, you can use all 4 actions to attack if necessary
      2) the knife has a range of 1, so you can attack on the same square or an adjacent one

    How do i know when to use the C item? Or how what c item to put in the c deck pile? Do i put them all in when starting a game? Or do i add to the c deck pile after completing a scenario?

      Hey! Sorry, I don’t know off the top of my head but touch on it on the video. You can also find info on BGG related to it in the forums too! There are likely comments on this video from the past to help with it as well.

    So does each character have their own turn and have to draw a tension at the end for 2 player ect instead of drawing 1 tension for both players at the end?
    When you go into a room and encounter the enemies, they only spawn on the furthest bio sign if you are standing on one correct?
    At 41:53 you draw an all clear card with an X circle symple at the bottom which would mean the dog gets an attack range of 3 and the zombie 1. (44:40)

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Each character has their own turn and goes through the phases.
      Yes the furthest. I made things difficult by making them spawn right in front of me. 😜
      Yep! Special attacks can happen based on the top card of the discard pile and it’s icon.

    Honestly, i expected this to be a mediocre game and only got it for its collectable factor, having done no research when adding it to my collection. Many board games based on other media have (for me) had a track record of being fairly lackluster at best or complete flops at worst with the rare few actually succeeding at making decent games and even fewer being great games. But lately we've seen that trend start to wane lately with MHW line, the marvel zombies line, and now Resident Evil, and is predecessors which i need to also get my hands on.
    It's quickly risen the ranks to easily become one of my top 10 games, perhaps even cracking the top 5

      It’s an awesome game and every iteration they released (in an odd order) gets better. This one is the best. RE > RE3 > RE2.

    These rules are bad thematically, if you open a door of course you should see the zombies and they see you. Doors should require 2 actions, one to open and another to immediately step into the room(if desired) either way you resolve the cards in opened room. Another example is if your character falls unconscious, zombies wouldn't just leave you alone but bite into you.

    • @RollingSolo
      @RollingSolo  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. For me they nailed the rules and the vibes of how RE play. Zombies in the video game don’t always see you when you open a door. I’ve used that to my advantage in the video game. Timing is everything.
      In a video game only one person is playing. In a board game it can be more than one, so they made it possible to revive although difficult to do so. Makes sense to me!
