      The issue with that leatherette material is that it starts to wear down and peel off after a couple of years at best.
      The earpads can be replaced but what to do about the headband? I'm facing that issue now with my current headphones and even the earpads were not designed to be replaced on these.

      If you would think of the best and worse headphones you have tried using the worse as 1 and the best being 10, how comfortable is the Corsair headphones around the ears overall? I am thinking about getting the Corsair headphone in this video but I can’t tell if my ears will fit good enough that I will like it long term. The only other think I wished they would fix would be adding Bluetooth and the SE is not as good as the glossy one which is dumb seeing as the SE is more expensive. The mic still is better than most and u can buy a small Bluetooth add-on to the headphones so the ear cups is basically the deciding factor to get it or not. If you could reply that would be great, thanks.

    This was really good. For the last year I've been using a set of Arctis Wireless Pro, but in the last week they've all of a sudden deteriorated hard. The hinge that attaches the head band to the cup pushed out of it's plastic casing and just got worse and worse as I had to keep adjusting it. Last night was the final straw as more plastic pieces broke off and the whole right side went dead as the wires got wrenched out when the headset fell off my head thanks to the very loose setup. Was very sad. Started looking for alternate headsets. Sadly it seems the Wireless Pro is the only dual wireless I can find, however, I came across the Corsairs and got interested. And this video cemented my desire to have these as my next high end gaming headset. For now, I bought a set of Arctis 1 Wireless as the new headband is more traditional and reinforced, with no stress on any hinge. When I have the cash, I'll get the Corsairs. I'll miss the hot swappable batteries and the fact that you can plug in two audio sources into the wireless base (I used the USB for the PC and an Optical In from the TV for console sound from my PS4 and Switch. Both worked at the same time). But the Corsair seems to be the better buy. Not just for the higher sound quality for when you're plugged in, but for another two reasons you didn't touch on in your video. I'm not sure about the prices back when you made this video, but currently the Arctis still sit at 550AUD while the Corsair is at 350AUD. That's a saving of 200AUD for me. To be fair, that 200 is probably for the wireless base and extra battery. Then there's the range. I had about 9 meters of range (30ft) with the Arctis until it started to break connection. The Corsair boasts double that. Which is insane. So yeah, Corsair wins it, unless I hear back from Steelseries and get a replacement headset. Don't think I will but you never know.

    • @TheProvokedPrawn

      The Provoked Prawn I agree. But I don’t want to risk another 550 on something that might break again in the same place in a year. That would be 1100 wasted on high end headphones over 2 years. Least I know the Corsair set have the usual hinge and not the absurd floating hinge most Steelseries headsets have. Might’ve been a once off but don’t want to risk it.

      I just got arctis 7. Very comfortable, really good sound. Mic on wireless will be worse than most mics that are plug ins. If you play with mic plugged in then the quality will be superior to that of wireless (comparing £20 afx wired vs arctis 7 wireless). From what ive seen corsair has better wireless mic. But in the end if you want mic quality and play wireless then just buy stand alone mic.

  • @mattv5830
    @mattv5830 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    First and foremost your reviews are really quite good and your voice is very easy on the ears. My input is as follows, I've been using Razer Krakens for years now and they've eventually just gotten to the point of broken beyond even trying to DIY fix them. I recently picked up the Virtuoso and I read about how uncomfortable they can be for some people, but I figured I'd give them a shot anyway because I liked the aesthetic and most people seemed to say the sound quality was superb.
    As it turns out they were awful for me to wear (my ears are not really that big either), even after 45 minutes to an hour I found myself constantly shifting them around to try and find a spot that felt bearable. On top of that I found the sound to be sort of lackluster, I'm not sure if it's because I'm used to wearing a wired headset but it just didn't do it for me. I feel like the overall vocal clarity on the Virtuoso just isn't really there (admittedly the bass was not bad though), my years old Krakens actually produce a better (cleaner sounding) vocal clarity. The positional audio also sounded a little off to me (mostly tested it in Tarkov and Overwatch). The mic though is absolutely exceptional on the Virtuoso.
    I can't get the XT's in my country but I'm returning the Virtuoso and am looking to pick up the Arctis Pro wired version which will hopefully prove to be better, they definitely appear to be more comfortable if anything. My main sticking point here though is comfort is a serious deal breaker and definitely important to consider when picking up a premium headset that you intend to use for long periods of time, don't end up regretting it like me because I liked how the headset looked.

      @@TheProvokedPrawn you also keep referencing 40 kilohertz versus 96 but you're confusing the two. 20Hz-40,000Hz is the audio range for the Virtuoso but 10Hz-40,000Hz is the range for the Arctis. The Arctis can produce a deeper bass note.
      The sampling rate of 24bit/96kH in USB wired vs 16bit/48kHz wireless is a totally different thing, it doesn't allow the drivers to make sounds they couldn't make in wireless. Think of a set of stairs. If you have 48,000 stairs going 1 mile high or 96,000 stairs going one mile the 96k will have smaller steps. In audio terms those smaller steps will result in finer tuning, crisper sound. All wireless options are limited to 16bit/48kHz if they're using 2.4gHz tech (most wifi and all Bluetooth is 2.4gHz). Both can be used ugged in for the higher sampling rate.

    Got the razer kaira pro ps5 with haptics and RGB. I love them! They have the bt and removable boom mic with built in one as well. Great sound and haptic on low is great for positioning gaming and extra bass for music and movies. Sweet headset. Horrible customer service. Wait until it’s available on Amazon. I ordered right from razer and luckily got a good one. But had some simple questions and was like pulling teeth with them. Works while charging and special dongle for ps5 to not block other port. Stay safe. But beside their customer service headset is great!!!

    i’m in a huge predicament, i play on PS4 and want the Virtuoso’s mainly for its 40K Hz audio quality but... i’ve seen quite a few reviews on its bass saying that it’s not that good. pro cod player Crimsix is the only person i’ve seen use these which is also on PS4 but i’m really not sure what to do. I'd love to try the Virtuoso after this review, but my arctis pro wireless + peace APO is something else. I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile buff. But, I know a thing or two and they['re fantastic for a wireless approach. I use the Music equalizer + my own peace APO settings and it's something else. Very crisp, and clear (I took the time to dial in my own settings, not use settings found online)
    I'd love a wired setup, but wireless is so nice and its hard to beat in terms of comfort etc. Like I said, don't get me wrong. I prefer a wired setup all day, but this headset nails it. My only gripe is the mic, it's not that great for a $330 headset. I already planned on getting the modmic wireless, as I had the modmic 4 with my other setup.

    Both hurt my ears. And not because they're too loud. Arctis pro has a terribly designed head band that doesn't fit my oversized noggin and the clamping pressure is enough to squeeze bits of my brain out of my nose. And the Corsair looks and sounds great but the interior diameter of the ear cushions doesn't provide enough space for my large elven ears, and the ear cups / cushions are so shallow that my ears are constantly touching the wall of the drivers on the inside of the ear cup resulting in me crying softly each time I wear them for over 30 minutes. If you're looking for a large headset to accomodate your above average size (giggity, ladies) then I'd recommend the Astro A50, with an appropriately relatively large price tag.
