    Banger of a video as always. And I like how you did not bother stating aesthetics at all because it does feel like other reviewers tend to take a biased opinion on certain headsets just from the way they look.

    Ooh, finally something that can replace my Steelseries AWP. Penrose have mixing issues, and the EPOS Sennheiser GSP 670 can't play sound from the bluetooth and wireless at the same time. But this one seems to be a good replacement for the AWP.
    EDIT: Wait, AWP built like a tank?! You must have gotten absurdly lucky, I've had them break on me after 1 year of usage, replaced them, then a year later, now, they're breaking again. Cups detaching from the headband is a well known issue. A lot of people are complaining about it.

    I'm rocking a Virtuoso SE which is basically the same thing minus bluetooth, 2 years so far and battery is still around the 12 to 15 hour duration and I use them daily since I work from home so I can say these have been put though thousands of hours of music, voice chat and gaming, and at least 200 charging cycles. My biggest advice is getting some custom earpads that are made for this model, they are on Amazon and are like 35$ for 2 pairs, get whichever because by the year the original earpads that came with it fell apart but these new ones are much more comfortable and have shown no sign of deterioration almost a year later. I kinda want to buy the XTs just because the Bluetooth is nice to have and the cables that came with this are nothing sort of amazing quality but I hate buying things that I don't need and these are still good to go for another 2 more years, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if these reached 5 years still being solid.

    Great, thorough review! Thanks! I am purchasing the Virtuoso XT soon!
    EDIT: The Arctis Pro, though perhaps superior in some ways, is VERY FRAGILE! The cheap plastic where the headband attaches to the headphone breaks easily and seems to be a common problem! I hope steelseries fixes that! Based on durability alone, I have to go with the Virtuoso XT, just for longevity!

      Yeah. I had the Arctis 5. There's always seems to be a slight static every time I use the volume rocker. Started to get really annoyed after it happens every time. Had it for almost 2 years. One day I had enough of the static noise, I just tap slightly hard on both side of the drivers (where it's covered by "plastics." Then after that, the sound from behind gave out on me. I could still hear sounds from both side, but not when there's sound from behind. It's weird and it's cheaply built also.

    I previously used bluetooth Bowers and Wilkins for everything but I was having some issues with games cutting out recently so I decided to look for a dedicated gaming headset. I ended up going for the Corsair XT and I'm happy with them. I loved the old Steelseries Pro but have never been that impressed with the newer Arctis line, I owned a couple of pairs and they were pretty flat sounding with really crap options for EQ in the software. I already have iCue installed for my case components so I ended up going Corsair instead. I also tried the Logitech Wireless Pro X, the microphone is awful and the audio quality isn't particularly good.

    • @denn15m8
      @denn15m8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah all the SteelSeries sound terrible at every price point. I think I'm going to get one of these next as they seem to have everything going for them except if you have big ears as the cups are a little small, but for me it's not an issue.

    Good to hear your Arctis Pro Wireless (APW) are still going strong after 3 years. I am transitioning from the Astro A50 Gen 3 that I have had since 2017. The base on the A50 connects intermittently to my PC and it is getting worse and also the battery needs to changed since it is not holding a charge long. I was considering the APW but there are numerous posts on the web with pictures showing the mounting point of the head band at the ear cup (speaker) being cracked in as little as 1.5 years. Reading and seeing those pictures gives me pause before spending $349 (current price at Best Buy) for the APW. I tried the Corsair Virtuoso XT but like you I have a large / wide head and find them to be uncomfortable. I was not a big fan of the shallow sound of the stock or out of the box EQ setting. Surprisingly when I used the Dolby Access and incorporated my own EQ setting I found I liked the Virtuoso XT sound. Great review.

    Hi there! Awesome video man! have two questions?? First question is can I use the Virtuoso XT for my Xbox Series X console? On Best Buy for “compatibility” says PS5/PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch and Mobile. I don’t see anything for Xbox Series X. Second question is can I save the EQ Preset settings from software onto the headset? That way I can use them on my Xbox Series X when playing games.

  • @gigolocalypsetv5520
    @gigolocalypsetv5520 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I have both the Arctis Pro Wireless and the XT and use them on a PS5, primarily. On that platform the XT can't hold a candle to the Arctis Pro Wireless, specifically because you cannot EQ the XT on anything except PC. With that, they are quiet and flat compared to what you can do with the transmission box the APW has. It let's you EQ an already good set of cans, that I've had for over 2 years, and make the sound more of your own. Plus they are a bit louder, after the latest firmware update, than the XT so that's another notch for the APW. If I were a PC user, the XT would probably win out, but as a console pleb, the APW is the way to go.

    • @gigolocalypsetv5520
      @gigolocalypsetv5520 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Update: Currently doin a lot of Crossplay with Destiny 2, and using Discord to chat. I have to say the Bluetooth implementation of the APW is actually quite better than expected. SHORE, you need to adjust the volumes of each channel, on the lil box, but you can do that from the headset. While running Bluetooth, you just click the volume wheel to toggle between the main audio, and Bluetooth audio, and mix them as you see fit. I have my box sitting next to my tv, about 8ft from where I sit, and easily mix my chat with a couple wheel clicks and turns without having to get up. Still not as set up as the Corsair, but still very nice

    Nice review. The big problem I have with my Arctis Pro Wireless Bluetooth is that after using Bluetooth, even when I turn Bluetooth off, the volume wheel on the headset wants to adjust Bluetooth volume. Disconnecting and reconnecting the base station seems to make it go back to adjusting the 2.4 GHz volume like I want it to, but I'm not sure what the "official" way is supposed to be.

    Hey Brian, out of curiosity, does your Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless have any audible white noise/hissing sounds? I just received my 3rd replacement and they've all had it. Just not too sure if I've been super unlucky with a bad batch or that's just the flaw with this particular headset.

    Honest advice from someone who has bought/tried almost everything:
    For wireless, just buy a pair of Arctis 1 Wireless for Xbox. They work on every single platform available.
    Add Brainwavz Microsuede pads (oval).
    Use SteelSeries software to EQ to up sub-bass, and remove midbass bloat.
    I end up using them more than my Senns, Beyers, AKGs etc.
    They sound harman-esque to me, they're stupid comfy, very low latency and the dongle works with everything.

    As usual, I love the review. I'm curious what size head Brian has, as I don't really have any issues with the Virtuoso's myself. Then again, I don't make these big brain reviews so I can imagine there's a difference.
    I've used the Arctis 7 before I switched to the Corsair Virtuoso. I miss the 'volume mixer' concept of the Arctis where Chat and Game audio are two separate devices, and I really appreciate that being mentioned in the review! Why don't all headsets have this? The build quality of the Virtuoso is on a different level, and especially after using the Arctis for a few months I noticed the elastic headband was starting to stretch. You can readjust it up to a certain extent but I found it to be less comfortable somehow. I don't see that being a problem for the Virtuoso's though.

  • @Clyoza

    You really need to check out the SteelSeries arctic 9 next cause I feel like those are probably just slightly better than the xt. I'm mentioning this because I have any seen you talk about the arctis 9 but you did talk about the arctic pro which u said had a detriment to where the volume was on the dock and not the ear cups. The last thing is that none of the combo Bluetooth headsets have 2 sets of mics which i feel like is definitely implementable that i feel u can mention. THis is because what if i wanna take this out make these my outdoor headset and having that mic kinda stic out is just not worth it. Some people can and will prefer to have ALL their stuff be done off the one headset. Imagine if it had built-in mics and the detachable I could totally wear these out ona commute.

    @Badseed Tech how do you keep all the colourful lights from overexposure. Trying to do a similar lighting style in my streams but all I have is a Logitech Brio and a warm coloured desk lamp. Send help.

    Sound aside, the XT is so much better fitting than the SE. The SE felt like I had a clamp on my head. The XT has a slight tightness on the top of the head band but only noticeable after several hours of gaming / watching media

    What would have made these perfect for me is if they added a built in mic that works when in Bluetooth so when connected to my phone I can use to answer calls while just using them as a normal headset.

    I for one, love your audio stuff and wish you'd do more, especially blue tooth.
    If ever we get Panda killer with better head padding so it isn't painful and which also interfaces well with PC and meeting apps, I want to know, regardless of price. Heaven forbid it has a killer mic and on headset dual channel control.

    I had to return these when they first came out because they smiley hurt my ears due to the shallow cups and shape of them. Looks like these still don’t fix the original issues. Sad cause they did sound great and the mic was really good! Just sad Corsair didn’t listen to customer feedback

    Fun fact, my m30x marketed as 20khz can push past 23khz, I couldn't tell you how far past that since I do not have any program that can play that high and my hearing completely stops sometime after that
    but I've had experience with a pair that did cut out around 14k
    Also most audio ever put in music is usually ranging from 0-16khz not 20khz, it rarely ever reaches that point

    I'm still not sure why people praise the Logitech Pro X so much, back when I had them they needed a tuned EQ and the USB DAC to even compete against my old Corsair HS50, and they still lost in the bass and sound quality to the HS50, which were 1/3 of the price.
    That was why I bought the Hyperx Cloud Orbit S (which themselves are reskined Audaze Moebius) to replace the Pro X, which sounded incredible. But since the Orbit was made entirely of plastic, they brooke down easily, which lead me to buy the Corsair HS60 Haptic as a in between solution until I could buy something else (even though they sound fine).
    Now i'm waiting for the Virtuoso XT to arrive, which from all I can see combines good sound (the edge that the Orbit had), a good mic (the ONLY thing the Pro X had going for them) and the built quality that corsair usually has, while being wireless.

    The fact it doesn't add 2 devices in the windows sound mixer is a deal breaker for me. I need to be able to mix audio sources like spotters, discord, music separately from the game audio via a hardware physical knob. Not being able to change chat audio level on the fly will become really annoying if I have to keep using macros or other cheats to do it. I was almost going to buy these as well as the sound and feel great.

    I got the se version a while ago. Watched your review, but thought since I had a smaller head and ears the comfort would be fine. IT WAS NOT FINE. I had to get brainwavs earcups within two days of owning. So painful. For that reason only I never recommend to my friends who are looking for wireless. Also it took like 15 mins to squeeze the ear pads on the cups. AND the tabs on the cups broke after about 3 months( I assume from the bigger earcups). Avoid the se version....
