  • Bought Behrs All-In-One Wood Cleaner for decks from Home Depot.
This was my first time using this product, went over the deck twice.
4 years of algae, mold, mildew and weather makes a deck look horrid.
I found the cleaner to work well the second time around but there were still some algae mold and mildew left behind.
Percentage wise I would say its 80% algae free.
The Muftons rating out of 5 stars will have to be 3 out 5 stars.
Here's the link from Home Depot
    www.homedepot....
Stay tuned for a follow up.

Wet it, scrub with 3qts water, one scoop oxyclean, dish soap.. rinse off.. spray bleach or add with roller for bleach I’ve used it w/o diluting.. or using 1qt to 5gal bucket.. I add to the already wet deck. I let set several hours before rinsing. My deck on this home we bought hadn’t been cleaned in over 10yrs and is on the verge of being too bad to even save. Nope! Bleach after oxy mixture worked beautifully! Looks Bran new!

You would have had better success using a hand pump sprayer to apply the cleaner. Wait 10-15 minutes after applying, then vigorously scrub the area with a floor brush. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose or pressure washer (even a low psi electric type works well at that point, after the chemicals have loosened the dirt, algae, etc). Also, focus on a smaller area at a time (4 ft square), instead of trying to coat the entire deck at once. That would keep the last areas from drying out by the time you got over to them to scrub. I am sure you would have only had to do this once if you followed that recommended procedure.

you need to use 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner. It works much better and I usually dont even need to scrub it at all

@@horizon2667 All I know is that it makes my deck and fence look brand new, usually without even scrubbing. Spray on, let it sit, spray off....

Forget everything you've ever heard from everyone else and buy purple Power at Walmart. Then buy one of those cheap foam cannons for around $30 hours at Lowe's or Home Depot that snaps into the end of your pressure washer and use the pressure washer on very low pressure to activate the foam Cannon and spray the purple Power all over your deck and railings and everything else. No scrubbing required just let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes and then use the pressure washer on low pressure to rinse it off so that you don't tear up the wood.

I have a painting business and I also refinish cedar siding on homes and fences and decks and do this all the time. For cedar siding that is much worse I mix my own commercial chemicals and deep clean and then neutralize the wood before staining.

I used the same stuff a year ago... in my opinion it's no better really than dish soap which i'm literally doing today... results look the same and I saved money.

Sodium per carbonate which is more or less oxy clean is also great because it does not destroy any grass or bushes in the meantime.

    Is this mold or algae?
I have this same stuff on my deck and since spring started I've been having respiratory issues.
    I want to use vinegar.
I just wish I knew if this is what's causing my problems lately.
I've never had allergies so I'm wondering!

Hello, sorry for the delay, I've been a little busy to say the least. Respiratory issues, I'm no doctor but I would suggest you see a doctor. Our deck was more like algae as our back yard backs on to a marsh where there is a river.

I had a guy to stain my deck a few months back. The part that is under the roof is really sticky. Is their anyway to fix that problem.

Cathy Keaton The person that sealed your deck applied to much stain should have wiped off the the excess stain to make sure the deck dries uniformity Unfortunately too much time passed I do not believe there is any remedies now. You can try to use a bit of paint thinner to wipe off the excess. Or better yet give the a call to the person that restored your deck and ask him to rectify the problem.
