Medical cloth tape is excellent. Provides insulation from the cold levers and help increase “feel” when your fingers are cold. Pick it up at your local drug store and it’s cheap.
Best anti fog goggle you will get is take a pair of your old goggles that you don't care about and pull all the foam from the bottom and top(NOT THE FACE FOAM). The goggle will vent so well they will out last any dual pain lens. This is for cold weather, rainy weather and even snow riding (Anywhere that dust isn't a issue)
Also, hot hands are activated by air. If you put them somewhere that is getting hit with alot of wind while your riding they will get hotter. Could be something you do on purpose or maybe you want to avoid getting too hot/sweaty. Jusy something to keep in mind.
That's what I'm talking about! When i first looked in to Merino, I read about the New Zealand sheep. It's pretty amazing stuff. I've always wondered if there is a big difference in merino quality between the brands. I've definitely noticed some feel softer than others. -Chase
I have a super warm flannel hoodie with a Canadian maple leaf on the back. I raced my final 3 rounds where we had temps from 5 degrees celcius to -10 degrees celcius. Loved it so much I got my name and number printed on the back like a race jersey 😂. But seriously guys. I’m looking at trying those Klim waterproof socks. They look great
Here in Sweden it gets pretty cool in winter so we have a pair of gym shorts between the motocross pants and the base layer. thanks for the good content!
I’m about to head out in 9 degrees Fahrenheit up in northern Wyoming. I wear my snowboard gear. Burton AK pants, Burton AK jacket, under armor base layers top and bottom, smart wool socks, and I wear Ariat work hog cowboy boots in the winter, DEWALT makes great winter gloves for under $20 and they keep my hands warmer than my $250 snowboard gloves. I wear latex gloves underneath. I have a thin balaclava and then a full on neoprene face mask and hand guards are key. I carry hand warmers in my pack and the means to make a fire if I need to because I’m out there by myself. Also I carry an emergency hand crank light with a phone charger as well as a tactical flashlight, extra plugs, tools, Co2 cartridges and tire repair kit, extra fuel canister. Don’t go out there unprepared. The hot hands are awesome and can save your ass. Bring fluids as well, I have a camelback 2.0 liter in my pack. Good video.
I might have to try that Fox Legion gear! Gets pretty cold here on the coast of Wales, so in the winter sadly my Fox 360 gear stays in my gear bag 😂 leg warmers and a gillet are great, I use Mechanix gloves for winter as they keep my hands pretty warm!
Casey, the legion gear is pretty rad. The jersey is still pretty slim, so i'd make sure to have a good jacket too. This soft shell is my favorite jacket-it blocks the wind, is warm, easy to ride in, and I wear it ALL THE TIME as a casual jacket. Worth every penny.-Chase
Casey Lee Take a look at the brand Klim, much better quality than fox in my experience. They have a lot more options than fox as well, maybe worth a look.
@@Jabooty_Williams how are you not burning your hands? I remember when I was younger and had a crf125 I would burn my self all the time because I fell. Multiple pairs of pants and gloves burned
I ride consistantly in single digit weather and I'll tell you what, you cant beat a scarf. You put the scarf over your mouth (not over your nose) down to your neck then put the helmet on carefully. I never leave the house without it. Thank me later.
I use my snomobile gear i find its best for riding here in canada especially when the snow is 2-3ft deep and -20 -30, good video but i dont think this is the cold weather riding video i was looking for, think i might stick to my snomobile gear
Love the Video. i know its a year old. but I am hopeful someone can chime in and tell me where you are riding at? I live in saratoaga springs, Ut and finding a good place to ride right now is tough.
This was a place in Elberta but is now closed off. Cherry creek or 5 mile pass is awesome. I'm not talking about the main turnoff to 5 mile. Go pass that and go out into the flats and find some good turn tracks. They're everywhere out there. You can see lots of them on google earth. - Chase
Which type of body armor are you referring to? Any chest protector and roost guard can be worn under or over the jersey (rider preference). But as for a body jacket, I would ware that underneath a jersey. - Chase
I agree with you about the merino wool, i m mtb er and i like to ride winter, i have lot of m wool base layer its hands down the best material to riding winter its a bit more expensive than the synthetic materials.
Yeah, it definitely isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for with base layers. I haven't found anything even close that wicks moisture and doesn't stink. The ani-odor is my favorite part. My brother and I wore it for the first time several years ago on an archery hunt and we were blown away that we could wear it all day, sweat our butts off and after letting dry overnight, you couldn't even tell you wore them the entire day before. Good stuff.-Chase
Yep! We talk a little about that in here. I've done it before. It works well til you take them off, then you hands can get kinda cold haha. Thanks for watching-Chase
What’s a “BaLaClava” !??! Why can’t we just say face or ski mask at this point!?!?!? Those hand guards also double as satellite dish when your ready to watch some tele !! ThNks RMATVMC....... #94 for top spot in TX!
A cold weather tip from Norway is to cover your clutch and brake leaver with something insulating. I use electrical tape..
That seems like it work great and I haven't seen that before. Thanks for chiming in!
-Jordan
I think MSR makes rubber lever covers. They work well.
You'll get rubber lever covers on eBay very cheap, I just bought some for £2.

That's not a bad idea. never thought of doing that.
Areas that get unbelievably cold in the first few minutes of riding 1. neck 2. hands
Fax
Balaclava gloves
Winter is my favorite time to ride.
I don’t even know why I’m watching this when I live in SoCal
You are so lucky i live in Illinois and the winter has been brutal
Big Bear has a four season climate. So Cals winter playground
A buff is also awesome for riding in the cold its like a balaclava but you put it around your neck
I love your channel thanks for all the tips
Thanks for watching! -Chase

I vote for Merino I live in New Zealand we grow some of the finest Merino wools in the world. You can’t beat Merino!

where’d you get the hoodie
@@Jack-jd6tj No idea. It was one of those hand me down sort of deals. It’s just Gildan branded so someone probably got it custom made. Not sure though

Thanks for the input!
Some kind of hot thin soup is great to have as well, something as simple as chicken broth
Hot water with bullion cubes!
Thank you for the cold weather riding tips as I can't go a day without dirt bike riding !
I did a trail ride on my CRF80F today. It was very cold and wet but I had a lot of fun.

That track/ trail looks sick!
It's sooo fun. And it's only 15 minutes from our headquarters!-Chase
You can also put the warmer in your gloves (not palm side)! Tried it once and it worked fine for me!
I haven't tried that before. Does it make the glove fit super tight? I'd imagine it does.-Chase
I have thin gloves that stretch easily so for me it wasn’t tight or annoying at all!
100% Brisker/Hydromatic gloves combined with hand guards is a must for cold weather riding.
are they actually good or no
Those gloves don't work at all for me. Even when it's just above freezing, I get very cold hand very quick. Gauntlets is the way to go.
6:32 CHASE: "...but still offer some good warmth for the hams" ME: "Did he just say HAMS!?" (sorry Chase)
have a nice day
I love RMATVMC. That is all.
Thank you. That is all.
In 06 Thor sent me some of the best winter gear ever made of super soft fleece like material so they gotta have them now
What was it called? Are you saying the pants and jersey were fleece lined?-Chase
Shrink wrap on the levers works good

I guess you forgot tear offs and roll offs in case of rain/mud !! Other than that AWESOME video guys, keep it up please 👌🏻👍🏻💪🏻
Great suggestion! Thanks for watching!
A decent warm up before you go riding Longer than If it was a Warner day.but you should always warm up
Definitely a solid tip. Thanks for chiming in!
Latex gloves under gloves is an amazing idea! Thanks!
Like than watch! Love your Videos!❤❤❤
Merry valentines
If you’re on a 2 stroke use your expansion pipe as a hand warmer haha
I'm on a kx450f and I use my pipe as a hand warmer lmao. If you have any exposed pipe this works.

You can also get helmets with a remove able face piece in it to block cold wind from hitting your face and i think fly racing makes one
Those 100% briskers gloves are amazing!
Maybe above 0 celsius, 32F. Below that and they are cold and you need real gloves. Snowmobile gloves are 1000x better.
Yeah that’s called snowmobiling with snow gloves.

Where are you guys riding in the vid? Cherry Creek? I need some winter riding.
Jon Atwater this is out near Elberta
Where is this track you guys are riding at? Looks like just public land but don’t know where it is

Grocery bags do the same thing inside the boot haha
Build the wall 👍

What kind of wool did you say? I heard some kind of wool but not the kind?
Merino wool
35 degrees that’s cute lol come up to NY 35 is spring weather
Was this at 5 mile?
No. Out in the desert past Santaquin.
Where is the place you are riding in this video?
This is near Elberta, Utah.
Airflaps.com for your goggles it will keep the fogging down
70 views? That’s it? I would’ve thought for sure this vid had at least 500k views lol.
So no protection?
All the gear we talked about is meant to be worn with protection. But there isn't much cold weather protection gear for mx.
Wearing blue rubber shop gloves under your normal ones acts like a wet suit to keep your hands warm

Balaclava is a balaclava. Take it or leave it.
It's like baklava but not as sweet , lol .
When you sweat you get cold.
Best anti fog is spit!
Stay away from anything cotton
