Do I regret buying the John Deere 1023E instead of the John Deere 1025R?

  • So this is less of a comparison and more of one guy's opinion on a decision that was made and the thoughts about it almost two years later. 1023E or 1025R, no clear answer, it depends on your needs and budget.

    “Don’t loan your tractor out, that’s crazy talk, just go do the work for them, it’s gonna be a better deal for you!” Soooo true! Same goes for your truck in my book!

      Yep, tractor, truck and wife, you don't loan out any of them🤣, I could even say trailer, but I do have one friend I loan the trailer to and that's it, he's good for it. But these loaning stuff out stories usually all end the same way, usually in regret...said to say, plus I don't mind helping people. Thanks for watching.

    Your not wrong like you I came from garden tractors I had the 300 and 400 series ( 316,318,322,332) had all 4pp series had a 445 I did go with the x758 and I loved it it will ow anything and be way better for mowing then a 1023e
    2021 I ended up getting a 1025r 4months later I had a 2038r
    My x758 had a rear pto, 3pt 54in deck I brush hog with it and will never forget it
    2019 I paid 14600 for a x758 and mower deck now there almost 20k

      Certainly advantages to both, but the 1023E was thousands cheaper, based on them running serious deals on the 1 series and no deals on teh X7 series. Thanks for watching.

    I just purchased a 1023 with a front bucket, 60” mower deck, & snow pusher. I have a small commercial building with a 10,500 sq ft parking lot. I have already cleared the remaining snow off. It pushed 4-6” of snow with no problem. Can’t wait to use this thing for future projects.

    I have a 2002 x595; love it! Attachments: 🌨️ Snowblower 🌨️, 54" blade, 54" Mower Deck & Triple Bagger, Fertilizer Spreader & JD 1500 Cart. Mistake I made was NOT getting the #45 JD Bucket/Loader! Never thought I'd "ever need it". As the saying goes; " Never say never". Future Attachments: Innovative Tractor Attachments LLC Grapple & of course the bucket. The JD #45 if I can find one otherwise I have to go through the short list I created & hopefully pick out the right one! CTC, Johny, Buford (impressive but limited height) and there was 1 I just found on the Loaders website.
    I recently read somewhere that one of the 700 series; x738, x739 has a smaller frame than the x595. As a result the bucket wasn't offered as an option.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brendan, I agree, had I gotten a X595 or very similar instead of a GT235 back in 2003, I would probably still have it today, but my search lead me, despite being an L&G guy to the 1 series based on price. And I don't know that the frame was smaller or not with the current X700 s the older X5X5 series but I had heard that Deere was basically pushing people to get a 1 series over the X700, eliminating the need for a ROPS on the X700. The 1023E is a hair bigger than the X700/X595 no doubt, I like the Super GT size, but to equip it the way I have the 1023E equipped would have set me back at least another $4-5000 or so. Having said that, the prices of the 1 series have skyrocketed lately, so I'm not sure my comparison about these tractors is as valid as it was. Even since I posted just 7-8 months ago, the price of 1 series have gone crazy. I haven't kept track of the X700 series. But again, had I gotten a X485-X595 back in 2003, I never would have looked at the 1 series, those tractors are super cool. Thanks for watching.

    I sometimes thought about it. My regret was not getting loader right away. I have a 4720 for digging, so why did I need a loader? Got 1023e for mowing, but the little machine gets to places I have to hand dig otherwise. The three point adjust was the only thing I miss, but was not at a concern when I bought it. Still happy with it. Added loader, 3rd function, rear SCV, foam filled tires.

    2016 I purchased the 1023e. H120 loader. Oversize material bucket. 260 backhoe. 8 inch wrenching bucket. Hla snow push. Everything I needed for 2 years of projects. The unit paid for itself vs the quotes I received for a 1/2 acre lot. It's what I needed and did everything I asked. I thought I would sell it when I completed the yard. No way. Never had a issue . The 1025r would have done the same jobs for an extra $2500. If the tractor you want is on your bucket list, don't look back and wish you had .

    I bought the 1023e because it is a tractor, not a caddy. I’m not on my tractor for hours on end everyday, so suspension seat, arm rest, cig outlet etc are of no use to me. The R is nice if the cost diff was about $500, other than that the E does everything the R can do.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, I kind of felt the same way. Were there some options I wanted, yep, did I want to pay the $2500 for the two I wanted, nope. But if I was up north or needed some of the other options, it may have been worth it, to each his own. Thanks for watching.

      That is the single best thing I like about the 1025R with a close second being the 3 pth position control. I just purchased the 1025r with the backhoe attachment. I love it, But was back and forth on the 23 and 25 but I just felt that paying that much money for something may as well get the bells and whistles. although way over priced. The big thing for me was the control for the 3 point hitch didn't like the way its either up or down it snaps back to the middle. plus I financed mine 0% interest, and made very little difference in the payment amount.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, it all breaks down to how you will use the tractor and what your willing to pay for that. I actually did break down and buy a grapple in the last week. I was on a few jobs where getting off the seat got old so I was able to work out getting both the grapple and the hydraulic diverter from Summit for under $2000. Now I need to install it. The 3 point control was a nice feature that I would use, but the cost of the others as a package was too high. But if you use the others, then it becomes a better deal for sure. Thanks for watching.

    I have a 3032e. More power than I need for 20 acres of property. Have a loader, landscape rake, loader forks and full cab enclosure. It has heat and nice fans for summer. Hitched up a 12 volt source in cab. I have my phone in a holder and tunes 😢playing all day. These are not economy tractors, they are tools. Strong and powerful. “R” series are for those that spend all day in the cockpit. This is their office. Do making it like home is the way it should be. That’s were they spend their lives. • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The part I have is a John Deere part and only has one circuit. I think it's not compatible with a power beyond as I understand it. However, Summit has a 2, 3 or 4 circuit electro 3 SCV unit you can get that connects through a power beyond. Tractor Time With Time has a video on it. The cool thing is that it allows for extra circuits, whereas mine is only one extra circuit, the downside maybe is that you have to have the Power Beyond and that if the Power Beyond is not hooked up, you can't use the system. Also thanks for watching.

      What do you know about the bucket/loader no longer being offered for subcontract tractors (x595). I commented earlier & have a short list I'm going to go through if I can't get the JD #45. Do you have any other recommendations?
      Not too often I see someone from the factory on TH-cam. Ha! I'm going to share an idea with you; one I've had for years. Deere should make a 🐊 Crocodile 🐊 "Croc". Big Brother to the Gator, 25% larger in physical size, hydraulic, attachments: 🌨️ snowblower 🌨️, grapple, sweeper etc. Engine? Take it out of one of you're CTL's / skid steers. Should be at least 60 hp!
      I'm 25 miles west of Boston; on a 10 acre + piece of property. Winters are split 50/50 between dry & wet snow. My father used to say that it gets colder every year. He was right! Sitting out there on a x595, January night, 18° with winds blowing 30 mph +; it's down right cold! Just is 😓 😰 🥶! Gator is clunky to plow with, 🐙 octopus🦑 wouldn't have any issues. Really surprised a "Crocodile" hasn't made a grand appearance with Deere. Bobcat is pushing their Toolcat, Kubota is now promoting their x 1000 C I believe. Two different connects for front attachments; PTO & I now forget the other? One stick has 9 round buttons on it, more I have to find out about I guess. I am going to buy that 333G though. Two different on going applications in my yard. One you already know about; snow removal Comfortably & downed trees. Have about 30 down; several are in the river; ugly. I average 3 - 5 a year on the ground, that's the way it is. Ideally I'll leave the bucket on the 333g for the winter, blower on the Kabota x1000 C (sorry) & put the blade on my x595 for the wet snow.

      @@brendanperry6429 CTC is the only game in town now for loaders for these tractors, at least the newer ones, you can eventually find a 45 for the X595. I would steer clear of the Johnny buckets of the world and mini-loaders. In my opinion and others will differ, the geometry just isn't right on the mini-loaders. All the weight up front....IN FRONT of the front axle, not even over it. Even if the hydraulic power is there to lift, I can't imagine it not making the tractor extremely unstable to operate. Plus I don't think there is a huge savings between the two. If I ever get a loader for the 322, it will likely be a CTC, lifetime warranty and new doesn't hurt and picking up a 45 would be almost as much. I hope that answers your question about loaders. @@FloridaDeere Thank you so much for getting back to me; you obviously know what you're talking about! There's a TH-camr who makes one; Buford it's called, I assume out of Georgia. Appears to be well made, reach is an issue though. I need to put manure in the back of my brother's GMC pick up truck; Buford I don't think would reach. I just found another one; Westendorf on Loaders period then the 3 letter word. Heard of them, like them, don't like them?

    I like your videos, but could you do us a favor. When you overlay text on the screen, could you leave it up just a few seconds longer.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man, I try to always work that out. The overlay provides enough time for short messages, but you are right, I don't always extend my longer "editorials" like I should. The funny part is I am a slow reader, so generally if I do extend them, they are probably good for nearly everyone Dusty. But I will try to pay more attention to that. I'm rather not wild about the editing part and sometimes rush through it, but you are right, it is frustrating when you have to remind and/or pause to get the whole message. I will work on that for sure. Also, I appreciate your comment as well as the critique, both encourage me to do better. Again, thanks for watching, Happy Thanksgiving.

      Yeah John, I agree, I simply got super lucky looking for the tractor at just the right time I guess. As a side note, I did ask the salesman if they would take any less. While he didn't laugh in my face, he did say, he had never seen them lower and at the time it seemed like a good deal, but since the pandemic, it was a great deal. Thanks for watching.

    So in your opinion is this tractor better than Kabota BX series

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, to be fair, I could have gotten either tractor I figure, but also being fair, I've always been a "Deere" friend, so I might be a little bias. Overall, I think the JD has some advantages but the Kubota probably has some too. I think both brands are top notch and both retain a large following of brand loyal folks. I wanna say the BX is a tid smaller, but I could be mistaken. It's almost like JD and Kubota got to together and designed their brands a 1/2 tractor segment off of each other. Does that answer your question? LOL. Thanks for watching.

    is it worth getting a palet fork for the 1025R or does it not lift enough

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they are worth having but they are small tractors and certainly do have limited range as far as forks go. I use mine as a poor man's grapple as well to spear piles of brush and such and to pick up things the bucket has trouble with. Thanks for watching.

    The 2 tractors only have a 2.5hp difference. I'll bet they both use the same engine.
    If so, I'll bet it is real easy to get the other 2.5hp out of the 1023 engine.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  ปีที่แล้ว

      They actually have different engines, the 1023E a 1.0L Yanmar and the 1025R a 1.3L. But they are similar enough to run basically all the same equipment. It boils down to do you need all the extras a 1025 offers. If yes, buy one, but if all you need/want is the basic tractor, then a 1023E will likely work just fine. Thanks for watching.

    I don't understand why more people don't go the route you go. I could never understand paying over $10,000 for basically a lawn mower with a bucket, when for pretty much the same comparable price you can get a sub combat tractor with the mower deck and rear pto, the attachments are almost limitless now with sub compacts between the rear and mid pto. My father has a 1023e and that thing is great, loader comes off in a breeze and a there is a huge difference between a pro driven mower deck and a belt driven mower deck, gets into tight spaces and areas larger machines have no chance at, plus I have a Kubota l3940 so few sizes bigger and between the two there isn't much that can't be done. With my Kubota we even put it a buddies entire septic system, cleared the trees and area, dug, put in the holding tank, everything, saved him $1000s and side from being able to pickup and drop in the holding tank, the 1023e would of done everything else.

    hey nice vid.
    I guess the 1023E is closer to the Emax 20S th-cam.com/video/ahdAPz1BKMs/w-d-xo.html,
    My lifting is just under 700lbs similar to yours.
    I did get a quick hitch for it th-cam.com/video/G01lJWv9SJI/w-d-xo.html it may fit better on yours if it's closer to the 1025R from what I'm told.
    We went with the Mahindra as price was a concern. the JD and others were more money and I already have a JD lawntractor and it too has CC that I've never used..lol
    very nice comparison , I will sub to see more tractor vids.

    • @FloridaDeere
      @FloridaDeere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it seems a lot of these tractors are very similar in capability for sure. I do like some of the features of the other tractors like the way the Mahindra's hood opens up. Deere has some very well thought out designs though that other tractors don't have, for instance oil cooler for the hydraulic fluid, fender mounted loader joystick (I believe Kubota has that too), power steering cylinder behind the front axle. A few others and it didn't hurt that I got the 1023E at what appears to be the magical opening on price, just before the pandemic, after that, prices went nuts, there is literally a $5-6K difference from a new now to what I paid in Sept 2019. They had clearly built too many tractors, or at least 1 series, in 2018 and 2019, so dealers were flush with them. I do think all these little tractors with proper maintenance will last a long time though. Thanks for watching and I did check out your posted videos too, thanks for sharing.
