This channel is for anyone who love their John Deere Garden Tractors, Sub-compact utility tractors and really any small tractor, JD or otherwise, I just happen to own mostly John Deere. Also those into Do It Yourself DIY projects as well.
If you have any questions about the 1 series or the garden tractor, feel free to reach out. I'll do my best to answer your questions or get you pointed to the right person to answer than.

John Deere 455 54" Deck Rebuild (Part 3 of 3)
Okay, the final installment of this video series is here and the deck looks like it will be good for another 25-30 years easy...as long as I live to 75 or 80...I guess. I would recommend using the John Deere Parts Catalog for any parts you need, they have the diagrams and part numbers. I was able to source them all just fine. Yes Deere is proud of their parts, but getting the parts from Deere does provide an easy route and it's not terribly more money. The bulk of the project was sand blast and powdercoat for about $180. Whole project was probably under $300.00

This is a teardown of a 54" deck. It is likely similar to a teardown of a 48" deck or even 60" deck from the same tractor series which includes the 425, 445 and 455. I do have another video when it was installed in that arrangement, if you care to see how NOT to do it.
Subcompact Tractors for Subcompact Jobs (John Deere 1023E 1025R)

Lots of people ask how big an attachment they can fit on these tractors. I think that defeats the purpose of having a little tractor. These are the jobs they accel in, no bigger tractors could have pulled this job off and the 1 series is far better than a garden tractor with a loader, as the ergonomics of the 1 series is superior to garden tractors for "real tractor" work.

John Deere 755, Was a Hydraulic Fluid Service Enough?
I decided not to wait on JD parts to be made, and I bought a bell crank for my 2025R off Ebay ($53). This one was fabricated with steel and welded(much stronger). It took me less than 45 minutes to install, and would probably take someone who has done it before about 25 minutes. I suggest you put the tractor on level ground and block the wheels for safety. Use a 13mm wrench (a 1/2 inch will also work, but remember the two bolts are metric, M8 - 1.25) and it is helpful to have a long screwdriver for leveraging off the rod that goes back to the rear axle/brake. When finished, I replaced the cotter pin with a new one. Remember that the rod (which goes to the back of the tractor) is on springs and can be pulled forward by hand, to help you line up the brake rod hole in the crank. Both original bolts through the bell crank do NOT have nuts. You will see that the original bolts (when backing them out) will literally eventually hit part of the frame, but if you tip the head of the bolt back and wriggle, you have just enough room to get the bolts completely out. I used a ratcheting 1/2" box wrench, but then had to switch to a crescent wrench, otherwise the ratcheting wrench will get stuck [because the bolts are flanged] when the bolt is nearly out. Note that only the axle (?) itself is threaded. I discovered that the original bell crank is cast [aluminum ???] and cheaply made. The cast crank is only threaded about 25%. There is no need to jack the tractor up because there is plenty of room [unless you have a big stomach] to crawl on your back under the right side of the tractor. The bell crank is on the RIGHT side of the tractor, directly beneath where the heal of your shoe is, when your right foot is on the (foreward/reverse) pedals. It's a simple fix because the part is 100% metal and there is no electronics or plastics, etc., involved. Local people are fabricating them from steel in their shops [welding]. JD plans on sending techs to your home and doing the needed replacements there, so you don't have to go to a dealership. But the fix is pretty easy, if you want to do it yourself. Again, I got the part for about $53 from someone probably fabricating them in their garage or metal working job. Honestly, a 12 year old boy could probably figure out how to do the removal/installation, but remember, the rod that goes between the crank and the rear brakes is with springs so it can be easily moved back and forth to line it up with the crank hole (top) again. [Don't have the parking brake on when doing the replacement.] When you take off the original (cast) bell crank and hold it, you will see how cheaply it is made and realize why it cracks for so many people.
Hello @Florida Deere! I recently picked up a GX255. I released a video about it today. I'd appreciate your thoughts if you get a chance to watch it and leave a comment. I know you'll know more about this GX series than I do. Thanks, Chad!
Hey Chad, nice to hear from you again, how have you been? I hope well, I will check out the video. They were good tractors for sure, if taken care of. Thanks for watching.
John Deere’s are ok but too pricey. I just like the Kubota BX with shorter hood and I really think is made better. A lot of Kubota is in house manufacturing some sourced out too I’m sure. I hope they get their act together. 🇺🇸
I agree to a certain extent. I was a long time Ford guy, but now I'm onto Toyota. Ford no longer cares about being American and quality and Toyota still does. I recently bought a 4Runner, all 100% Japanese assembled with all 100% Japanese parts, a rarety in today's manufacturing game. But even Toyota builds other things all over the place and because of that, they are slipping. I have recently wondered if I'll have to switch to Orange, but I do believe that John Deere is way ahead of it's peer class versus Ford, or at least I hope so. Thanks for watching.
So I did this, and bought a super clean 445 was. Thought since it was a Deere, I could get what I needed. Nope, no 54 inch decks or any size nice decks around anywhere. Actually, there are a couple passable ones on FB, but they are $1k. I shoulda just bought an X739. This is just too difficult to find decks for. Mine has a 48, but too small for my yard.
Decks, good ones, can sometimes be hard to come by, keep looking. I was able to re work my 54" deck for under $300. That included the new bearings, multiple other parts from Deere and sand blasting and powder coating. Deck is not perfectly brand new but very close. Three of my most recent videos go over this process. Thanks for watching, I hope you find one soon.
@ Thanks for the encouragement. I did watch your vids, and gave me the idea to do the same, with powder coat if I can find one with any metal left. I’m looking. I post on FB in the groups, trying several states away even. The complete lack of useable and reasonable decks is kind of the achilies heel of the 4x5 series if you asked me. Thanks for the vids. Helpful. I’ll keep after it for a bit. I am ready to pick up a X739 if I can’t get a deck.
@@jd1029 Yep, that is often the case with many generations of the JD lawn and garden types. Was also true of the 300 and 400 series before the 4X5. Great tractors and rotted decks. The decks are quality decks, but the way people treat them is insane.
@@FloridaDeere Yes, seems that way. I also think the tractors were so good, people just wore the decks off them. Too bad no one has found the deck stamping tool and produced them in the aftermarket. There has to be a market.
@@jd1029 Yes, it sure seems so, my buddy locally here runs his little JD parts company called VGI, Vintage Green Iron. ANd he can make big bucks off a good conidtion deck, in excess of $1000 and some close to $2000. I have always just looked for a cheap tractor or at least mildly cheap tractor, parted it out and stole th edeck from the deal. You can buy shells sometimes from folks if you are willing to do the rebuild. But as you're finding out, good deals are few and far between.
Where specifically did you get power from in order to run the extra work lights? I have a 1023e. And how do you turn them on and off? Is there a switch or are they always on?
At roughly the 6 minute mark, I explain there is an extra unused power source/plug that the 1023E comes with as does the 1025R, but in the 1025R, it is already being used. I did have to buy part of the wiring harness from Deere to complete that project, I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere Yes, I heard that, but where is that unused plug located? Is it under the seat? At the base of the Roll Over Protective Structure (which you are not using) or maybe an extra wire coming from out of a fuse box somewhere? There are a lot of wires and plugs on my tractor that I don't know what they do.
@@moveoutdrawfire Gotcha, I did take off the lights so I can run the ROPS again, there was enough negative comments about me not running them and I also know better, so I thought it was good to run them again. So I don't have the lights anymore, but the plug is above the PTO and around where the pump is. There's a group of wires around that area and it should have one with a fake plug on it protecting it. You can pop off the fake plug and then use the wiring harness you can get from Deere to add other lights. Can;t remember if I said, but they came on with the other lights. I want to say the plug end was purple or blue. If you want to email me, I can shoot you a picture. My email is in the profile part of the TH-cam channel if you click on MORE, it will give you more info about the channel and how to contact me.
Great video. I know it is a lot of work restoring those decks. 10:15 I would have packed the bearings instead of just coating them with grease. Not sure if the grease zerks will do that. You definitely don't want those bearings to run dry.
Agreed, they were hand packed, I believe they do have a machine for that, but I have always hand packed bearings, super messy ordeal, but like you said can't have them run dry. Looking at the video, I could have maybe packed them more densely, but there weren't any "air gaps" when I got done. Thanks for watching.
I'm just starting on my first 322 resto-mod. I've done eight 318's one 400 and a 420 over the past 20 years so I'm anxious to get into the 322 just to observe the differences and to see what mods i can implement on this one.I do like your use of the tool box in the fender. I think I'm going one step further and adding 425/445 grab handles on the fenders as well and I'll borrow the Kenda Turf tires on the rear as well! I'm not much of a videographer or editor but I may give it a try on my project to share as well. Great job on yours by the way!
Nice video. One of the few that shows a bit of the fuse box cabling. (My 1025r is a 2014) What no one seems to mention is that the "Add a Fuse" pigtail included in the kit will work if you connect it to the F08 circuit and ONLY if you use both the original fuse from F08 AND the supplied 10a fuse supplied by Summit. Those 2 sets of tiny slots on the pigtail are wired in parallel. The original fuse completes the main Starter part of the circuit. Next, that slot is wired to the next slot used by the Diverter. More detail: On my 2014 1025r, F08 is labeled as "Ignition Run Power". Removing that fuse will not allow the starter to actuate. Plugging in the "add a circuit" pigtail gives you two circuits: the 1st set of slots are directly on top of the pins. The second slot, off center, is the diverter circuit. This info was not detailed in the PDF that accompanied the Diverter. As of today, none of the videos I've looked at go into much detail of the circuit install. I found this info on GreenTractorTalk.com SCUT section discussing a similar installation. Next, grounding the circuit is required. The existing ground straps are quite visible and accessible. Most videos show its location. However, if you don't want to disturb that ground mounting, you can use an adjacent, threaded hole on the engine block. Purchase an M8-1.25 X 16 flange bolt. This matches the threads of the adjacent hole in the block. Make sure it's the 16mm bolt. Too large and it won't tighten the ground cable(s). Too short and it won't handle additional connections. *Much thanks to the OP, "Keane" on GreenTractorTalk.com for this valuable insight (and education!).
Thanks, I did think the fuse box connection was a bit odd the way they have you put it in. I haven't had any issues so far with anything that I haven't caused myself. Thanks for watching.
I have a yard that a 100 series would easily handle. Ended up buying an X590 because I can. Figured the kids aren’t going to get all my money when I eventually kick the bucket. 😉
haha, true, and now you're mowing in true style too, the X590 is a sweet ride, passing on money is great, enjoying the fruits of your own labor is also a great thing. Plus, they will inherit the X590, which is nice too. Thanks for watching.
I developed a chatter on my 318 after performing a hydro fluid and filter change. I did complete the bleeding procedure and also used the machine for a couple hours, chatter remains intermittent. Every 10 seconds or so. Operating the hydraulics seems to relieve the chattering temporarily. There are no leaks. Any idea why new hygard and filter would introduce this? I did fill the filter partially before installing.
I don't know off hand what would cause this. I would take a quick video and post it on MyTractorForum and see what guys say. I am sure someone has dealt with that issue before. I hope that helps you figure out what the issue is.
Can you tell me how to unlock the rear wheels on a JD 285, the handle is missing.
I'm sorry, I can't say for sure because I never had a 285, at least not yet and it's the series/generation before the one in the video. I believe they were the series predecessor to the 325-355 series. The mechanics may be the same, not sure.
Cool videos. Thanks! Did you have much welding repair done on the deck? After blasting, I imagine it needed some repair before powder coat
Actually this one was pretty good. It had some blast through at the bottom of the back edge. That area is often a swiss cheese section of the deck. The rest of the deck was in pretty good shape. A spindle or two were a little more questionable. I did want him to hammer the chute area out a little before the sand blast and powder coat, he said he tried but it didn't really move. That was the only real part I didn't like. So for less than $300 total, this deck looks nearly brand new. Thanks for watching.
Woodland mills is heavier I went with the Baumalight through my JD dealer, they pre cut the PTO to length, I picked it up with my tractor on a trailer, tested the operation and was able to go to work when I got home. 💪
I think I cover either in this video or the first one the weight of each and the WM is much heavier for sure. That is pretty cool that the dealer cut your PTO shaft. It's not a huge deal, but I would have rathered that than doing all the prep and measuring myself. I bought mine I believe straight from the company, TTWT had a discount code making it the same price as the WM. They were both around $2500 at the time and it came with free shipping. Since they have skyrocketed in price. Thanks for watching.
I've inspected my bell crank and it looks in good shape. I seen pictures of a split bell crank. No cracks or anything in my 2019 J.D.. So, I think I'll pass on taking it in to the dealer, but I will do periodic checks of the bell crank, which is easy to do and takes less than a minute.
Yeah, I looked at mine too, no apparent issues, probably because I never use it😂. Well hardly ever, I was using it the other day to de-bead some tires...not the brake but the loader and I had to have the brake on for it to work. Thanks for watching.
You are welcome. I use mine a lot for a host of issues I have on 20 acres of Little Brushy Mountain foothills--downed trees, dredging creeks, moving dirt, even tilling my garden with my backhoe. But I will know in an instant when that brake begins to fail and the trip to J.D. is 20 miles round trip on a small ten foot trailer. That scares me more than anything. So, I guess I'll pass and hope for the best.
@@jonesrick1 That sounds like the next property I'd like to own. Florida is a fine place for many, but it's gotten too full and it's hot and humid and flat...which is good for the brake issue, but not otherwise.
North Carolina is my dream home. We moved here from N.J. in 2009. I never thought of retiring to Florida for the reasons you cite plus the hurricanes. Golf is no fun in the heat or when it rains. I can't play golf here in the foothills, but I love working the land and so I keep busy. Weather is mild, but we did get nipped by Helene, although not seriously, thank God.
@@jonesrick1 Yep, again agree with that. I prefer the mountain activites and have little desire to golf, boat or go to the beach. I prefer SW Virgina and western NC for sure. Yep, a little colder in winter, but not as bad as the northeast for sure and much better summers than Florida, which usually last about 5-6 months of heavy heat. You made a good choice to go half way, meaning not all the way to Florida. I think a lot of people move to Florida from the northeast and then move to the states in between searching for a happy medium between both.
There is only 798 Billionaires in the USA. I'm sure they believe they are paying more then their fair share. I'm all for a flat tax rate for every American at 5%. Also making every household in a zip code paying the same amount of property taxes also. Past time to rewrite American tax codes. We need every one paying the same percentage.
uh oh, what did I say in this video? I made it a few years ago so I don't recall the tax reference. But I think I agree with you . I'd also like to abolish property taxes and have a municipal fee, unrelated to the value of your lot. If we have property taxes, you never really own your house or land, the government does. But that's a topic for my other channel.
Did Kamala Harris lower your cost of living? Why not she is in charge right now.
You were also missing the John Deere 400
So, I have mixed thoughts on the 400. While it is a good tractor, it is a red-headed step child in that most of it's attachments are 400-specific and that makes getting them very difficult if not impossible. It's a beast for sure, but part of my recommendations are practical. It doesn't help that all of them are now well over 40 years old and some approaching 50. So missing yes, forgetten no. Thanks for watching the channel.
I have the opportunity to get a 322 for 1600 with a mower deck or a 332 with a mower deck 1600 for the 322 and 2500 for the 332 wonder which one you would get I am going to be doing primarily front plow blade work with the tractor and may get a 3 point for it. Snow removal and moving dirt around a bit will be its main job.
I would love to trade my 322 for a 332, but that is primarily because I have a 1023E and 455 and would like to use one fuel for them all. But in your case, if these are similar in condition, I'd have to go with the one $900 cheaper. They are really the same tractor, but the 322 carries the same block and has more horsepower. So in a way, the gasser with a diesel block makes it nearly indestructable. Either one will probably last for many decades. What are the hours on each tractor?
The 332 has 850 hours on it and currently the 322 hours I do not have. They are similar in condition but the 322 is missing headlight cover
The 332 has Kubota glow plugs
@@thenewyorkdeere4606 Hours and condition are important, hard to say which is more important, I'd probably say condition. You can have lots of hours and it still being maintained very well, will give you lots of extra years. However, even tractors that have been abused to a certian extent with these engines can be recovered. But all else equal, I'd still want one well maintained. I had a $500 322 and a $300 322. The $500 one had 1200 hours and ran super nice. The $300 one had less than 100 hours...maybe and still needs some work. Both were rough to begin with, but both are much nicer now.
@@thenewyorkdeere4606 Yes they do.
I started to use my tractor 10/5. Stepped on the brake and nothing! sure enough that part is broken! Luckily I was in low gear. Then my wife tells me we got this same letter.
It broke the same day you got the letter?!?!
Same day I found out about the letter.
@@shawnmack70 Not sure that's good or bad, well I guess bad because it broke. Have you been able to make an appointment yet? Do they even have the parts yet? If not, there are a few dudes making replacement parts and not waiting for Deere if you have an immediate need. Just FYI. I think there is a guy or two in these comments that posted a link.
Love my 445 bought new in 1999. I retired and moved to 1/3 acre lot but I still kept the Deere. Keeping forever.
Yep, no doubt, after having such a machine, I'd find it difficult to give one up. They are awesome, not sure how I got by before I started owning these serious tractors. Thanks for watching.

How much room is in-between the tire and bottom of the toolbox?
That tractor had 23" tires on it and my current 322 has a box and 25" tires on it and there's still about an 1.5 "to 2" of clearance between tire and toolbox. Thanks for watching.
My LT155 was new in '93 with a Kohler 15hp single. It runs like a champ and cuts great but the tires are full of holes. Just got an '03ish LT180 with over 8000hrs on it for $80. That 17hp Kawi twin is quiet and smooth, even running on aerosol carb cleaner. We'll see how she cuts this weeend.
Wow, 8000 hours on a Kawasaki, thats incredible. Hope it runs and mows, you'll have to update me on that deal. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere OK. My eyes aren't what they used to be. It's 855 hours. I had no idea there was a decimal there.🤦 Replaced the fuel line and filter and it starts fairly easy and runs smooth on 50/50 fresh gas and old crap with a bit of SeaFoam. I'm assuming this is a "big box store" model, but it's more than enough for my tiny yard.
I have the same tiller and I notice your struggling to mount your tiller. The correct way to mount the tiller is to ensure your transport pin is in the open position (tiller deck can move freely). Then press down on the back of the tiller deck so the frame sits flat on the ground. At this point back the tractor over the frame, the tiller hydraulic motor will clear the transmission because it is flat to the ground. Once it's just at the mounting studs, stop the tractor and this time lift at the back of the tiller deck this will raise the frame. This will allow the frame mounts to line up with the studs. Now back up the tractor until the studs engage. Turn off the tractor and engage the transport pin and lift the tiller. At this point everything is lined up and you can insert the pins and lift arm. Happy tilling. Also do the reverse of what I stated above to dismount the tiller from the tractor. It's very easy.
Man, you are so right, I was definitely missing or rather doing some steps wrong. If I ever get another one of those tillers and tractors, I will follow your instructions, thanks for squaring me away and watching painfully through that video to instruct me. I hope I didn't look too dumb trying to do it.
I did the same thing that you did including the ratchet strap 12 years ago and it took about 6 weeks for my wife to forgive me😂
@@MrbernieL66 LOL!
They are still trying to figure out how a software update could fix it. Idiots.
LOL, sounds like Ford, simple thing yet, they don't want to take ownership of it. I hope Deere does better than Ford, I'd hate to move from Ford to Toyota and Deere to Kubota in the same year. I'm trusting Deere, while not fixing this in a timely manner will actually fix it correctly, I hope I'm not wrong. Thanks for watching.
After watching several videos about the Harbor Freight/Pittsburg small tire changers. I’m convinced now to never buy one. They have way too much slop/movement in them once the tire is fastened. I know this video is 2 yrs. old and I’ve read the comments. Here is a tip: The tire you’re working on should have no movement. If the tire is mounted solid removing and installing them is so much easier. Any movement = wasted energy. I use a 5/8” x 14” square head Machine bolt mounted in my vise. I then use any necessary washer/spacers to securely mount the tire down. Purchased new, the bolt is about $5.00 and if you know any Electric lineman, If you asked them, they would probably just give you one. I watched one video where a guy used some all thread, But he didn’t take the time to bolt it down solid. He wrestled the tire around as much as you did. I also noticed you need to strengthen/reinforce your work bench where you have the changer mounted. Would be an easy fix just Nail in/add additional 2x6 braces under the plywood. Hope these tips help.
Cheap tire changers for sure. My mounting has weakened over time, also you are exactly right, I need to rebolt down and reinforce my mounting plate, with like you said a 2X6 or similar piece. I have to change some tires coming up, just need to remember to reinforce the system before the next use. Sad, it's been two years and I haven't done that yet. Thanks for watching and also your tips.
Have a 2019 1025R. My brakes are fine. Live in Virginia in the Roanoke area and have hilly terrain. But I will continue to use my tractor as I rarely use the brake, even on hills. Since these tractors are hydro-static, when you remove pressure from the forward or reverse pedal the tractor stops. If you have to, just drop the bucket. Anyway, how a company messages a recall, especially a safety recall, is critically important. in this case, i think it was poorly done. Good messaging builds customer satisfaction and loyalty. The customer knows that the company has their back. On Deere's side, they've sold a crap ton of these little tractors. It's hard to beat their versatility vs. cost. I get so much stuff done with mine. I'm sure tooling up to produce and distribute all the replacement parts is no small thing. Hope they test the replacements. it's still unclear how they expect to replace the part. i would expect that they would cover the replacement of the part, but what about the transport of the tractor to and from the dealer. Scheduling is also going to be a challenge for your dealer. They only have so much tech time available. If they allow it, I'll just opt to install it myself.
I agree with you on all points, I love my tractor, very nice tractor, if the channel doesn't make a good enough impression, I love Deere, new and old. Huge process to roll out the replacements agreed, my main criticism is the roll out of the information from Deere, if it's important, why did I hear about it from social media two months before from the people that made the tractor and noticied the issue? Most of the time I'm pretty positive on Deere, but this time, they need improvement. My same situation, it's a hydro tractor, they essentially stop on their own, so to me it's not a huge deal, but for some I could see it being a problem. And lastly, myself included, just hand over the part, save the appt for someone else and let me install it at my shop. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful gx, did you really part it. I think you should regret that.
I understand where you're coming from, bu ton many acquisitions, you really have to assess the numbers otherwise you can make a find a very negative one. With the cost of plastics and the time spent getting one or the other motor to hopefully work, it can be a black or maybe I should say red hole of expeditures. I mainly wanted the 519 cart. I did consider teh whole project as a rehab, but money and time both cost me, so parting it out was the best solution in this case, in my opinion. Thanks for watching.
We have buble bees in Texas that nest in the ground. I've been lucky so far.
Yeah, it funny what provokes fear in my, I think it's not just the pain but the fact that the attacks are almost invisible and I don't see them coming in most cases. LOL. Thanks for watching.
2019 1025R, got mine on 9/27
Maybe they are rolling them out according to the year of the tractor. But it still seem slow. Thanks for watching.
They surely should have come out with the notice sooner and they should have had the part available at the same time.
Yeah, notification sooner, not sure they could have had the part out sooner, but they could have at least stopped selling the defective part. One of the guys on the Facebook group proactively bought the part, only to find out it was the defective part that needed to be replaced. How crazy it that the the part responible for the recall was not flagged in the system as a Stop Sale, Stop Use part? Nuts. Deere is a well run company overall, but it takes effort to keep that going, I hope they get stuff straighted out. Thanks for watching.
I have not got the letter at this time 09/27/24
People are still getting them I suppose, what year is your tractor? I wonder if the roll out of letters follows year built? Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere 2020
Call your dealer.
Yea, feel your pain…kinda stinks how they run things anymore…bought my 1025r we over 3 years ago…had minimal problems since owning and try to take good care of it…i could have saved money and time by going for a different brand but didnt because of how the hydro cools and comfort level….if i would have known then what ive known now, the other option would have been better….and cost me less…
Hey, they are a good product and crap happens, but it just seems like a slow response, maybe it's not. I just think it's weird to learn about it two months ago from another social media platform, not from Deere, like the maker of the product🤣. It really isn't a big deal to me, but for folks that use the brake a lot and the tractor a lot, well, it would suck to not be able to use it or put yourself in a serious liability situation every time you did. If I still did paid tractor work, I would stop in case any liability arose from it. Thanks for watching.
One thing I regret about my J.D. purchase was that it didn't come with the hydraulic diverters that are standard on some other sub compacts on the market. You need them for a stump grinder or top link, or grapples that I could make some use of on my land.
@@jonesrick1 What kind of stump grinder do you have? I have diverters, but I didn't need them for the stump grinder, mine is just a PTO driven unit.
Don't have a stump grinder. I think they're bad for a small tractor like the 1025R. If I had to, I might invest in a Baumalite. But they'll vibrate the poop out of a tractor and they are hard to use because they're on the back of the tractor and you have to twist your neck for long periods while using it. If they made one for the front I'd be more inclined to purchase one, but they're expensive, noisy as hell, and shake you to the bones. Lots of videos on YT about them. Tractor Time With Tim is a good source.
@@jonesrick1 Yeah, I have a Baumalight, can't argue with you, they shake quite a bit, you do have to turn your head, but I did get mine when they were cheaper with my TTWT discount code😎. You can mitigate the shaking my properly using the machines and also making sure the 3 point is tight. Working from across the side instead of going over the middle of the stump really does minimize the vibrations. To be fair, you still have a fair amount of vibration, it can't be eliminated altogether. I actually have a video where I use a Woodland Mills stump grinder on a X585 garden tractor and it actually did pretty well. But I agree, a larger tractor would be a better system for a stump grinder. Side note, that is easily the attachment that has paid for itself over and over again. I paid $2450 and probably made $5500-6000 and that doesn't include all my uses at my house and family and friends of which we didn't have to pay for.
My 1025R is due for the 200 hour service. I’ve changed the in line fuel filter 3 times already. Not sure why it gets so dirty. Buy some jade pinch pliers to put on each side of the filter. I remove the bolt holding the front hose bracket to get more slack. The pliers will not damage the rubber hoses and the lost fuel is minimal. Thanks for the video
Just a heads up, the pliers do eventually damage the hose, that happened to me, but I did install a double valve system to make changing it easy. That's in another video I made, but it was exactly because of what you said, that thing gets dirty overnight, it really does, it's like it needs to be changed every 25-50 hours. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere I’ll check out the other video for the double system you mentioned. Thanks for the response.
@@davidstrickland5663 I did do something very similar to what you mentioned, but when the hose busted, I needed a new system, finding Deere's unusual size hose was a pain late at night, but I managed to make it work. I probably need to change my in-line filter again already.
Is there much difference between a John Deere GT series tractor and a John Deere GX series tractor???
Yes, quite a bit, the GX has a heavier frame, they have the same transmissions, however, the higher modeled GX's also have hydrualics for attachments and also for power steering. They have similar engines at one point, but then the GX offers a liquid cooled gas, as well as a very rare diesel, neither of which the GT offers. The GX's were quite a bit more expensive. The current X500 series sort of combines them. The lower X500 series are more similar to the GT, whereas the more expensive X500 series are similar to the old GX's. Thanks for watching.
Are you able to hang suitcase weights on the front frame with the guard on? I know with some grills it is possible by turning the suitcase weight sideways to insert them under the guard and then let them swing down. Could you try that if you have a 42 LB suitcase weight
Shoot me an email of text tomorrow so I can remember. I have never tried but I can since I have a few. I've just never needed one on the front of the 1023E. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere sorry i don't know how to contact you except here 😭 any luck checking the grill guard with the front suitcase weights?
@@danielmacdonald16 Tha channel page has a "more" or "other" button that allows us to put more information, but either way, I'll roller myself out to the shop and check it out.
@@FloridaDeere oh no. Your knee! Nevermind. Just take care!
@@danielmacdonald16 DUDE!!! Since I forgot twice on you already and I was still up at 1:39am, I ran...well rolled myself out out to check. I am 99% certain you could put four on, certainly two on the far side, probably two more as you closed in on the middle, but I doubt you could get one in the middle for a total of five. Having said that, you might be able to bend the guard in a such a way to make it work. Also, they would have to go on before you put the guard on, as the guard would prevent you from installing afterwards. So, now you know three new things, suitcase weights are possible, and I'm both committed enough and I guess dumb enough to walk out there at night for my subscribers😉. Having said that, if I would have jsut checked when I told you I would, it would have been daylight, but before that happened I saw a squirrel.

Awesome review thanks for sharing.
Thanks man, I hope you liked the video and it wasn't too gruesome.
Probably shouldn't have watched that last part... getting ready to go through the same thing on my right knee. Good luck!
Oh goodness sakes Billy, yes, but I've gotten much better each week. The wound is worse looking than the actual wound, but it was painful, but now 15 days in I am way better and getting beeter each day. Living on a broke knee is no good. I wanted to watch a video of an actual knee surgery, they said I could. I was like not until I'm done and over with it, so the night I got back, I did watch one and was like holy crap, I did that today🤣🤣😮😮 Definitely wait to watch that video. Once done though, it's done and you are already getting better. Stick with the PT afterwards, it's a little pain but provides great benefits. People said that before and they are right. I got to 105 degrees, assisted and 97 degrees unassisted today, so I'm on my way. Thanks for watching the video. Tell me how yours goes, I'll be praying for you man!!
Billy, now almost 7 weeks later, I can tell you, each week is better and better than the last. 2 is better than 1, 3 better than 2, by the 4th and 5th week, I have been getting back to much closer to normal. Not there yet, but it's a pretty linear improvement. I'm 50 and my recovery is apparently better than most, probably because I had the unfortunate case of getting a full replacement early, but each week is easily better than the last. I hope this is an encouragement to you.
@@MyCarsandProjects Well the "Best layed plans of mice and men"... Went in for my date and doc took a look at the MRI I had of my shoulder. Well, he said the knee was on hold till after a rotator cuff and bicep repair. So here I sit with my arm in a sling and rehab starts tomorrow. - I'll be 70 next year and feel like I'm falling apart. Could be worse!

I see your points and they are good ones. However, you lost all credibility IMO when I noticed the match light charcoal. Lol!
LOL!!! This is easily the funniest comment I have read in a long time. Yes, you got me, I do not have a man card at all when it comes to grilling. But while I do tell the truth that that match ligth bag is for my bonfire, it's just easier to light with those. I appreciate you watching and I hope you subscribed as well, I need folks like you to keep me in line and give me a chuckle from time to time.
I have a JD 445 that my dad bought brand-new in 1994. It has been kept meticulously maintained over the past 30 years, the plastic valve covers upgraded to the later aluminum ones, and the failure-prone plastic gears replaced as a preventative measure. Before he gave it to my wife and me (along with two 54" mower decks, a 48" deck with a power flow attachment, wheel weights, a snowblower, tire chains, and lots of spare parts!), my dad honed the cylinders and replaced one piston and both sets of rings (the one piston had a broken land, and the tractor had begun to burn oil at a high rate). It runs like new now!
That 's cool, I had a long-term 445 once myself, I loved that tractor, it was my first experience with the "big boys" so to speak. It was a great tool for so many projects and jobs. Thanks for watching.
Nice video. I'm upgrading from a John Deere lawn tractor, a JD STX38, to a garden tractor, a JD GT 235. That little STX 38 was the best $300 I invested but it finally broke down, suspected blown head gasket. Not really worth fixing. Buying a a used JD GT 235.
The GT235 was a very popular and very reliable tough tractor. It's basically like an entry level garden tractor, except for maybe the GT225, which are very rare. The GT235 was my first JD, bought it brand new in 2003 and my father-in-law still uses it on his property. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere I'm buying the JD GT 235 from my uncle. He has loads of money and just upgraded his garden tractor. My dad has a beef farm and has 2 JD 425's, a JD 650, a JD 4520 and finally a JD 5410. I think he has a tractor for each barn, shed or garage, LOL.

Really late to the comments for this video, but I have the exact 3 bag mcs except mine has the Kawasaki. Is there a strut or something to help keep the top cover of the mcs up whilst you empty the bags? Ive checked online forums, nothing. I’ve checked the parts catalog, didn’t see anything, but it is incredibly inconvenient to hold up the top and try and wrestle out the grass bags. Is it poor design, or am I missing something? Wondering if you had some experience you could share. Thanks!
(I didn’t see you emptying the bags in the video)
Yes, I have had the same issue/experience you have had. It is a pain in the butt to hold them up with a shoulder to get them on the hooks for emptying. I just recently sold mine after a few years use, as now this winter I will have a hydraulic dump cart for the 322. It attaches directly to the tractor with it's own hardware and there is a PTO hook-up that powers it, plus I have the rear hydraulic kit. So now, I won't have to get off the tractor to turn off the power flow, I hit the switch and also won't have to get off to empty, I'll just use the hydraulics to raise and dump the cart. I'm hoping it works as good as it sounds. Thanks for watching.
@@FloridaDeere thanks for the reply. I’ve been using an old t post to prop it open. Better than the shoulder. Surprisingly poor design seems like, but not sure if all baggers are like that. This is the first bagger I’ve used.
I have a 2013 F150 DHTP 5.0L and it's the 8ft with supercab white. I've got over 203k miles on it and it's amazing. I built myself a drawer system to have my tools inside it with an aluminum ARE cap on the top, that basically equates to about 1000lbs of weight in the back and the truck doesn't even notice that stuff is back there. I was building a deck and put a substantial amount of weight in the back consisting of many 2x8s and the truck didn't notice them back there in the bed.
Yeah, I think those trucks with that package were the best and most able 1/2 ton trucks you could buy....maybe ever. Especially since they are basically 1.25 ton trucks. It was definitely the most capabale truck I ever owned. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching.
They intentionally made battery removal unnecessarily difficult. Ridiculous.
Yep, it's hard to argue otherwise, plenty of space for it, but those two essentially pernament bolts make it impossible. I honestly kept thinking I was missing something, it couldn't be that hard, but it was without cutting one of those adjustment bolts off. They didn't need to be that long. Thanks for watching.
Is 1700 hours on a 345 too much?
Depends on condition mostly, but that is less than 100 hours a year, so not terrible. But I would want a cheaper price if I could get one. Thanks for watching.

Haha, yes, it is a bit like a cult, but a good one if such a thing exists. And you ain't lying either, it's a steep learning curve. The dealer sends you out with little to no training. They rarely mention ballast, which is critically important. Rollovers kill more people than any other issue on tractors and are often easily avoided. But having said all that, they are a force multipler for sure, making it possible to get unreal amounts of work done with little effort, so they come with a positive as well. You just have to mitigate the negatives. Thanks for subing and watching, I hope to see you around. They have a good Facebook group too with the 1023/1025 guys as well, lots of good guys on there.
