3:34 Ah the old Tangara, with the black doors. You don't find Tangaras like this anymore. They have repainted them yellow and have replaced the seating to reflect the Millennium and Waratah sets nowadays! :)
I am not sure about the R set and the S set since they were based off of the same design. You can only tell by a letter. The C set is different due to the fronts on the end cars as well as pantographs on the non driving cars. The K set is like the C set but with a different front.
The R set and S set are the same train, however the difference is in their formation. R sets were formed in 6-car sets, whereas S sets were formed in 4 car sets. L sets were made in 2 or 3 car sets. However, all of these trains are Comeng Series 1 or 2 power/trailer cars, so they are the exact same design.
K-Sets and C-Sets have aircons (from what I read on the net somewhere) and R-Sets and S-Sets, they're not much of a change. They seem to be the same thing.
A C set train has copper motors like the tangara they modified the K set to fit and trial the Tangara motors in the C set before the tangaras came out. Also you can tell witch sed the train comes from buy the colour of the target plate ( Eg R 17) If its red its from mordale sead, Blue From Flemington and Black its from Hornsby.

Vijay Narain yes :( it’s very depressing I wish they weren’t updated 😂
And now they've even upgraded the doors to look like M sets!
That’s actually a intercity G set, so it would be equivalent to finding a SRA “candy” Tangara or the very early cityrail one.
Nowadays we can only see a photo of it at the walls of an underground corridor that takes you in and out of Central Station
4:04 the old cityrail logo on a refurbished train
4:39 - Thats the R Set. I got a quick pause of the video and theres a little tag on the bottom right corner of the back face of the train saying
R
17
4:39
R 17 still has one of its carriages non scrapped, the carriage was c3986 which is still on s28 which is a heritage set to this day !
4:39 That's R17

C sets also have the same running gear as Tangaras, as they were essentially a s test bed for them before they were introduced.
That last V-set announcement...I wish Ewood had express trains still
Remember back when Sydney's trains used to not have yellow highlights? It has a special charm that the yellow repaints took away.
Nichole The Otter the old silver sets look even worse with no yellow 😂
Oliver Poate I get what you mean but I feel Tangaras in particular looked better without the yellow.

K & C sets were air conditioned for memory, however the R and S sets weren't (hence the nicknames of S-weat Sets)

When did all c sets get green seats
IcemanGuy114 c sets didn’t have green seats. The v sets used to before they got refurbished
The v sets are actually not suburban. They never were, and they never will. Probably.
Back in the 80's there was a suburban V set service. Went from Sydney terminal to penrith with limited stops. Was in the Blue Goose Livery
Glen Anderson yeah i know, but this is 2006, long after the service was discontinued
@Worldseries601
Here's how you tell, S Sets are 4/8 car sets and R Sets are 2/6
Actually, R sets are only 6 cars
L sets were 2 cars however later on they became 3.
8 car S Sets don't exist. They are 2 4 car S Sets joined together.
