left to right Fili, Thorin, Gimli, Kili, Bofur. When Gimli recites the poem, the other four had been long dead. Geoff decided to have their "ghosts" join him for this.
In Tolkien's mythology, Durin was the eldest of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves, who was the first of their kind to waken and who was said to reincarnate numerous times. He created the great halls of Moria (Khazad-Dum,) the legendary Delving of the Dwarves, which was lost to them by the time these Dwarves here in the video came along; they had mined too deep and woke a terrible spirit, a Balrog of Morgoth who drove them into exile. The chamber and the Dwarves shown here wove those ancient legends into the much later stories of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Geoff's decision to summon the memories of Thorin, Fili, Kili and Bofur to sing with Gimli, the son of one of their contemporaries, was really rather inspired, I think.
Wasn’t this beautiful? It’s a sad song for the most part to me. They are in the mines of Moria singing about the glory days of the dwarves with the gold and the gems yet they’re in a dark lifeless cavern standing in front of a tomb. But it is so gorgeous. You just can’t go wrong with four Geoff’s , and when you get five it’s truly something exceptional. Misty Mountains has been my favorite for a long time. I find the pacing and the deep bass very soothing . Then he came out with I See Fire with each of the dwarves really getting to show off their own range. This combines the best of both in my opinion. It’s got that slow pacing where you can really appreciate that deep voice, but each of the dwarves get to sing a bit as well. But those harmonies! Delicious! Durin is a revered dwarf king in the time before the LOTR series. The Amazon series Rings of Power is set in this time. The song in its entirety tells the history of the dwarves from the beginning to Middle Earth’s times. The tomb that they’re standing in front of is Balin‘s who was one of the dwarves featured in The Hobbit, which is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings series. The four ghostly dwarves were also in The Hobbit. Thorin, with the deepest voice here is the heir of Durin. I think I’ve got that right. I’m rereading them now, so anyone with better information please correct me.
The lyrics are a poem from the lord of the rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien. Gimli recites it in the second book I think. In dwarven lore, Durin was the first dwarf and first king. The other dwarves that come in are from the book The Hobbit. I think as far as the harmonies go, this is Geoff's best song yet. I could see you both getting lost in the song as you listened. I really enjoy seeing you two together for these. Dipal is getting more comfortable in front of the camera, and you are working better together.
@@beardoweirdo.79 If you and Dipal have the chance, read the books from Tolkien. Start with The Hobbit and follow that with The Lord of the Rings trilogy. These books actually are where the creators of Dungeons and Dragons got their original ideas to base the game on.
@@beardoweirdo.79not sure if you realize this or not but these are all Geoff dressed up into different characters. Most of his solo covers he clones himself 3 or 4 times to harmonize with himself. He may not always show his clones but the voices you hear are all Geoffs.
I thoroughlly enjoy Geoff's three songs associated with Tolkien's Middle Earth (books and movies). I sincerely hope that he continues releasing these over the years.
Geoff built the casket. Remember you don't need to play the copyright game with Geoff or VoicePlay. They want all of your people to see and hear the best their video can be. If you have seen I See Fire, the dwarves were Durin's folk. Time had lapsed for this one and the first person was Gimli (from Lord of the Rings) the others that ghosted in (and out) were from long ago.
Welcome to high fantasy... The lord of the rings to be precise. The poem did not make it into the movies but considering that the movie's total over seven hours that's understandable. The books are well worth reading.
Geoff is absolutely the best! Voiceplay dropped Be Prepared from the Lion King after this. You will love it as well!

Your wife is beautiful and her expressions during the song were so expressive. You are a blessed man.
I can totally Agree with that observation,..
Blessed indeed!😊
Gotta love when we get five Geoff's.

Yes, true artistic version with a rich story and even richer voice. Loved the emotion. Thanks for reaction.
