  • In the third video in this Tutorial series, we look at the types of Terminal Procedure Jeppesen Charts available to us in Navigraph for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. NOTE: links are below and at bottom
These include SID charts or Standard Instrument Departure Routes also known as Departure Charts or DP, used for Departing an airport under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules)
STAR Charts or Standard Terminal Arrival Charts used for Arriving at an airport or towards a runway approach under IFR.
IAP or Instrument Approach Procedure Charts or plates which provide the necessary information to execute instrument approaches to airports and/or specific runways at larger airports.
Airport Diagrams can provide all types of information and are designed to assist in the movement of ground traffic and complex runway or taxiway configurations including parking and de-icing locations.

This is an amazing series and a wonderful refresher for things forgotten. It's been 17 years since I last flew IFR and 10 since I lost my medical. Now I have the means and time to get back into it via simming. You are helping me get back into it quickly and jogging my memory so that it's all coming back to me.

Really enjoying this series David. Well paced, right length, with just the right amount of detail. Flying with Navigraph really adds to the fun of MSFS2020.

Brilliant tutorial series this, helping me understand this quite easily, thankyou NOTAM. Following your 101 video I invested in a Navigraph Charts subscription, is a huge boost to my MSFS2020 enjoyment. : )

I remember when you had to load a few quid into your Navigraph account and buy the charts for 3 pence to 8 pence a chart, depending on the detail lol 😁 They have totally transformed the way you interact with the product. It is the market leader now bar none. A must have. I also want to say what a great video series this is Dave. I have a feeling you do a lot of presentations for a living. If you don't, you should 👍👏

This is amazing David! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. No one else on TH-cam has this kinda content! Good work my friend! I have always wanted to be a pilot, but instead decided to just stick with sims :-) Years with x-plane.. now MSFS 2020. Sky Vector is great, but only for the USA as you know. So, Navigraph is something I am looking at. I also just got Pilot2ATC and I see it comes with an older Navi database. So, another reason to get this. If you ever need a flight to use as an example.. please use KASE. I have been trying to fly into this airport for weeks and its very hard. Especially using the RNAV approach. Would love to see how someone else does it :-) Keep up the great content!

@@NOTAM1 Thanks so much! Great job with your channel too! You have a nice focus and I can tell are taking off! (pun intended, lol). It took me years to grow.. but, for me its hard to provide consistent content because of the nature of what I do. Really love what you have here. Have you used Pilot2ATC at all? I just started playing with this and so far it is pretty nice. I wanted to jump right to pilots edge.. but, I dont think I am ready yet for that.

@@NOTAM1 Oh that's great David! That's a nice thing to share with your father too! Love that! Yeah, this is kinda the same story for me. I started out wanting to share what happens behind the scenes and to give my clients a sense of my personally. It was a way to "stand out" from other photographers and at the same time build a solid connection with people. TH-cam has been my favorite thing since. Lately tho, with COVID-19 things have not been good.. lol, (why I have more sim time now lol). But, I hope things start to turn around by the end of the year. :-)

Very helpful! I'm still wondering how to get my flight plan created in Navigraph moved over to msfs 2020 so it will show up in my aircraft's avionics system as a flight plan. Export from Navigraph as a .pln file doesn't seem to work.

    • @BadOldBuzzard
      @BadOldBuzzard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@NOTAM1 Thanks, David. I made a Navigraph flight plan from KDAL (31L Coyote 2 SID) to KAMA (ILS 04 NO STARS). Exported as .pln file. Loaded it into MSFS2020, though it would work. It failed to use the approach. I had to manually fly the CJ4 (first time in it) back to lock up the ILS (which I surprisingly did successfully). Turned on approach mode and the the CJ4 plopped right down on the runway. Think I'll build my flight plans in Navigraph and enter them directly by hand into MSFS2020 until they get the issues resolved. Please keep up the great tutorials!!

NOTAM: Enjoying your videos. Great information you are sharing and teaching. Question I have is: How much in dollars does the Navigraph app cost for one year? Does Navigraph include the Jeppesen charts or is that an extra charge for that? Thank you sir.

HI DAVID, a curios question re a IFR flight from YSSY to WSSS. I see you include all the charts/data etc for departure and arrival, but say you dont have current info re the destination (in real time) as winds can change direction, so question is can you do the flight plan and leave the dotted line at WSSS (approach) or do you have to put something in there based on the navigraph data..? when you depart YSSY ..?

    Hi Mate
I have watched these and carried out my first flight about half an hour ago! Fun!
However... for some reason whenever I load the plan from Navigraph into FS2020 it deletes my approaches/arrivals/departures etc. Is this something you have come across? I have tried saving with the Fs2020 and P3D options but neither seems to put it across. I, as with another commenter just put the details in one by one to the FS2020 planner and this works but I am wondering if there is another workaround that yoiu may know of.
As always, keep up the fantastic work! I really appreciate your style of teaching and I am loving the planning side of flying (now I don't crash all the time haha). Cheers!

Navigraph is working on this with Asobo. Whats happening is that MSFS doesn't have all the transitions that navigraph does from the SID/STARs so if you've chosen a transition that isn't included in sim it will disappear. Waiting on Asobo to address a few things in SDK, and then navigraph will be able to sync all the navaids for perfect imports. PITA right now I know, but there are few (no) other options for proper charting.

I hate this software so far. It's like trying to connect the ends of spaghettis to make your flight plan. I will find a path I want to go and it sends me twice as far on that line as I want to go. I love the charts but the flight creation sucks for me!
