I'm sure that the former girlfriend is partly responsible as well. She might have left the chocolate someplace where the dog could get to it and didn't close her bedroom door. Then Amber ends up finding out what happened after the fact. I am sure that this probably happened while Amber was socializing with her boyfriend's parents and lost track of what her dog was up to.
Because poison only works when it is digested. It then enters the bloodstream and stops the heart. Vomiting the stuff means it never went past the stomach to the intestines, so that it was not digested, and never went into the bloodstream

Honestly, I have friends who have a dog that will climb into the counter to reach food. When he did it last, he grabbed a box of chocolate muffins and ate them AND the box. I am also 99.9% sure it was in fact the girlfriend's fault for leaving chocolates out and for leaving the door to her room open. Often, people who have never had dogs are too ignorant to know that chocolate is dangerous to them

Oh also, Amber has never said she was a "horse whisperer". Amy Flemming never said it either, but she just doesn't think the term is right. She does work with horses
