I think it's cute that everyone thinks the male dancer is an actual novice... I'd say he's actually highly experienced and thus very skilled in showing people what NOT to do.
Hmm, I don't think he's a complete beginner but I do think novice would be accurate. If you watch closely, even after he corrects the obvious mistakes, he's still doing things like stepping forwards heel-first or stretching his feet out when he steps as opposed to keeping the stepping foot under his centre of mass. It's not terrible form, especially in a choreographed routine like this, but definitely not what I'd expect from an experienced dancer. If I were to guess, I'd say he's either done a beginner's course and maybe some social dancing, or been taught by someone for this video - possibly even the girl in red, who clearly does know what she's doing.
As a salsa teacher, yes he's a beginner, and EXTREMELY rough on her, even when not acting. The main thing is that they're having fun, but Jesus man, remember no straight arms, and quick quick slow, quick quick slow.

Además, fíjate en el calzado que lleva la chica... zapatos de baile. El chico lleva zapatillas deportivas que suelen tener la suela de goma... es lo opuesto a un calzado adecuado. Es joven y tal vez no se ha dado cuenta, pero con zapatillas deportivas no te puedes deslizar y menos aún girar, te destrozas las rodillas. Si utilizas zapatos de suela, el baile mejora muchísimo, puedes deslizar con facilidad y girar sin esfuerzo. Llevo 25 años bailando y sé lo que digo. Un saludo y ¡que viva la salsa! ❤
