    Hi, is your salsa linear salsa or Cuban sauce? I really like your way of teaching. But my daughter really likes Cuban salsa. And I can't tell the difference in the training. So is your salsa, Cuban salsa or linear salsa?😊 Thank you

    Is there any difference between dancing salsa on 1 which you show and dancing mambo. Salsa on 1 looks like an identical step to mambo.

      mambo is dance on2, dancers do exactly the same except that they start one beat later when dancing mambo :)

  • @V21IC
    @V21IC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    Very impressive! I like how clear the instructions and demonstrations are!
    You make these steps so so so easy!
    I have been to several salsa classes and they were never that simple!
    I like the concept of moving the body or traveling with the feet just accompanying it in unison.
    It's so much better than moving the feet first and then the body follows.
    In the latter case, you'd now have to keep track of the feet movement and body movement as separate entities.
    Excellent videos! I'm a subscriber!

    Thank you for this. Your explanations are clear and easy to follow. However it seems to me that the music is out of sync with the steps. I tried dancing on 1-2-3 and 5-6-7 with the music, but I was moving to a different rhythm than you.

  • @chianti95
    @chianti95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great lesson! Really enjoyed this. Only thing I’d add is sometimes it’s hard to dance “backwards and in high heels” when you’ve just learned the steps in reverse. Telling the women to forget what they’ve practiced and use the right foot backwards instead of the left foot forward isn’t enough. If she were to dance her steps while he leads and dances (starting on the left) from the beginning, it would lock in the pattern. That’s probably not do-able in the studio, but when filming for video it would really help to at least differentiate the two techniques from the start.

    I used to dance on 2 salsa in Korea, but now I live in the midwest US and they only dance on 1. I was super confused at first and most instructors here didn't even know there was a difference between on 1 and on 2 salsa, so it's super refreshing to see you guys make that distinction. During Covid, I hope to learn on 1 salsa through your videos with my husband (beginner dancer). Thanks so much! We greatly enjoyed this video

      Hi Yury,
      Salsa breaks on 1
      Mambo breaks on 2
      It’s a tricky distinction. Mambo has a distinct look because of the pause on 1 before the movement begins.

    I wish some of these tutorials showed the perspective for women with right foot back on one, instead of always for the men. 😬
    We have to change what we're used to/what you've been teaching us. It's muscle memory as you say, so we're practicing the wrong thing!
    If anyone knows of any beginner videos with women in mind, please let me know 🙂

  • @pfavayi

    For a beginner , first lesson , your lady partner is moving her hips too much ... The beginner won't learn the basic step easily because she will be trying to move the hips like the lady in the video. You should do ONE thing at a time , ONE THING ONLY ....

    • @BachataDanceAcademy
      @BachataDanceAcademy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback 😎, but we also mention in this video not to focus on the body movement, this tutorial is mainly just for the steps. :) We have a dedicated online course as well where we go over "one thing at a time."
      If she did not move her hips, we would then get a comment that she does not move her hips, so its a lose/lose. We do our basic the way we do at its minimum in this video to help inspire a beginner to what is possible.
      As you can see from the comments below, this video has helped many students and beginners improve their Salsa basics. Have a great day!

    • @MarcusBodyCoding
      @MarcusBodyCoding 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Alexander! Ad ia salsa teacher for 12 years my best advice for beginners, and also an answer your question:
      1. Especially as a leader before worrying about the movements of the hips and such-
      It is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to master the steps and the leading first,
      Don't practice until you get them right (maybe once)
      *practice until you cannot get them wrong*
      I hope it was helpful!

    Very Good. I learned to dance Salsa a few years ago, but I didn´t practice it afterwards for a long time. So it is perfect to refresh my knowledge.
    Really good explained (and I have seen a lot of movies and I have had a lot of teachers during my life [Standard Dance / Latin Dance / Show Dance / Line Dance / Rock'n'Roll [the 8step counting] / Boogie Woogie and Boogie Woogie Formation up to the German Masters).
    But one wish: I guess the Lady is from the States and she speaks sometimes very fast. Especially for international visitors it is sometimes hard to follow her words. International Visitors mostly are not familiar with the speed american people talk about things...
