I found a book the other day of Women's Fashion Through the Twentieth Century or something and it looked s o amazing but it was $65AUD and I had a whole $3 in my bank account so I just wrote it down for later and cried
@@Murimz a lot of people prefer books to be physical, including manga. music, games and other forms of media have mostly turned digital due to convenience but now pushing it to books is a little much. its nice to have a physical thing, you hold in your hand and you own. but that's just me.
For years I've been trying to find this book about dinosaurs I would rent from the library whenever it was available as a kid, I found it through you, It was "Dinotopia: The World Beneath" Thank you!
I can relate so much to everything you‘re saying. I am at art school as well, but I studie graphic design too and I would rather get into animation or like anything where I can draw traditionally. I would consider myself self taught too.
I know. That just came out of no where. It wasn't mean, but it seemed more aggressive in the moment. I was going to leave a comment about it because it was so funny but you already left one
Keep the video’s coming my guy, I discovered your channel like 4 days ago and I’ve binged all your videos and I love them all. Keep making great stuff.❤️👍❤️👍
I want to look into books that can help me improve my art skills & knowledge so this was really helpful, thank you so much! Keep up with the great content! :D
Check out your library, they often have classic books about the Renaissance artists and sometimes even other time periods. I do this to get the big artbooks that are too expensive. I borrow them, copy the paintings, drawings, then give them back to the library and borrow a new one.
I agree on your sentiment towards reference books. They motivate and inspire me a lot in my designs too! They are actually the thing that give me “ah i wanna try drawing this and that with this and that” lol
Hi I absolutely love your videos and your approach to art and I think it’d be really cool if you made a video on how you use reference. Although I’ve been drawing for many years I’d still consider myself a beginner and I’m looking to improve through channels like yours.
For me to show what you buy and cherish book wise is a such a personal look into person's mind. And yours is so specific and goal oriented with appreciation for beauty, loved it!
The nasa book is supercool! The only artbook art book I own is GRIS. It basically goes over all the art from concept to finish in the game and has very little text. I like it because you can see all of the animation frames for characters, how the architecture developed. It’s a pretty good visual development book if you just want to visually see how they got to the finished product. Though of course I would recommend it more to general illustrators than game artist, since it is more worried about the art than something like game functions, graphic UI and all those things usual industry games have.
Electric State is also my favorite Artbook. It's my goto for inspiration, to have the ability to tell stories visually like this, is the dream of a storyteller... Its the closest a single person can get to telling a movie-level story. I LOVE your channle
These are great choices! I'd also recommend of any of Superani's Kimjunggi's sketchbook collections! I have these books and they are all well worth purchasing! I haven't heard of the korean packaging book, but i will add that to my wishlist!
Hey, if you enjoyed 'Made in North Korea', you might be interested in the photography books by Fuel-design . They cover a lot of design and architecture from the post-Soviet countries, pretty much from cityscapes to wrapper design. Love your videos by the way!
I know I'm a little late, but I feel like you would really love a book called Soviet Bus Stops, the foreword is by Johnathan Meades, Damon Murray took the photos (I think). I found it super inspiring architecturally!
It's so funny, I walked into a bookstore 3 days ago just to browse and to see if they had a copy of Orwells 1984 because I recently got interested in reading "the classics". Left with the electric state. I'd never heard of it or the author/artist before. Now, 3 days later, I stumble across your youtube channel and since I liked the first video I saw begin to watch a few of them while working. And there it is again. It's like it's calling out to me or something. Strange haha. Another art book I can wholeheartedly recommend though is Jamie Hewlett, basically a collection of his works and it's great. Mostly comic style but also a few photographs, water color paintings and other stuff. And the dude has such a nice style.
I just found your channel and I love your videos! I love the funky music underneath, your use of colour and not least of all your content. Keep it up :)
I would recommend any of the concept art books by Disney! I own tangled, Moana, and brave and they’re immensely inspirational. Getting to see the process and all of the wonderful art that goes into each decision is amazing. There’s also a real mix of styles and subject. (I also enjoyed Hayo Miyazaki’s spirited away art book and Heikala’s art book if you want more concept art books)
A Book you may like, "Cargo in the Blood" by Russell Mills. It's all about the art that went into the Nine Inch Nails album Hesitation Marks. It's one of the most profound art books I've ever read. It's a little expensive though. Beyond the fantastic art (multimedia pieces), the textual content of the book is very philosophical and introspective. Russell Mills gives a very deep insight into his thoughts on art, and ideas such as the beauty of decay.
I picked up the book on "how to Draw" by Scott Robertson, and I just wanted today that it's helping me a ton with perspective drawing! Again, thanks for sharing Chroma Moma.
Love your videos + the aesthetic, keep it up : ). I was inspired to start my own sketchbook to keep everything I draw together. dunno if you take any suggestions, but would love to see a video on how you approach figure/people drawing ^^
Hi, Do you have the book called Vision: Color and composition for film? or maybe you have seen it? This book has been created by Hans P Bacher and Sanatan Suryavanshi and another question What do you think about Andres Loomis´ Books? and finally your channel is very inspiring to continue drawing. Thanks
Also if you want more free art books sign up to artschools newsletters; they send out free art books! I got a ton when trying to decided what art school I wanted to attend and they have a bunch of amazing art in them from their artist!
Very good recommendations. Also check out James Gurney's blog and TH-cam channel. A lot of great information, in particular about watercolour and gouache painting. He's masterful.
I went to a book store in fall and saw “made in North Korea” it really stood out because of the pink colour. I couldn’t buy it though and thought I could come back for it but it was all sold out :/
holy fuck as soon as I start the video there are gurney's lighting book and the tip of katsuya terada book glancing behind gurney... which have been right next to me for years now... that was kinda touching
apparently i'm spending a lot of money today
"if i walk into a bookshop it's game over" aaa i can relate to this sooo much

After "self" teaching myself animation for a few months ide love a teacher lmao

these vids are soo clean
Ikr and that makes you wanna watch them again and again
Great video! The North Korea book is so fascinating! It’s like getting a glimpse into the forbidden places you’d probably not visit yourself.
"if i walk into a bookshop it's game over" oh shit, I just subscribed.
Thanks for sharing this! I didn't realize how many amazing art books there were out in the wild.

Ive been EYEING that electric state book
This is really cool and educational. We need more of Artbook haul so we can learn which book to buy.
i no longer found an interest in picking up art books recent and i don't know why.. but this was good motivation to get back into it!
I can see the passion in the books.
I know I'm a little late, but I feel like you would really love a book called Soviet Bus Stops, the foreword is by Johnathan Meades, Damon Murray took the photos (I think). I found it super inspiring architecturally!
Thanks for this video!! I'm new to art books and I love the bit you said about reference books. 💖
Thanks for making a video about this! I love the books mentioned- Really enjoyed it. Keep it up with the great content :D

Thank you for the recommendations. I’ll definitely pick some of these up.
Try the works of Jene Giraud, like his Moebius series!
i like that 1st shot where the camera is in the closet

Nice ! Already came across one or two of these.
"How to draw" and "How to render" are the Bible books of 3D art
I have that problem, when I can't stop buying artbooks, n some art supplies, even if I don't have money at that specific moment
I really like the "Made in North Korea" book, do you know any more like that one?
If you do Amazon affiliate links, I would ask if you could consider having links for other regions. I personally use Amazon UK
My birthday's coming up and I now know exactly what I'm getting xD

Just started getting into sketching and trying to draw. Great Channel! Where do you usually look for your books? Solely through Amazon?
*sees James Gurney's books*
ah yes, a man of culture I see 😌
I legit thought that the white marks on the pink book was a floral like pattern and now all I think about is how relentless silverfish are.
Very good recommendations. Also check out James Gurney's blog and TH-cam channel. A lot of great information, in particular about watercolour and gouache painting. He's masterful.

"Figure Drawing Design and Invention"
By Michael Hampton
Is a very good anatomy art book an I totally recommend you buy it.
I remember i also used to just spending my hours inside of bookshops! Gosh my money go woosh~ hahaha
Please do a video on how to draw figures😭
Tks!
He had a “silver fish” problem in his bookshelf. ?
love this vid
How to Draw by Scott Robertson is not for the absolute beginner in Perspective.
Get Perspective Made Easy(book but paid)or use Drawabox which is free.
Is this book by Ernest Ralph Norling?
@@yingkaik I guess so.
I might be the first one to admit this but...
I thought silverfish were only in Minecraft
Do you have any books you'd recommend for anatomy?
Ten also means heaven BTW. :)
