Hey Florida Sportfish! Great show, a bit too many commercials... Would it be possible to discuss the trolling speed and show illustrations on how your setup looks in the water? Thanks
And I pull 3 high speeding. And half the time I go it alone. Swivel chair with a gimbal style em in too on straight rods with a big rope simple shoulder harness. J16 with a 30 gets up and stays at only 12-13 knots. I catch fish... from slow trolling in the sand at 40-60. To deep dropping to 8-900 for golds. To more than one snake at a time on one rod with a little trickery. Don’t hate cause he has a simple set of outriggers. I’ve seen 10 rods out on an 19’ mako.
@@MrT13 My comment was about his "yacht" that he called a "small boat" I know you can run as many rods as you want no problem. Not hating on capt Mike, he's a fishy dude and I learned a lot from his seminars. Just thought it was a funny comment.
Good timing, I'm just preparing (planning) our trolling spread for our Spring King Mackerel tournament(s) on the Gulf Coast. I also had 9-max or seven in mind, depending if we have three or four people on board. We most likely will use large live bait, Blue Runners, Blue fish or Spanish Mackerel, can you offer any thoughts on if using live bait will, or should change the configuration? I have a Andros 32 OffShore ...
Hi Mike, I went sailing in Greece last year with my buddy Martin, who has a sailing yacht there. I took my fishing gear with me and dropped my artificial lures all day for a week in the saronic gulf. You’ll find all kind of species there. I also sometimes put on Water Wolf Underwater Cams where I could see some Mahi, Dorados and even a Marlin chasing my baits but only chasing and watching it, never got a bite. SPEED: Problem is we have a very constant speed of 5 knots during sailing, sometimes 4-4.5. so actually a bit too slow for that typically high speed trolling of 6-10 knots with artificial lures. On the other hand I guess 4-5 knots are way too fast for trolling live baits. Can you tell me WHAT KIND OF LURES I should use to catch any fish during the next sailing trip? Maybe a combination of artificial one and live bait (pitch baits?), because we’re too slow to trigger a reaction bite? BIG THANKS!! Phil
Got a quick question, you said to the deeper planer close and set the smaller planer further back. Do you mean the leader is further back or the planer is further back. Thanks for the tips!
awesome content but why don't y'all bleed your fish right after getting it in the boat? Makes for much better meat and puts the fish out of its misery quickly.
Get the planer rod used in the episode at www.fsfgear.com/product/rod-planer/

says "the 9 line spread, were able to do this on a small boat" while one a 40ft seavee
I troll 5 on a j16 just about every trip. No riggers. You can put tacos on an 18’ or a 50’....

Nice video, thanks for sharing. Does that 390 have a gyro?
The 390Z does not come standard with a gyro system. However, such a system can always be added!

What reels do you guys use out there for trolling
Hello from Jersey
Got a quick question, you said to the deeper planer close and set the smaller planer further back. Do you mean the leader is further back or the planer is further back. Thanks for the tips!
Planer further back. Both planers should have 100 feet of 50lb mono/flouro running off of them
