60 ppm isn't shit with ammonia just doing routine maintenance on an isolated oil pot will produce more that 60 ppm only thing good about ammonia is its highly efficient doesn't harm the environment and is very detectable at very low concentration with your sense of smell
Day before yesterday our newbie employ forgot to shut the oil drain valve, when the ammonia on condenser unit got evaporated, due to back pressure the ammonia got leaked out like 3-5kg filled our entire factory, no one had training how to deal with type of mess & evacuated, and i dialed fire fighters thinking they may have hazmat and may be able to enter and shut the valve. they came and said they don't even have self breathing apparatus, i was like fuk this ran like hell inside the ammonia fog turned the compressor opened bypass valve and came back couldn't see and hold breath to shut the valve, i came running out side my eyes were red and insane nauseating headache due to breathing some gas. insane experience gives you a fear that it could kill you. pretty bad stuff i had ordered 3 self breathing apparatus with hazmat suit.
I'll give this video a like, first of all to honor the brave firefighters who put their lifes at stake to protect us, secondly this video reminds me of the time I worked at a CocaCola bottlung company in Germany, there you also have this huge halls with mashines, containers, acid tanks, chemicals and tons of other stuff in it, as a security guard I used to be all alone at night during rhe weekends which basically scared the shit out of me, even on daytime it was scary as hell. The problem was though, that if there was a technical or fire alarm, I had to investigate myself and this in my opinion is illegal. In the end, I didn't bother to make many rounds so I got fired. The CocaCola company doesn't care about the Guards coming from external security companies, not even a bit. I'm still getting goosebumps thinking about it.
MAN .... WORKED A JOB THAT REQUIRED UNLOADING AMMONIA TANKER TRUCK WEEKLY. ONE PARTICULAR TRUCK DRIVER ALWAYs REFUSED TO WEAR RESPIRATOR. "AAAAHHHH ..... I DONT NEED THAT F'ING THING ........" HAD AN ACCIDENT ...... HOSE COUPLING COMING FROM TRUCK KICKED LOOSE WITH HIM KNEELING ABOVE IT. HE WAZ JUS HOSED ...... I MEAN REALLY FLOODED ........ COMPLETELY INSTANTLY OVERWHELMED ....... LIKE FROTHING , PUKING , VIOLENTLY CONVUSING ........ CALLED PLANT FIRST RESPONDERs , DRAGGED HIM 2 SAFETY ...... I THAWT HE WAZ DEAD. SCARY SHIT. HE WOUND'UP BEING OKAY LATER. BUT WAZ DEFINITELY NOT OKAY INN THAT MOMENT. SCARY SHIT.

I'm a contractor for these systems as well and 60 ppms is what I have for breakfast.
Yup, just draining oil from the system you will pass 60ppm
60ppm is good for a whiff to wake you up in the morning… Like a good cup of coffee. Draining oil makes my scalp sting… Probably 299ppm… Maximum 😶

Imagine thinking that turnout gear with chem-tape was the same thing as a level a suit.
It could be the only thing they had access to
4,000 lbs of R717? Probably 60,000 PPM, not 60
