Great choice Kiwi! Nice to see an original car like this. I get tired of the typical “over restored” cars at most car shows.
Got quite a bit of attention at cars and coffee yesterday morning. Not like Marge gets but she was still appreciated!!
The same can be said about youtube videos. Turning into big infomercials.
Millions of similar Falcons and basic 6 cylinder Mustangs provided reliable and economical transportation for legions of drivers for many years, they were a staple of used car lots for many years - they would still show up on car lots well into the 1970's. This lucky Falcon has found the most sympathetic owner possible!
Very true!! Thanks for watching!!
Kiwi. Everywhere I take my 71 hg monaro gts. It gets covered in bugs! It's painted in silver mist,(that's goofy holden speak for mint green metalic) so I guess it looks like a plant!.cheers.
That's a good purchase right there...the type of vehicle not made by anybody now.simple...economical...some comfort...long lived..and rare.
Thanks man, glad you like it!! It's kinda funny that I like it for all the things that I would've turned my nose up at years ago. 🤔. Am I getting old or getting more evolved.....
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 eventually you mellow...no need for a 429 in that...save that for a torino or mustang..a 200 is well suited to its duty.much like the later maverick...a 289/302 is preferred but the 200/250 did all the work and kept going.
@@pl5624 exactly!!😎👍
I hit the like before even watching this.
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
awesome mate! luv those old falcons
Very nice inside. I’d drive it in a second.
Nice car Kiwi. Yes it is a sickness with old cars. I've had it most of my life, and I'm 71 now! Thanks for sharing.😊
Awesome! My first car back in 1985 was a 1964 Falcon Futura. Absolutely loved that little coupe! 260 V8 and a 2 speed automatic with power steering and brakes, nothing else.
I have a 1963 Falcon Futura with a 260 V8 and a 2-speed automatic without power steering or power brakes. I repaired everything but did not modernize it. Driving it gives me joy. :)
Just learned about your channel through Kevin Tetz, thanks for saving this Falcon. What a honey of a car! Thanks for taking us along ~ Chuck

The past 8 years I've been driving a Zephyr with a 200 six every day with no problems. I also have one with a 5.0 5spd but the six gets used the most.. This car owes me nothing . I love it.😁
200 six was an incredible engine.
Love your shirt!
God Save the Sex Pistols 😛👍
Excellent Kiwi,, love the patina bonnet on the cruise home,, John from Down under,,,
A car well deserving of rescue. You don't need a V8 to get out and have a good time. That old sweet heart will clean up nicely. Get out and enjoy it! 👍
That's the plan !!😎👍
Hahaha wasn’t wondering 🤷♂️ knew you would 👍 WTG!!! ✌️🤙
When ya know ya know right😉. I couldn't let it go to Pick a part !!!!
Good on you Kiwi for saving the old girl and not letting it go to the scrap yard. I think that will be an excellent daily for you mate but don't you think large Marge is going to be jealous? 🙂
Once I get A/C in Marge things will change😎😁
The 318 in my '76 Valiant sedan pops over like the Falcon- very easy. The engine is 9.45-1 CR, KB pistons, '70 340 crankshaft, used a pair of '90 fast-burn heads from a 360 ('308' castings), cam is 276/278 duration with .441/.441 lift, forged I-beam rods, Air Gap intake w/650 CFM carb, mini starter. King Machine in Burlington, NC did a phenomenal job on the machine work & balancing, can't say enough good things about the guys. Even used a "Trap door" air cleaner housing from a '72 340. To me, the biggest thing that helps it start so easy? The distributor. Sent that off to Advance Distributor (Minnesota), had it torn completely down, re-man'd with some improvements, the mechanical & vacuum advance set for the engine build combo. I'd even say the car runs better than if it were factory-fresh!
Sounds like a nicely thought out engine!!
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 me, the co-driver, & the car will be in Nashville for an event the 1st week of October. I've threatened to stop by the shop before, but it might be the perfect time!
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. So you too have the illness, 👀😎👍 we guys who automotive are the ones to save these little history ! Don’t get me wrong there are a few guys out there who take time to save vehicles like this . The have these great plans and then abandon projects. 🍩☕️👀😎👍

Cheers James, thanks for watching !!
Very cool
LMAO! Is that a poke at UTG @ 11:45 I totally dig the falcon, Kiwi. What a great find indeed!
Maybe......😉🤔
I love "Patina" cars.... they are just honest. No worries about spending months un-doing what someone else did, if they never did it the 1st place.
Great Find and a Great little car Kiwi!
edit to add
Where are the Hornets? I'll bet dimes for dollars that if you take those front fenders off you will find them. I can't count how many times I've grabbed ahold of a yellowjacket nest lifting off a fender that I've searched and searched for those little buggers.
Grabbing their nest is a good way to piss them off😳
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 Sitting here typing one handed after taking the fender off a 70 Lincoln.... yeah those little buggers where hiding above the turn signal tower.... lolololol.
@@BareRoseGarage ouch !!
I would have bought it too, Kiwi! Nice older 2 door. As we get older, we really don't need lots of horsepower. Way too easy to do something stupid and get a ticket or worst. This is a nice safe fun driver.
Good stuff Kiwi! Great car to keep original
I could go on & on about that car (I had a 66 Falcon wagon bought w/no engine trans) & what I had done to that and a 64Fairlane I had that was originally a stick 6. Both ended up with 302 Fords & C4's & I simply loved them both ! ! !
That wagon would've been cool !!!
Hornets nests: cowl, door jambs forward, and headliner. Buzzing and scent is what attracts them.
The cowl is the only place I haven't checked 😁👍. Yet!
Falcon awesome. MMMMM...cold beer.
Cold beer on a hot day. It's pretty dang good!!
Falcon Good 😂 Congrats Kiwi…. You did the right thing buying it…👍🏻 ENJOY
Very nice Falcon 👌
My grand father owned a few 3 on the tree falcons. 4 doors. My the 17 yr old uncle took pride in thrashing that old car. He told us nephews he needed to burn the carbon off for grandpa. Get er good n clean. Lol
😁 he left a lasting impression!!! 😎👍
I use my classic, a 1966 Buick wildcat Custom sport Coupe, as a daily driver. Nice to see a professional who also wants a classic daily driver.
Nice car Kiwi. If there’s no hive, check for a coolant leak. The wasps and hornets love the smell of coolant.
Great to see someone who appreciates a nice unrestored survivor car. You just don’t see many of those anymore. Nice to know that it will be enjoyed for what it is and not hacked up like so many other channels would do.
Thanks man and thanks for watching !!
Congrats on the purchase! Nice old econo cruiser should provide lots of smiles. Cheers! 😎👍🏎🏁🏁
Love large Marge being a nz mopar guy. But also love falcons. Got my driver's license in our family xw station wagon on 81. Haf an xp falcon for a while great cars . Cheers Col
I never had a Falcon growing up but now I have two!! I can see why they were so popular !!!
Glad to see she's found a good home! You don't see them that original much anymore and I know you're not gonna change it all up - some things are too pure to be messed with!👍
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Fantastic! Ive always been a chevy guy but i like many of the early 60's fords especially the 64 & 65 falcons
Great choice Kiwi. It a cool car!!
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Ha! I used to lay down on that rear shelf and just look up at the stars. That was back when light pollution was next to nothing, and 2-lane highways were the norm between cities.
It was a simpler time for sure😎👍
The Falcon is fortunate to have a new owner that will appreciate it for what it is and go through it from top to bottom to make it a nice, safe and fun "driver".
Thanks man and thanks for watching!
😁
Thought you might have. Good thing you don't have too many other projects on the go.
Ahh, that's where we got our Fairmont hub caps down here. As the saying goes, just because it's new, doesn't mean it's good. I'm actively collecting NOS parts, right down to little things like points & condensers. That's a cool touch, my ute's AM radio works too 😁 Wise move Kiwi, it's a very nice old car, even with its faults. Ask an AMC guy about the Hornets 🤪

Great solid project Kiwi. Thank you for saving it from being parted out or, worse, crushed.

This is great, I love it. Now I'm sorry I skipped Cars & Coffee this week. It's amazing the A/C works, fantastic! Like you, I've mostly had Mustangs, but I did own a 1960 Falcon wagon back in the day. And what a great way to spend your "day of rest" in your new Daily on a Sunday? (You're right, it's a "disease.")
I was pleasantly surprised with the A/C just added gas! I'll have her at another cars and coffee😁😎👍
you got a good one.
I think so yes!
I knew you couldn't resist! Good move, Kiwi. Keep us updated please. I like the shirt too!
Thanks man, the wife got me that shirt😎👍
Nice old bird Kiwi,take care
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
I'm liking that ol' Falcon more and more, mate. Thought she was a diamond in the rough last time we saw it and the sound of that engine pretty much echoes that sentiment. Having a hard time trying to figure out whether that's like a lichen or mould on the bonnet or if its surface rust. Either way it wouldn't take much to tart up and polish it back to looking grouse. After seeing her move, yeah, she mightn't be the quickest, but she gets a good enough shift on for an old six. If the notion hits you to pep it up a bit down the track, I'm for a set of extractors...and maybe a mild cam?....and she'll still look standard under the hood, but have a better economy and pickup.
As to her milage, I think I questioned it's being around the clock on the last one, hinting that she looks too clean to me to be a big milage car....and the way that six (and box) performs, no big whine from the diff, how the interior looks and the general condition of the bodywork and trim, I'm still leaning toward it being original miles. 160k miles is about 265k km and with the damage they pick up in carparks and how the driver's seat and door card plus the boot floor of the 60s / 70s cars deteriorate as they approach the 100k mile mark, that old girl looks like a fairly pampered low milage beast before being sat somewhere unhealthy for the paintwork for a while, to me. It's also unlikely someone would have spent the big bucks on a restoration of a plain jane....and if they did, they certainly wouldn't have let it deteriorate like what has happened to it.
In either case, it looks grouse, it sounds grouse and anything you do to it would make it better - and I'm glad you grabbed it. I love the beast as she is and would do as little as needs doing in order to preserve her, then get her on the road and - like you - used as a daily. Wishing I could fall across something like that myself, eh. It'd make my year!
All the best
Yes, the more I look and drive her the more I feel its original mileage. She's never been restored and it mostly original paint!! The hood and front fenders have rust staining which I think can be reduced significantly 😁. Cheers mate and thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts !
as an xr falcon owner i have to say i love this 👍
This car has been getting way more love than I ever anticipated !!
Definitely in good hands!

So falcon cool.
Thats a sweet ride, Kiwi!

Very cool. I wish we had such nice survivors up here in the North. All we see are rust buckets or full up restorations.
Love your shirt!!! Up the poms. UTG will be onto that failed new condenser big time so go talk to him. I knew you would buy it as it is quite a unique car car, especially if you brought it home to NZ. Cheers Ian NZ
Thanks man!! It's a favorite😎😁. How could I not buy it right 😉. What do you think that car would fetch in NZ?
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 Hi I have no idea on value here but I have never seen one like that here as most of the falcons came in from Australia and the 2 door was quite different.
Awesome! A stablemate to the convertible Falcon you have in the garage! Thank you for the video I appreciate you.
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Thank You Kiwi, did look like a customer came by when you were power washing..................Jay
It was someone wanting directions. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
hi wow great to hear you bought it. I commented in your first video about what happened to mine. Looking forward to see how you handle the salt damages underneath 🏁
Won't be doing much in the immediate future, got too many other cars to work on 😬
Those are beautiful cars nice pick
Yeah I've had condensers fail more than once. Even new ones. Carried a set of points and condenser at all times back in the day. Dash looks like my 67. Congrats.
I'll be doing that!! Cheers mate!!
My first car was a 69 falcon, black roof over dark green body, 200 ci strait 6 engine, hand me down from my dad. Wouldn't have been afraid to drive from NY to California and back, good all around car with room for 6. Did good in snow too with new Michelin m&s tires, slow motored up snow covered hills the 4X4 guys couldn't. Only problem back then was we couldn't find parts for it unless a junkyard had a rare one in it's lot.😅
I'm glad you pulled the trigger on that awesome ride. Cheers
Me too!! 😎👍
Great Falcon, Kiwi! I'm, sure you got a great deal on it. Congratulations!
Thanks man and thanks for watching !!
That's a nice little car, Kiwi.
Thanks man.!!
Nice buy
That aftermarket condenser was probably made in China. What a great little car. It makes this old man tear up a little.
Probably !! I'm going to carry a spare from now on!!
Drove by this morning while you were in the back seat. I thought it looked like you were cleaning the window. Now I know lol.
I was !!😁👍😎
Nice car, dependable, economical to operate, American made! 👍🇺🇸
Yup, all of the above!!
Nice car Kiwi. There is something special about driving old cars, very basic, user friendly and analogue. I get hire cars all the time when travelling for work and I hate having to figure out how to do the most basic things all the time on these modern appliances. The old cars take seconds to figure out, and when driving you feel very mechanically connected to the vehicle and not isolated from everything going on around you. The car I miss the most from my past is my Holden HZ station wagon with the little 253 V8, loved that car.
I totally agree!! 😎👍
Yep, nice car man I've been driving a 69 Falcon for well over 15 years. Nice to see a clean 3rd gen.Falcon on the road! 👍
Could be, I put it down to the a/c compressor.......
I stand corrected. And happily so. Congratulations.
Thanks man. What did you get corrected on??
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 I posted something to effect that given the potential cost of repairing the chassis it, the Falcon, should be sold for parts. Now that she’s in good hands everything has changed. A tip of the bourbon to ya mate.
Love it ! And agreed ! I’d just tend to what needs tending to and just enjoy that capable little gem ! Take care 🍺🍺
Cheers mate!!
I'm glad you bought it Kiwi. Yeah it's got its problems underneath, but it couldn't have a better guy
to fix those issues. I would almost bet that the mileage is correct. You couldn't ask for it to start any
better than it does. Lookin forward to seeing more videos of the old girl...
Every now and then a really well built car comes along, and I'd say that's what you've got there, it'll just run and run. Great old car.

Nice old Falcon 😊. You may know, but "CLR" cleaner does a pretty nice job on the rust stains on old paint - the paint will still be old, but it's a nice improvement 🙂
Excellent, that mint spare was the real deal!
Yeah it is 👍😎😁
Dana "60" Glass. I love it. This would be a great cruiser. I know a lot of folks would want to see a 289, or a 302 go in it, but not me. Although a V8 would be fun, this is a factory survivor. Great buy Kiwi!
Yup the six is staying in it for the foreseeable future😎👍
We had a Falcon XT wagon in OZ when I was a lot younger, I would love to have a two door one now, which we did not get in Australia.
Make me an offer I can't refuse😁👍
Oh You get a title
lol. Absolutely 😎😁👍
Ka-Kaaaaw ! Or whatever a flying falcon says .😊
lol 😄. That's exactly how a Falcon sounds....😎👍
Nice buy! FYI, I've had TWO new condensers quickly fail, in two different cars, in the last 10 years . I always carry the old parts in the trunk, so both times, I changed the new condenser for the old one, and the car started right up. It seems a lot of "new" parts fail these days. Enjoy the Falcon. I'm slightly jealous!
It's a thing. Quality control is something we had last century......
Nice rig, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Cheers mate!! Same to you 👍
Wow, congrats buddy - I was blown away by the condition of the gauges/dash, then you hit the 0.3second crank & start! A/C to top it off, I almost felt that chill!
. Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
I knew you would, lol! Because you know how easy it is to re-gig with that 34 years of Ford production on coil over A arm and leaf spring Unibodies. Ford in Australia was still making 116 inch wheelbase variants in 1994..
I remember a lot of them with the rear jacked up, painted primer black and with glasspack mufflers in the 1970s. Some had 289s or 302s in them. Not sure if I ever saw one with a 351.
The 351 was an Aussie addition 😎👍
Whoever considered scrapping that car is a idiot! Those were good cars and it has landed in the right persons hands. Btw most foreign accents can be a little hard for me to understand but yours is cool and perfectly understandable!
Thanks man, my accent has softened over the last 16 years. People had a bit trouble understanding me when I first got here. 😬
Hee. (Hornets under the wiper cowl, maybe?)
That one looks like a pretty good candidate for my 'Granny Colors and spunky wheels' not-quite-sleeper style. I'd refresh the cream paint, make fairly modest improvements to power and set up for handling, have some fun. :)
I'm gonna check the cowl !! For now she's staying stock standard 😎👍. But things change.....
Only way to know if the mileage is accurate on that car, is to have a proper look at things like the power train and the back of the instrument cluster. As Ford was very good about putting date codes everything along with the OEM part numbers. When I tore my 1965 Ford F-100 apart, I was finding date codes on everything from the speedometer, wiper motor, fuse box, blower motors you name it. Even the engine codes matched the vin, the pistons was still stock even though the cylinder walls was wrecked and had to be bore 100 over to get it running again. Things like that are the only way to know, so you might scope the engine to look for over sized markings.
Some more investigative work is needed but my gut says it's original and I say that trying hard to be as real about it as possible.
50 years ago, new condensers didn't fail. Today, new EVERYTHING fails. That Falcon actually looks like a car. I remember when 2 door cars outsold 4 door cars. Now all you see on the roads are 4 door taxi trucks and "crossovers"
How much was a condenser 50 years ago? My one was $6.99. Too cheap in my opinion, I'd rather pay $16.99 for a good one that didn't cost me an $85 tow.....
Kiwi, you got it👍 I Saw VGG take a Brillo pad to the rashy surface rust on a old DeSoto, and it really did a great job of getting the surface rust off and leaving the paint that was Under the rust. Put some shine juice or pops patina over it... Bob's yer uncle!!👍🏁
Brillo pad.... worth a try !! Thanks man
Kiwi, i bet youve got a nest somewhere in the cowl. Might be able to drown them out, of course you'll probably need to mop out the fkoorboards.
Glad you saved it. I thought it was a too nice to send it to the junk yard, too.
The cowl seems like the place ...... I haven't checked there, yet
My uncle had 1 of these new in 67 . A friend did 1 late 70s like uncle Tonys slaghammer with hi po 390 and C6 . If it were mine the 5.0 HO from my rusty F150 would be rumbling in there with the AOD and probably a locker 8.8 from a Ranger . I had a Mustang with your driveline combo back in 78. But it just wasn't me so I remade a Sprint into a GT with help from a Ford parts guy who able able t get Boss suspension bits at dealer cost and a lot of original run body trim long before NOS was a thing . Good Luck with this find
Cool story, thanks for sharing!!
I wish people would stop calling the car thing a disease. Playing with old cars is a valid hobby.
Very true!!
Re hornets/bees: Had a '70 Swinger with a "Top Banana Yellow" paint job... Always had bees around the car... Later in life, I drove a school bus... There too, bees everywhere... it's the yellow colour... They think it's a big flower ... As long as it's yellow, you'll have bees!
Perfect
