When I was child my family had 2 Doberman Pinchers they paroled a large walled in yard with a gate. A man would come by and give them a treat every day for a couple of weeks. They were trained to not take treats from strangers but my grandmother thought it was ok because he seemed friendly. One morning we all woke up to find both dogs dead. They had been poisoned. 2 nights later we were robbed. No one ever saw that "friendly" man again. Needless to say I don't like when anyone feeds my dogs through the gate or if any strangers try to feed them.

my dog.. I lost her 3 months ago, used to lay her face on its side and stick her snout under the side gate.. to get a good sniff at passersby. lol.
Dogs are the greediest creatures I know. They want all the love they can get but unbeknownst to them, they end up giving even more the other way ❤

I always ask permission to give treats to a dog. And I appreciate when people ask me also. I foster a lot of different dogs with different temperaments and they need decompression time before socializing with all new people and dogs. I like to foster two at a time so they help each other adjust.

My 96 yr old dad loved going to the fence to greet the neighbors dog & have a chat. Bought his own box of treats for him. He didn't have to take care of him, just enjoy his company.

I have two furbabies, i love them. I also love my neighbors dogs, strangers dogs, my families dogs, any dog that are sweet and friendly. But those who barks, butes, not friendly no no no hahaha. Good friendly dogs are taught well by their owners.

When advising on landscape design I always advise leaving a 2-3 foot wide dog path around the perimeter fence line. Dogs will always walk the perimeter, so just make it part of your layout.

The little boy and the guy and his dog playing ball with the neighbor dog got me good. I have a little dog that will bite anyone and has been a source of anxiety for years. But anyone that has come and threw her ball has certainly gained favor. Still can't touch her but she might come sit with you. Which sometimes just makes it more nerve wracking but at least she let you know you are worthy of her presence. Big honor.

I’m just a happy love dog kind of guy. I’m even as happy when an animal becomes happy or lovable after having a moment of sadness or grumpiness from something tragic like doggie jail. I wish there were no animals in those.
