+kopfjager68 You know absolutely nothing if you think this tank would be anything more than an absolute waste of resources. It couldn't cross any rivers or bridges in the entire world unless the river was very thin, it would absolutely DESTROY all roads it came across and it would get stuck in any muddy terrain and slowly sink in to the point where it would be impossible to recover. Plus, one bombing run would destroy this tank. There is a reason battleships became useless after World War II and already during it, because air superiority became a much more important strategical need. Battleships with countless AA batteries were helpless against air attacks, now imagine this behemoth that can't even move properly. This was one of the most idiotic tank designs the Germans came up in the war, the first most idiotic was the P-1500, which was an even bigger pile of junk. It would be absolutely useless.
Supposedly it would have used the same turret as Gneisenau with the center gun removed, but the actual guns would be the shorter 52 caliber 28cm guns used in the Deutschland class, rather than the 54.5 caliber 28cm guns used in the Gneisenau.
Actually the turret was never pulled from any warship of the German Kriegsmarine, this is simply because the Ratte was never built not even a prototype. It remained only in blueprints, merely an idea, nothing more nothing less.
well, if it really was built i guess they could use the same tactic i would use in a zombie apocalypse with only 1 zombie. walk around it, go for a coffee, get to work. Pick up some groceries, visit a friend. Go home, walk around the zombie again...and be done with it.
not really, not a single bridge would be crossed by one of these, if one would move at all. And it would take one airplane with some proper bombs to blow one up.
jimmy s yes, the mobility is bad, just like the maus's, but thats why its for defensive or siege operations, not for assault where mobility is key. IF an airplane would even get in a 1km radius around the ratte, it would die quickly because of the 2 flak guns and support flak tanks.
it depends on what you call an aa. What i mean by this are rapid weapons able to penentrate basic armor or very light armor. If you call an aa a big large weapon shooting explosive rounds in the sky which explode there, sure, its bad.
This thing would be all and well if the turret traversal was slow as fuck, and it was way way way slower moving around. The rear double Maus turrets are a bit much as well, instead of just a sandbag position for infantry with an 88 on there. Loading speed is way to fast as well, because this bad boy would need at least 20 guys loading each barrel. (for reference: Big Bertha needed a 100 men) That way you can have a giant railway gun on the field, that also needs support to not get overwhelmed.
TheSquidPro The Big Bertha (dicke bertha) uses a 6 men crew... I think you mean the Gustav... which was a 100 crew... not just for loading. Also the P1000 uses a dual turret 28cm SK C-34 naval cannons... which can fire a shell every 17 seconds each cannon... with a trained crew and with the mechanical assist system. NOW... the traverse speed is too hella fast... I agree there, its completely unrealistic even for the intended 3ple turret with one cannon barrel removed the time to traverse is wayyyy toooo fast
TheSquidPro You underestimate the Germans.Strumtiger had 380mm gun and was reloaded by 5 persons so this thing don't need to have 20 persons per gun to reload
Assono that is true but that one was a rocket launcher, just like the bertha howitz doenst need that many to load. this one may need more crew than just 5 there is a bit of a difference between this and a naval gun but yeah basically you are right this one doesnt need 100s
There is a really really huge flaw into having this. It's vulnerable to Bombers, it 's slow, it may take 5 minutes s to reload the big gun, and it is possible to have infantry place high explosives on the sides of the tank where the gun depression wouldn't reach them.
The project was cancelled before it was even built, building a mobile fortress could take years and use up so much materials, plus, the ground may not even be able to withstand something that's too heavy to handle
it wasn't going to be used in frontal assualts also it would have support with other tanks the plan was to roll it up and be about 3-4 miles back amd rain down fire for support
I bet if it was built it would be so slow that foot soldiers would be able to run around it going "Na na na na naaaah! Can't hit me!" I wonder if only 1,000 grunts could simply climb up the sides and overpower the turret gunners. It would need a LOT of support tanks just for protection. :D
Captain Fordo cause its not a sniper is a 3rd person cod with snipers. When do you think in a sniper game you imagine large distances and calculate the bullet fall but instead of that you got a cod

There are so many idiots who think German tanks were unreliable that it hurts my sanity. Listen here you 7 year olds, even the worst WW2 historian in the whole universe acknowledges the fact that German tanks were by far more reliable than anything the Allies came up with. "Tiger was too heavy, stuck in mud and engine would break". Lol, what? Your Shermans and T-34s would even refuse to move after you repaired them. German tanks rarely broke down. Only the very first Tiger prototypes were bad and Panthers. The later ones were absolutely perfect in every aspect. The Tiger wasn't slow as you think. That thing could keep and superior to the Sherman in muddy terrain, despite its size and weight. Tigers, like all German tanks, used regenerative steering, hydraulically operated - the separate tracks could be turned in opposite directions at the same time, so the Tiger I could neutral steer (pivoting in place) , and completely turn around in a distance of 3.44 meters (11.28ft). This used to take by surprise many unlucky enemy crews! Also, the reality is that the Tiger I was not slow at all: The Panzer IV road speed was 40 km/h. Cross country speed was 20 km/h. The Panzer III (Ausf E to N) road speed was 40 km/h. Cross country speed was 18 km/h. The Tiger I road speed was 38 km/h. Cross country speed was 20 km/h. "But then why are we told that Tigers broke down?" First and obvious reason is propaganda. Second reason, is the fact that there were thousands of Shermans and T-34s that would quickly get replaced if one was damaged, however there were not that many Panthers or Tigers, so everytime it had engine or transmission problems it would need some time to get repaired. P.S- Your tanks never won the war. Your ridiculously numerous infantry and air force did.
+John Highway Actually, German tanks especially towards the end of the war suffered from crippling amounts of break downs, that combined with poor numbers of tanks being produced meant that it was rare for there to be a full-strength Panzer platoon from 1944 onwards (a standard tank platoon was 5 tanks, if the germans were lucky they could field 3 tanks per platoon). Also for the fact, the Germans went pretty ridiculous with the later panzers which were over-priced, over-engineered, and to unreliable to be worth a damn. Compare this to the M4 Sherman and T-34, which were cheap, reliable, and still offered a good punch and a good amount of protection for their crews (the myth that it took 5 shermans per tiger is just that, a myth, the smallest armored formation was 5 tanks, and you dont play fair in war)
Lt.Col.Tanker The Tigers was already enough, they ate so much fuel and was so unreliable, it speeded up the war xD Imagine a Ratte :3 the entire fuel reserve of Germany per km xD
Main thing I noticed that can take it out is it’s own cannon do not be close to a building and let the ai aim it as a few maps it hit the building right next to it and the blast killed its own crew
tamenga88 Luckily the Allies had the numbers... nothing else. Germany had the best submarines, the best tanks, one of the best infantry weapons, the best machine gun MG42, the best 88mm artillery gun, one of the best air planes (they even created the jet engine) in the war and also the best generals in the war using one of the most efficient combat tactics. The Blitzkrieg. Also the best trained soldiers. If it wasn't for the russians USA and Britain would have surely lost the war. They did almost nothing to Germany in the early and mid stages of the war. The german army cassualties at the Eastern front were like 90%. If the USSR and Germany actualy were allies the USA and England would have been steamrolled. England almost the whole war in Europe turtled in their island holding for dear life while the russians took the main blow. Sadly Germany had the worst ally in Europe... Itally who was almost useless. USA created the A-Bomb with the HUGE help from german scientists after Germany surrendered. USA and the USSR with the aid of german scientists also got a HUGE boost with their space program. England and USA liberated only France while the Russians whole Europe (they ocupied it anyway...) USA and Britain dont know how to build a descent tank in those times. That pile of crap Sherman is a joke. The Tiger can eat it like its nothing. Anyway. I got carried away. I think you get the point.
There was a design for a tank called the p 1000 it had 1 battleship gun on it and was designed as a mobile bunker, it never was built though for obvious reasons.
Well actually the Russians did copy the B-29 calling their "new" design the Tupolev 4 which was pretty much the same except for instead of MGs it had Cannons for the gunners they actually got their hands on some B-29s when some were critically damaged and forced to land in Russia the crews got interned and the B-29 was copied.
This thing is insane! If it would have ever been built, I wonder how much it would have weighed and how many men would have been needed to operate this monstrosity.
It would break down after 10 km of driving... Not to mention that it would be just a giant bullseye for the airforce. It would have the same problem as the railgun.
The Shermanator Those two are TD though, I mean the upcoming Japanese paper HT. ritastatusreport.blogspot.nl/2015/07/comparison-of-japanese-heavies.html ritastatusreport.blogspot.nl/2015/07/type-2605-compared-to-other-tanks.html
IRL, this thign can't be penned by any sort of ground weapon. Might be able to disable it with a lot of artillery strikes. This thing got battleship tier armor. Well maybe those large siege rail artillery germany seemed to love fielding. Well I always thought the 6inch armor was on the roof not rear.
Hey sherman! I love your vids, always enjoy them. I would suggest you to make an online battle in MOWAS 2 using the italian faction in GSM. And maybe some Battle of Empires? PS. Sorry for my bad english, but I'm italian.
Illuminati.com Grazie for your comment! It is hard to find an online game with GSM :( - I can try but I cant promise anything, I will try to do more BoE!
this game must of been developed by the creators of Soldiers: heroes of ww2...the eyeball, V on top of the tank, the animations, sounds, all sound alike even the map
germany did build 2 prototypes but they weren't fully tested when then russians took over the testinggrounds, they also conducted some tests with the rat and came to the conclusion that it was to big to be practical
the problem about that monster is that it is only for sentries not for real tank combat cuz it will destroy bridges or even the ships easily so its practically a tank for defense or if you find it in a flat field run but the problem is its a reflective for artllery and bombings so DROP THE HIROSHIMA BOMB NI THAT TANK!
I think that I have asked a very interesting query! Any chance of the most up-to-date British Army tank - the Challenger 2 - having a go? Second time in asking.

It's like Hitler was constantly trying to compensate for something. He constantly was building things bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Artillery pieces, tanks, ect... Hell, he had an underground Barrel in a mountain pointed towards England that stretch for I think was like half a mile

First and obvious reason is propaganda.
+John Highway whereaboo and nazi sympathizer
+DaHuntsman1 As said John before, they WERE reliable.
Kols2698 the Early tanks were reliable, the later tanks were not
DaHuntsman1 Any proof ?
For historical accuracy, COD WWII will have this tank for a kill streak reward.
Think if that monster was made history might not be the same
Jessica Swift
Right.
The Axe would have colapsed even more quickly.
Yeah, somewhere there'd be a 1000 tonne tank hull used a a monument.
Because, you know, airplanes.
Think about how much fuel you would need for that... and Germany did not have a lot of fuel.
Lt.Col.Tanker The Tigers was already enough, they ate so much fuel and was so unreliable, it speeded up the war xD
Imagine a Ratte :3 the entire fuel reserve of Germany per km xD
Jessica Swift That thing would have been extremely vulnerable to bombing. A single 1000lb bomb would render it absolutely destroyed
Cool fact, with the 2 U boat engines, technically it could go up to 44 Km/H
no red dragon today ;( hope new episode is tommorrow
Holloween Gaming Red Dragon was 2 days ago XD - I do like one episode every 2-3 days :D
alright thats fine by me :D
Main thing I noticed that can take it out is it’s own cannon do not be close to a building and let the ai aim it as a few maps it hit the building right next to it and the blast killed its own crew
Was that its actual size? Holy shit, the Nazis were crazy...
schlaumensch actually it's a bit bigger
OF COURSE THE NAZIS WERE CRAZY
both sides had crazy ideas.
The Mailman Hello brother!
tamenga88 Luckily the Allies had the numbers... nothing else.
3/10, tank not big enough.
the ratte is a idea that comes from big battle ships, were now in a time of airpower,
and going to robot power.
German technology is world best!!!
Here comes a russian who uses stolen german technology of ww2
Да))))
Well actually the Russians did copy the B-29 calling their "new" design the Tupolev 4 which was pretty much the same except for instead of MGs it had Cannons for the gunners they actually got their hands on some B-29s when some were critically damaged and forced to land in Russia the crews got interned and the B-29 was copied.
Russians assassinated little kids like a few weeks ago
Ren lonioen
YOU UTTER FOOOOOLL, GERMAN SCIENCE IS THE FINEST IN ZA WORLD! WE CAN DO ANYTHING
the crews of the AA guns would not be able to sit outside when the main guns fire; the concussion would injury or kill them.
tier 1 in wot XD
Noah lol slightly
That's a battleship gun mount on the tank. How can the enemy win?
Easy. Bomb it.
Phoenix Fire it has the 3 wirbelwind turrets for AA
Unsuspicious Civ. Actually.. its Anti Aircraft Artillery so AAA is correct but so is AA as in Anti Aircraft
Unsuspicious Civ. no.. because he said Battleship AAA which is Battleship Anti Aircraft Artillery which still makes sense
Gerson Pontes you get trolled so easily I doubt your IQ or level of internet world knowledge.
What would happen if 2 P. 1000s would do a duel?
That's what I was thinking:-)
Soon;)
The Shermanator Confirmed?
Its like king kong vs godzilla
DeluxeMorso They'd run out of fuel on the way to the spot they decided on.... ;)
They made a Main Turret for the P.1000, it was repurposed to a naval defense battery, it still exists today
The Tank was being developed but the war was over before the tank could see combat... Thank god,
The closest time we ever came to a real-life Baneblade.
4:37 i heard one solider screaming "GOD DAMNIT"
This thing is insane! If it would have ever been built, I wonder how much it would have weighed and how many men would have been needed to operate this monstrosity.
it's weight would have been around 1000 metric tonnes therefor the name P1000 ratte and ratte means rat.
They also had plans for the P-1500 monster
It would break down after 10 km of driving... Not to mention that it would be just a giant bullseye for the airforce. It would have the same problem as the railgun.
More like 500m lol
Holy nipple nuts I thought the Maus was huge imagine if this role out during WW2 it would get hammered by bombers though.
Elk army Would make a nice bomber target indeed
The Shermanator That kinda reminds me of the upcoming Japanese Heavies in WoT. Some of them are even bigger than the Maus.
Maree Printemps the Ho-Ri 1 and 2 were very massive tanks :)
The Shermanator Those two are TD though, I mean the upcoming Japanese paper HT.
ritastatusreport.blogspot.nl/2015/07/comparison-of-japanese-heavies.html
ritastatusreport.blogspot.nl/2015/07/type-2605-compared-to-other-tanks.html
Maree Printemps ahh thanks! lol sorry im not up2date on WoT!
i am so glad this wasnt actually finished in real life
Seems like this was more of a coastline/navy denial, and area denial weapon when paired with fighter jets and anti aircraft weapons
The Ratte was first idealized by Hitler in late 1920-30s but the defense ministry said no, so the King tiger was its gradson
Love how there is Maus turrets in the back
Boss Gamers haha
Hard with GSM? It's hard to find a PVP game in MOWAS period.
Reese Tompkins ^
I remember when you had 7 thousand subs!
Die Ratte: " How do I look ?"
Tiger 2: " Like a target "
Zamolxes77 Hahaha
That's why you protect the Ratte with 5 Tigers and 5 Panzers and a company of SS & a platoon of AT specialist lol (220 in total)
And here we can see a mother P.1000 protecting her young.
+Austin Erickson hahahahaha
This thing could also not go on paved roads, because it's so heavy it would destroy the road.
this game must of been developed by the creators of Soldiers: heroes of ww2...the eyeball, V on top of the tank, the animations, sounds, all sound alike even the map
germany did build 2 prototypes but they weren't fully tested when then russians took over the testinggrounds, they also conducted some tests with the rat and came to the conclusion that it was to big to be practical
That was the maus
Wim DG You're thinking of the MAUS, this was made into blueprints and was never considered for further advancement.
+Wim DG
From the Ratte only one tank tread and a small part of the Armour was ever build
the problem about that monster is that it is only for sentries not for real tank combat cuz it will destroy bridges or even the ships easily so its practically a tank for defense or if you find it in a flat field run but the problem is its a reflective for artllery and bombings so DROP THE HIROSHIMA BOMB NI THAT TANK!
I had an idea. One Ratte in the middle of a map, and players fight to take control of it.
Trices Mailwind hahaha that sounds awesome but a bit tough
"how much does that thing weigh" its called the P1000
+12733s that has nothing to do with it; I researched it :)
You know honestly the Germans sure did have the most maddest inventions ever. That old saying goes 'Go big or go home'
Wtf?!!!! The fucking size of that!!!! That would literally kill the battlefield
also the main gun on the ratte was the same gun off of a standard battleship
it was built but not finished it was basically a "prototype" and that it never was release to go in combat
***** well shit... I have no time to argue so Ok ! :)
According to some German scientists and leaders the chassis was built but it was never found and they refused to give up the location.
I don't know about the chassis, but rumor has it they built the turret, and ended up using it as a coastal defense battery.
Technically its two 280mm naval guns double barrel, they're both separate guns in one turret
They should build a modern version of one of these it would dominate the battlefield
no it wouldn't.
+David Bessey Of course it wouldn't dominate. But any armies invading would be obliterated
+David Bessey haha idiots, right?
no not even close to dominating anything that thing would be number one to screw a country's economy
The only thing it'd obliterate is the logistics, economy, and efficiency of the country who builds and tries to operate it.
Woah great vid m8
I've seen the Ratte in Captain America. I wonder how this brute would cope with Updated Challenger 2 tanks. Put 50 of them up against it.
I think that I have asked a very interesting query! Any chance of the most up-to-date British Army tank - the Challenger 2 - having a go? Second time in asking.
Its sad that this actually never got to see the light of day
if you saw that thing aiming at you how scared would you on a scale to 1-10
Sherman have you play battlefield 1942 with the forgotten hope mod?
yeah I've seen that beast of a tank before but I remember it being bigger.
just imagine you sitting in your trench and this tank rolls up .. maybe you want to open fire with an bolt rifle or an mg..
1 thing I have wondered is if the Italian army could be useful if led correctly
Need help Need some help on 0.mi , what is difference of player 0 & player 4 in diplomacy (with 1 as user side & 2 as enemy side. Also what is { Extender enumerator } , how to use it ??
The Turrets are from Bismarck and Maus
Imagine track bashing on this bad boy. Impossible, probably. A damaged track would take forever to fix.
"I'm about to drop the hammer and deliver indiscriminate justice!"
If you can, do one like this video using the P.1500 Monster
It's like Hitler was constantly trying to compensate for something.
He constantly was building things bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Artillery pieces, tanks, ect... Hell, he had an underground Barrel in a mountain pointed towards England that stretch for I think was like half a mile
