Hi..... Jason and Lorraine and Penelope nice to see you all, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🎥👍👍👍
Work and fun. That is what life is about. You take such good care of all your animals. They will nourish your bodies well also. Circle of life. Wonderful bubbles. 💖🐔🐷💞
Having chicks in the house brought back a memory of hatching chicks in my third grade classroom. I was teaching one day and the children just weren’t looking at me. I was getting irritated, but I turned around and the chicks were perching on the side of the box, watching me teach. What a fun memory. We all laughed. The children always loved hatching chicks.
Lorraine, I'd love to see some sewing videos! Maybe a simple tutorial, or a little tour of the items around the house you've sewn. I adore that market dress you made and wore in an Instagram post the other day, and would love to see more of that side of your life!
Same here. I'd like to see your herbals, all the different foods you "put up", the different recipes you do with all those meat birds, and a tour of your house. Looks like your in a manufactured home like me. Of your in a manufactured home, tell us about the door to your pantry. The door on rollers that Jason made. I'd love one like that, but how do you hang a heavy door like that with cardboard (Lol) walls!.
Chickens and chicks are everywhere. They sure like being on grass. The brothers are getting huge! Those giant bubbles looked like fun for the whole family.
It is so refreshing to see the entire family playing and having fun with the giant bubbles. Ya'll have always played with Penelope which not only keeps you young at heart, but also, helped her learn how to stare and play with others. God Bless
I appreciate how steady you guys are with your place. Its so easy when you get started to over do it. You guys just take it slow and I think you do a great job. Leaves room to appreciate it all.
Y'all we really want to thank you for helping us have content new content through this somewhat nervous time in all of our lives this is something that should tell everyone in every country that not one person is better than another we should be there for all this is something that shows all we should be together thumbs up my friends
Horseradish will heat you up in a heartbeat!! Vinegar is just a diluent - I prefer cream with mine as it mellows horseradish’s heat - those roots that big are HOT!!
My mom used to make horseradish every easter. She would get it from a Czech deli in Minneapolis, grind it and add pickled beet juice. So our horseradish was always red in color. It would sit in the fridge for 2 weeks and MAN OH MAN was it strong! I loved it. Brings back memories. Thank you! Shalom and Blessings from Missouri!
The first farm I farmed on had a 60+ year old horseradish bed. We dug roots at big as my lower leg. No matter how much we dug we always had a steady supply of horseradish. When we prepared ours it was way too hot to take a half forkfull like you did. I really like homegrown horseradish on fish beef and pork. Most of ours went as gifts to people who didn't grow it. We gave away living roots too to people who wanted to start a bed. No matter how much we dug it always came back.
Jason and Lorraine - how far you have come on your journey has been so incredible to watch and my husband and I have learned so much from you both. Leaving the "comfort zone" is not easy but we have been inspired by you both to leave this city life and join in on homesteading. We are sick of the rat race and sick of not knowing what's in our "supermarket food". We started our own journey and are documenting it on TH-cam. We would love support and feedback from anyone wanting to follow us along so be sure to subscribe!
That sounds so tasty. I love a smear of horseradish (horsey sauce) on my prime rib and roast beef sandwiches. I need an Arbys. Maybe after we get out of quarantine.
I absolutely your family and what y’all are doing! Bi would love to live that life!!! Your daughter is gorgeous and precious and all of you are awesome. I look daily to see if y’all have a new video! Prayers and blessings to y’all!
what a beautiful horseradish root. I mix my horseradish with a bit of beet juice to give it a nice pink color. Your homestead has come a long way since when you began. It is nice to see the changes. Fun way of ending the video. A family that plays together stays together. Thanks for the content and entertainment!
My hubby makes the horseradish. As grinding up adds half an half, bit of sugar and bit of white vinegar. As mixing up in blender he will taste a few slivers for the taste he is looking for...when he responds breathlessly that's good, is how he likes his. When he makes sauce with it for shrimp he makes his, then I take his spoon half full and add lots more ketchup for my taste.
Back in the mid sixties I was stationed in Japan. I walked to a road side teriyaki shed to have a bite to eat. Seeing the yellow paste near by I assumed it was mustard, and smeared a generous amount on the meat. 10 minutes and a couple of beers later I could breath again. It was wasabi sauce. LOL Thanks for the memory.
I kept some meat birds inside my garage for a time because of cold temps and boy did they create a lot of dust all over everything. Thanks for your videos. God Bless.
i like horseradish i used to buy it from a local family but they dont see it anymore. i am going to start looking for local grown produce and other foods this year. i dont need much being a single man but watching these videos as well as others inspire me to eat local foods.
LORRAINE, I use to keep my chickens in the Master Bathroom Soaking Tub. I did this for years. They are just to dirty, they create so much dander it would coat the whole bathroom. They are now started in a horse trough in the garage the out to a wooden brooder in my barn. Then out to the coop. I total understand.
Another great video guys!! ❤️. And I know y'all are super busy but if Lorraine could maybe share a video on how she makes the homemade cornbread. Looked so good! And awesome horseradish! Never grown it, never used it...but now again, y'all are inspiring me to give it a try! Thank YOU!! ❤️
Jason, just the right mix of your daily routine and new content. Making due with what you have teaches many lessons and strengthens you resolve. Keep up the good work!
we make our how horseradish each year for Passover, you can mix it will beets ground up or mix it with mayo plain or also with beets for 2 nice spreads on sandwiches. its really nice on a turkey or chicken sandwich, i loved your expression when you felt how sharp it was, reminds me of my sons when they were younger and wanted to be a big like the older kids, i really enjoy your channel and learn so much thanks for all you do
It is so much fun to see your progress. You're showing how to be sustainable. It's a lot of work, but it's good work that has such incredible rewards. Great camera work, Penelope! :)
I stopped using straw for hilling up my potatoes and switched to hay. Cheaper and it breaks down faster! I think I get less weeds too. Thank you for sharing.
what a busy day. I love learning about the animals. Bernice was outta there! lol.. seeing how the older animals relate is interesting..I know you all work very hard, but enjoyed the part with the bubbles.
Its been my experience that horseradish will grow back from the root left in the ground. Here in New Brunswick it will take over a whole bed if left unchecked. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. Here it's a good thing. We mix ours with some mayo at service time. Yummy
That horseradish looks fantastic! Will have to plant some. But we might even have some in our yard already. I'm dreaming of getting chickens, and our town has an 11 chicken limit. But for a family of 3, that might be enough: 7 meat chickens and 4 egg layers. Thanks for your inspiring videos!
Wow! You guys have an awesome set up for your chickens! Great Job! We just bought 12 baby chicks ourselves - mostly for egg laying - but we bought 2 for meat chickens. This is our first experience raising chickens so its a learning experience for us and has been pretty exciting! They grow super fast! We watch a lot of you guys' videos on your chickens and pigs - that's next on the list lol. Thanks for your knowledge!
Awesome vlog! Love seeing how the farm is looking ! We’re getting our first ever pigs in May. Getting some good tips from your vids ! Keep up the good work!
Awesome video love it ❤ thanks for sharing. Y'all always bring joy watching your lil family. We are just now getting started homesteading. We have layers and some ducks and geese. I want pigs and goats ❤ one day praying anyways. I ❤
Glad to see all the chicks are doing well. But your Cornish cross will probably take longer to get up to weight than 8 weeks. Because your birds are not raised with 24 hour lights like in the big farms. Good luck with all your birds
Very good video I just loved seeing the baby chicks & can't believe how they have grown, I want one of those bubble things as that was just cool. Wow how big was that Horseradish it would have been very hot. Cheers Denise -Australia
I think your horseradish may be the cure for that thing going around. Since you're doing Freedom Rangers again, I take it the extra grow out time is worth it for the added flavor/fat?
Horse radish is delicious...love to add it when I make brown gravy, I put it in meat loaf, hamburgers. and of course with roast beef. I have heard that it is good to nip a cold in the bud...at that first little tickle you feel when a cold is coming on, take a big spoonful of horse radish...So says Art with Parsnips and Parsimony. They grow a lot of it every year. Did y'all start that one from a grocery store root? I would love to grow some because it is very difficult to find pure horse radish in the grocery store. Mostly it is mixed with Mayo or some other creamy stuff, which is OK on a sandwich but you need the pure stuff for other things. Love your meat birds and egg layers set ups..they work just fine for you there in NC. Y'all have fun with Penelope and her bubbles and have a Blessed day.
I would think that putting pigs on hillside will result in bare ground which might erode. chickens on the other hand will eat grass in same period of time without leaving bare ground.
What type of grains are you feeding the brothers and the chickens? Seems like they always enjoy eating it. At what age do you plan on merging the egg-laying chicks with the older hens?
Hi..... Jason and Lorraine and Penelope nice to see you all, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🎥👍👍👍

Great Video, The "Three Little Birds" Song brought a smile to my face. In these times its nice to have that little reminder.
I love watching your videos! Such a wonderful day you had! Thanks for taking us along! 😁👍🇺🇸
the play time and the music at the end is fantastic, !!!!! I love it !!!!
It is so refreshing to see the entire family playing and having fun with the giant bubbles. Ya'll have always played with Penelope which not only keeps you young at heart, but also, helped her learn how to stare and play with others. God Bless

Super lovely Vlog. It's lovely to see the chicks go on the grass for the first time.

Chicken lots of chickens.... pigs look really good... love the bubble blowing 😁
Have a good evening 🌻🌻🌻
Great video . . . you don't tell the pigs you have no food for them . . . cause their thinking that arm will do fine lol. Cheers.
Jason you got your hands full with those little buggers
When we made horseradish in the 60's growing up, nobody in the house had stuffed up sinuses . Clears ya right up LoL
Must try some horseradish then l have had sinus trouble for 3 weeks 😊
That sounds so tasty. I love a smear of horseradish (horsey sauce) on my prime rib and roast beef sandwiches. I need an Arbys. Maybe after we get out of quarantine.
Mario Wickel that stuff is awesome for that! Yikes tho!
@@pinkythechihuahua3156 Arbys does drive thru. Go for it LOL
The standard for the meat chicks off a heat lamp and on grass is “3 wks and 30 degrees”. Once you hit that point they’ll be fine out on grass
Jason you made that perfect seed and garden carrier for your sweet wife.👍
You guys are a wonderful family and are truly blessed.
I absolutely your family and what y’all are doing! Bi would love to live that life!!! Your daughter is gorgeous and precious and all of you are awesome. I look daily to see if y’all have a new video! Prayers and blessings to y’all!
*absolutely love I meant to say!
Enjoy seeing the animals. The brothers are looking good
One of the best things we have purchased is an extendable fishing net for catching birds! From chicks to peacocks it comes in mega handy! FYI...
You do use what you have... You are very good to your animals.. I get a kick of you calling the pigs brothers..
Hi guys 👋 just saying thanks for sharing this video update 🤔 say safe and say well 👍👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
what a beautiful horseradish root. I mix my horseradish with a bit of beet juice to give it a nice pink color. Your homestead has come a long way since when you began. It is nice to see the changes. Fun way of ending the video. A family that plays together stays together. Thanks for the content and entertainment!
Penelope is so precious. Love to y’all!
you could use the used bedding from the pigs for the garden after the chickens go through it.
Love me some Marley and Sow The land ❤️
My hubby makes the horseradish. As grinding up adds half an half, bit of sugar and bit of white vinegar. All the animals are looking great! And the horseradish looked amazing..bet it tastes good too💚🌱💚
Bernice said No Way, Get me outta here. Great video you guys are awsome.

I’m a vegetarian, but it must be a great feeling to know you have good, organic food to eat throughout the year. Nicely done👍🏻
Another great video guys!! ❤️. And I know y'all are super busy but if Lorraine could maybe share a video on how she makes the homemade cornbread. Looked so good! And awesome horseradish! Never grown it, never used it...but now again, y'all are inspiring me to give it a try! Thank YOU!! ❤️

Your little homestead is booming 😄
It is so much fun to see your progress. You're showing how to be sustainable. It's a lot of work, but it's good work that has such incredible rewards. Great camera work, Penelope! :)
I cannot wait to get more chickens on our farm! Just started our channel to show our move from WA to TX and starting a farm!
You guys are crushing this chicken/garden thing! Thanks for sharing & the smiles :)
I stopped using straw for hilling up my potatoes and switched to hay. Cheaper and it breaks down faster! I think I get less weeds too. Thank you for sharing.
We’re playing musical chicken brooders here too 🤣 tis the season! Your pigs are going to be up to the top of their metal walls soon!
Such a sweet life!
Loved the video and especially loved the end with y’all eating and then playing together. Really made me feel good. Thank you and keep it up!😊😊
Horseradish is definitely an acquired taste! I love it, but in small quantities (great with prime rib). I could never take a big bite like Jason did.
what a busy day. I love learning about the animals. Bernice was outta there! lol.. seeing how the older animals relate is interesting..I know you all work very hard, but enjoyed the part with the bubbles.
Can’t believe the last group of chicks are three weeks old. They are huge and have enormous feet.
And the week old chicks were really into the grass!
*GOOD COFFEE LAUREN AND FRIEND & FAMILY CONGRATULATIONS VÍDEO GOOD MORNING*

love how your expanding of animals is coming along..looked like a full rewarding day
A beautiful family!!
Keep the good stuff coming thanks
Your garden looks AWESOME guys!!!
Excellent. Thanks Jason and family.
You guys and your video bring a smile to my day!
Such a cute video

Lorraine is such a sweetheart... "I like to have a somewhat.. clean house, and I have ..chickens in the living room".
love your creativity! best of luck to you

Liked and appreciated content.
just Love your Vlogs!
Glad you like them!
I'm talkin about the Brothers.
You may have come late to homesteading Jason but your doing a great job 😊
late? I think I am are right on time!
Woooo love your videos!!
Always great videos. Thanks for sharing
Idaho pasture pigs sounds like the direction I’m going to try, they don’t tear up much ground.
Better start looking for freezer specials!
Awesome video love it ❤ thanks for sharing. Y'all always bring joy watching your lil family. We are just now getting started homesteading. We have layers and some ducks and geese. I want pigs and goats ❤ one day praying anyways. I ❤
Great video, looks like you e got lots of chores!
If you don’t need an area dug up I would just leave them in the pig pen:)
I case you don't know what commercial packers do with there horseradish, they mix it with white turnip to tame the beast.
Glad to see all the chicks are doing well. But your Cornish cross will probably take longer to get up to weight than 8 weeks. Because your birds are not raised with 24 hour lights like in the big farms. Good luck with all your birds
Great vids. Just stumbled on your channel. Love the content. I think you will love more egg layers. Keep up the hard work.
Awesome! Thank you!
Very good video I just loved seeing the baby chicks & can't believe how they have grown, I want one of those bubble things as that was just cool. Wow how big was that Horseradish it would have been very hot. Cheers Denise -Australia
Suggestion o the pigs....How about next to the pig shelther??? Is not grass only and if you can use the premier fence it will be good.
Time to make a chicken brooder
I think your horseradish may be the cure for that thing going around.
Since you're doing Freedom Rangers again, I take it the extra grow out time is worth it for the added flavor/fat?
Horse radish is delicious...love to add it when I make brown gravy, I put it in meat loaf, hamburgers. and of course with roast beef. Have you thought about putting fruit trees and berry bushes on your hill?
I would think that putting pigs on hillside will result in bare ground which might erode. chickens on the other hand will eat grass in same period of time without leaving bare ground.
Have you thought of fermenting the chicken's food
What type of grains are you feeding the brothers and the chickens? Seems like they always enjoy eating it. At what age do you plan on merging the egg-laying chicks with the older hens?
I cannot do horse radish, makes me ill. When I was young it wasn't a problem.
The rest of that horseradish root will grow a whole new plant. Love the weeds! (Horseradish is a weed)
I wanted to if Lorraine has ever made chow chow?
I know what you mean about the chicks in the house. The bigger the get the more dust the make and it gets all over.
What kind of chicks did you get? Freedom rangers? Cornish ?
Good morning beast sow the land jason TH-cam video
