Don't worry, dont stress! Food...water....scraps! They will grow. Remember pigs like water and they don't sweat. If it gets hot spray them down with the garden hose to keep them from getting to hot.
Look into soaking their feed for 24 hours before giving it to them. You'll lose less to spillage, they get more hydration and nutrition, and the feed will go about 25% farther than just giving it to them dry.
@@SowtheLand I think you will do great. I have all the confidence in you guys. Everything will be just great. Watch and see in a few weeks or days you will be like What were we so worried about. lol
Give them something to do some type of toy or enrichment activity... like a treat ball or something to do. A frozen swing maybe? Something to keep them entertained
I think the fact that you care so much about making sure your raising them properly says a lot. You seem to have the animals best interest at heart. I believe your going to do everything possible to take great care of the piggies and Bernice and her gang of minions lol :D
Your gonna do great. If your unsure, you know you have great friends like Justin, who raise pigs all the time and they can help you. Soon you'll love it!!
🐷You got this! 🐷You're going to be surprised at how much scraps they will eat. Also, no need to worry because you have "Uncle Justin" on speed dial to help answer questions, lol. 🐷This is exciting and I can't wait to watch them grow!🐷
You sweet people can do anything. Remember when you moved from Ca.. you guys did a great job. You'll get use to them !! I love you Guys ♥️ GOD BLESS !!
I remember being that excited for our first pigs! Enjoy I think you will love them! It is a bit nerve wrecking at first. You will soon become an amazing pig farmer in no time!!
you doing good I used to raise pigs you did the right thing put food let him rest check in every now and then keep checking them that's it like nice pigs.. God bless your family and friends
I was crazy nervous when we goat goats. You’ve done great, they have great shelter, clean water, and food. You’ve got this. Being nervous means you care and that’s awesome.
New animals are always anxiety makers. Just sit and watch them and enjoy the next level of self sufficiency. You will learn their normal. Stay calm and farm on! You got this. ( And they will be fine when you check on them at midnight).
You CAN do this Sow the Land! We're all so proud of your journey! Thanks for sharing it with us. The fact that you care is enough for those piggies to have the best life. Now I'm waiting for piggie tricks!
Hi........ Jason (Sow the land) and Lorraine and Penelope nice to see you all, Wow I am so excited to see the pig 🐷,thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐥🐖🌱🎥👍👍👍
You can do this💜 Pigs were my favorite when I grew up on the farm. They are as smart as dogs can learn to sit and have manners. I was just a little girl we had quite a few and every day I went to have a tea party with them. I would pick them blackberries, line them on the fence and they had to all sit before they could eat them. I miss that life, enjoy!
Now you guys did great unloading those pigs. You will be good pig keepers. Pigs are sweet. I love pigs and chickens and cows. I do not like goats because I am so allergic to goat hair. You are going to have some great great chops, bacon, lard and ribs! Pigs, yea
Jason, those pigs are living in the Taj Ma Pig right now! You've done an excellent job for them! They will love it and thrive in their new home! No worries! Shabbat Shalom Sow the Land Family!
Sounds like you are off to a good start. If you feed grain you may also want to research feeding fermented or sprouted grain to make the food go further. Good luck!
4 years in the making! How exciting 🥰 how healthy they look. In a day or two they well feel a home. No more trailers or trucks or moving around. How happy they will be to have their very own “people”. To feed and water them every day!!! Wow what a life, who wouldn’t be happy and content. Jason, what would you have to worry about??? Your very own pigs....to pet and talk to and water and feed...rinse and repeat. And remember one of your besties is Justin Rhodes. Seen you there working on his pig car port🚙 call him and tell him the good news, share a little, you will feel great or at least a little better. You got this Jason, piece of cake 🍰 love you Jason and your wonderful girls❣️ God will bless you, he already has❣️ Relax and enjoy❣️
I would imagine they were car sick and that's why they didn't move too much when you first brought him home. You've got this! You have prepared and you are ready. Blessings to you all
all of God's creation is awesome, and to be appreciated. I am facinated by them and join in your excitement. You will be excellent caretakers as you step up another level..God bless you all.
I have raised two rounds of feeder pigs (3 each time) and we are now getting breeder stock to start raising our own here on the property. If this city girl can do it, you got it made!
You got this Jason, just be patient, you were new to everything you have done since you were a baby 👶 and look how far you have come. Lorraine had a good idea for taking the pigs out of the truck. I could almost hear them saying wheeee as they were sliding down 😂😂😂🥰your channel
From all that you have conquered in your time... i think you will be able to grow these bacon seeds just fine. They look to be well sprouted 😁 #pigsforeveryone i hope to conquer raising pigs one day too. Looking forward to continuing to watch yaws adventure 💗
Pigs needs are very basic. Make sure they always have access to water, and feed them regularly. When it’s hot, make sure they have shade and good air flow. Pigs are awesome!! Sooooooo smart!! I used to have one that I would go lay in her pen with her and take naps. They make great pillows when they get a little bigger! 😉. As someone else commented, they’re very similar to dogs in their intelligence level. They’re a LOT of fun to hang out with!
Jason, you are going to be okay. You have worked with Justin and helped him. There is no doubt that you know what you need to do to take care of the pigs. I am so happy for you. Enjoy the adventure.
Those are some chill pigs. They'll keep each other company and keep each other warm when needed. It will be fine. Everyone needs to adjust to each other. That's all. You did the right thing Jason getting pigs. You're looking at food security in a very threatening time right now. So, well done! And what a palace you built them. I bet they can't believe their luck! Haha.
Just watch those videos by Justin and you can relax. Your going to do great! They'll get use to their new home and love it just keep their bedding dry ( that's what Justin always says) have fun & enjoy!😍
You are doing great. I would secure your water barrel so they dont dig under it and tip it over. Also give them some charcoal as it is great for their health,
You will do fine, as they begin to associate you and feed they will become your best buddies. You might want to move the feed tub closer to the fence so that you can feed over the fence. As they get bigger they get pushier, just push back HARD, they will learn to respect you. mine romp and play like little goats and they are almost 300#. They are almost ready for freezer camp. He wasn't kidding they like ear rubs and to be petted. Just because they are for food doesn't mean that you can't make their stay enjoyable for both of you. Oh yea pigs LOVE weeds and greens and will eat just about everything you throw in there. Good luck and God bless.
Don't worry, dont stress! Food...water....scraps! They will grow. Remember pigs like water and they don't sweat. If it gets hot spray them down with the garden hose to keep them from getting to hot.
belly rubs, too ! They will melt to their sides for a good scritch. LOL. Pigs love scritches all over but bellies are the best !
\
" EAR SCRATCHES". He said don't forget the ear scratches. They are as nervous about you as you are of them. 😄😄
Look into soaking their feed for 24 hours before giving it to them. You'll lose less to spillage, they get more hydration and nutrition, and the feed will go about 25% farther than just giving it to them dry.
