I've been to the Texas many times, as I live relatively close. Super cool experience for those interested in naval history. For those who don't know, she is actually still technically in the Navy as the only ship in the Texan Navy. She had torpedo tubes like submarines had that were sealed up in her refit in-between WW1 and WW2. She also did some absolute mad-lad stuff during D-Day when the captain purposely flooded one side of the torpedo protection to create a list so the ship's guns could arc higher and shoot farther and caught a German counterattack by surprise as a result.
Flooding part of the torp protection for better range sounds like a special captain skill in real life. "when flooding +10% range -90% speed". Texas in ww2 "skill activated".
USS Texas, USS Wisconsin, USS NJ are certified irl seal clubbers for what they did to land targets. USS Texas flooding her self for better firing arcs. USS Wisconsin letting loose a full Salvo against a enemy artillery crew that hit her. USS NJ Deleted the target, and surrounding area.
Used to volunteer on the USS Texas in High School, loved that ship. Helped fix some of the AA Guns on the deck that tourists could swing around. Currently she's in a berth getting much needed repairs, so lets hope she survives this round. Thanks Yuro for covering it on WOWS lmao.
Interestingly, I came to same conclusion in my time with New-York and US drednoughts in general - you need to stick close to the middle of the map or else you will always be late to everything.
As someone who has invested a STUPID amount of battles into the USS New York, I can say the NY-class in general holds a very underlying versatility that is overshadowed by the bad speed. While the side plates are still somewhat weak, they are still side plates for the casemate. You can still bounce shots against wallet warrior Tier VII players stuck in the Erie realm. But yeah generally expect to lose a bit of HP to HE.
Commodore Dewey took her from her Posting in China as the US Asiatic Squadron Flagship to Manila Bay in the Philippines 🇵🇭. She still exists and is in worse condition then Texas.

Still not sure why they added the dogshit California for tier 7 when they had post-Pearl Harbor W. Virginia that’d basically be a Colorado _right fuckin’ there_. Virginia (194x, x > 1) could be very similar to Colorado but, you know, premium. Actually, Texas is a _super_ dreadnought; so-called because of her turret arrangement into centerline, superfiring pairs. Your regular dreadnoughts made use of main battery guns in the form of wing turrets. Think: Kawachi, Nassau, and HMS Dreadnought herself.
Actually, Actually, the Texas was a super dreadnought because it was bigger and newer than the second generation dreadnoughts.... the fact that it's turrets where superfiring was mostly irrelevant to the name... several first and second generation dreadnoughts had superfiring turrets, and several first generation super dreadnoughts still had wing turrets
Wrong. USS south carolina and USS wyoming and their sister ships were center line main battery warships that were regular dreadnought. With south carolina having 4x turrets in superfiring arangement. Maybe actually make sure your information is correct before saying stuff because otherwise you look like an idiot.
I miss the old Texas before the CV/AA rework. AA sector selection was a delete button for the squadron when spec'ed correctly and with an AA-spec captain. That ship had an Iron Dome around it before Israel did.
What’s stupid is I’m fairly certain 40mm bofors were also big enough for proximity fuses, so USN and RN at least should have flak clouds to help represent the FAR more effective AA fire even if someone else had identical AA
Well I haven't played the game in two years or so but I remember back in the days, probably before CVs were reworked from RTS playstyle, I actually had a lot fun with this ship. CVs were the worst thing back then but the Texas with its broken AA could just screw every CV it faced and it was so godly. You could sail across the map and then planes showed up and either the CV knew, went "heck no screw this" and ran or didn't knew and got half of his planes wrecked with you hardly taking any damage. Either way that was always such an amazing change from how you'd get screwed by CVs in pretty much any other ship at that time. So again, I enjoyed my Texas back then and salute the ship. o7
AA was broken on the Texas? It has more machine gun emplacements then Normandy so of course it chewed planes back in the day. It was the best escort for BBs. Now AA is totally broken.

On the other hand, I had NC and later Iowa for at least 6 months and never really learned how to use the insane improvement in speed, range, and concealment from the Colorado to fully utilize those improvements. It’s been over two years now, and I think it’s telling my main memory of New Mexico is being fat but pretty well armed and armored and overall pretty fun, while NC and Iowa were me constantly getting kited when at range, getting my shit kicked in if planes spotted me and negated my low surface and air detection, preventing ambushes, and many ambushes that I _did_ pull off, if I got sweaty palms or unlucky and didn’t dev strike them, I’d be in a “man fight” close range brawl that I was in the wrong ship for (that is to say, for USN, _not_ Massachusetts or Georgia). And that’s when I didn’t forget I had a decent top speed and got myself into a close(-ish) range fight I didn’t want to be in. While I agree she should have been saved, the question is why?. She had no battle honours as she didn't see service in the second world war, she had little purpose other than becoming the Queen's personal yacht at the cost of the Royal Navy and would of been obscene to maintain. What should have been saved, and criminal that she wasn't, was HMS Warspite. But again she would of been obscene to maintain as she was so utterly worn out after 2 wars and a lot of action.
@@razgriz380 warspite was already heavily damaged due to a fritz X. Hopefully you learned your lesson and abandoned the line at that point, because Slow Mexico and slowLOLrado are more of the same.
@@brooksrownd2275 oddly enough, new mexico was one of my best boats and enjoyed it. The line was abandoned at 7 because it somehow got slower.
That continental drift joke got me good
That Vanguard joke...that hurt

She should've been saved!
We all make mistakes
Remmeber we scrapped USS enterprise
While I agree she should have been saved, the question is why?. She had no battle honours as she didn't see service in the second world war, she had little purpose other than becoming the Queen's personal yacht at the cost of the Royal Navy and would of been obscene to maintain. What should have been saved, and criminal that she wasn't, was HMS Warspite. But again she would of been obscene to maintain as she was so utterly worn out after 2 wars and a lot of action.
@@razgriz380 warspite was already heavily damaged due to a fritz X. Most veteran's I've spoken to from the navy say Vanguard should have been saved and be treated like HMS Victory and be the fleets "flagship" there were no other battleships in the Royal navy which could have been saved without substantial modernisation or repairs. Vanguard had just come out of a modernisation 4 years before.
If you do not love burjer bun, you will never be able to burjer. I mean Love.
before cv rework this ship was so good vs cv its crazy ... could shret t7 cv's
Dems was the good Ol days… and kept it historical bc the real Texas got a ton of AA after Pearl Harbor.
But loved when a cv tried to hit my Texas in game. Looked like a light show all the AA guns poppin and flyboys droppin 😂😂😂
3:34 i laughed so hard on this part..
lol Great work Yuro. I remember the old days when Texas' AA was feared.
This comes just in time, Wargaming bestowed upon me a free Texas.
Unfortunately I'm on Legends.
Didn't know that the 'Ikuyo' was so strong in Texas.
That part at the start of the vid where he sets up the "Continental Drift" joke at 7:19. O7
I wish they never added CV rework, before the rework we were able to increase AA range and made it amazing, a fat AA barge that made carriers uninstall...now it's stuck to 3.5km AA range...wtf..
Glad to see WoWs add Banzai planes into the game at 6:08
>T5 cruisers just exist to explode
[laughs in Königsberg]
Surely Yuro must do the Agincourt next!
Having fun is a felony offense in any war game.
"Thanks to the incredibly based nation who would like to remind everyone that they won the war." SCOREBOARD, BITCHES!!
Thank you!
Don't mock Vanguard darn it 😂😂
I am obligated to like this video. My Texan blood moves me forward!
All of them unlucky dispersion misses already would make me uninstall again...
Thank you Yuro for doing this video as a life long Texan thank you so much one of the few ships in game that still exists. Also thank you for all the hard work that you put in to these videos they are very funny and I enjoy them. When is the next red yeet video pls.
