The book has arrived. A Tour of Bones by Denise Inge. I was immediately struck by the paragraph: "They insist on nothing, demand or require nothing of me except the admission, which I make seldom and reluctantly, that one day I shall join them in bare beauty, stripped even of flesh and sinews, disjointed, naked and alone.) Wow! I've settled in with a thermos flask of my favourite fresh ginger tea, ready to read this awesome book. Have a nice weekend, everyone.

Death is such a taboo subject on many levels. When I was a kid about ten or twelve years old I had a lot of questions about death. I was told to go outside and play and not bother about such things, lol. Strangely enough that experience became a catalysis for embarking on a spiritual quest/search.
Love the video, and the book.

Brilliant effort, mate! This really is one of your best (if not THE best) so far. It clearly is the one that had the most tought and structure put into it! Can't wait to see where you'll take us next!

Most profound and what we all are beyond our thoughts, dreams, fears etc. I will come back to this video time again and absorb this fundamental truth, a great spiritual truth. I would want to spend time alone in such a place in stillness, silence. It certainly puts our life in perspective. Fantastic video I'm going to save. Thank you, Wessex Nomad. ❤

How cool, i'll be honest, i never knew about ossuaries, this is just so fascinating, possibly from the battle of Hastings or vikings... holy moly thats cool! Interesting to see the different wound marks to the variety of them. Love how much detail you've shared. Enjoyed this very much. I really liked Rothwell, super eerie, but love the history surrounding it. Wow! Fantastic :)

@@_the_wessex_nomad_ There's a treasure trove of cool explorations here. Not sure if I can think of anyone else who explores these sites and also has good commentary on the experiences.

I hope you will be able to do more video's in the future of Ossuaries /death. Stay true to yourself and your passion and may your followers buy a coffee to help support. Always best wishes.

About halfway into this documentary, very enjoyable and interesting so far.
I do wish parts of it weren't edited to be "spooky" with the dramatic music and all. I do get that to some people these images will be a bit unsettling, but as you say yourself, it is quite a beautiful and peaceful thing to connect with the dead like this.
I hope you'll make more documentaries in the future, subscribed so I won't miss it. :)

I think the option to be placed into an ossuary should be choice today.

Definitely! Although in some parts in the world (like Hallstatt, Austria) it still is!

I speculate that the real story behind the Paris’s catacombs is that they are possibly Ossuaries.

The French catacombs is one giant ossuary! The biggest in the world in fact. I had the pleasure of going back in 2015, a very special place indeed.

@@_the_wessex_nomad_ Thank you for confirming my suspicion. As soon as I saw the Ossuaries in your video, I thought of Paris catacombs. The topic of afterlife is very fascinating. I love learning about different burial traditions of various cultures. Of course I’m mostly interested in my own ethnic background, which is Slavic/Russian on my mother’s side, and Armenian on my father’s side. I know that both sides of my heritage they are really big on ancestry. Even after Christianity took over these cultures. For example Russians till this day go to visit the graves of their ancestors on certain holidays. The Russians they bring food with them and even a little liquor in some cases. They make plates for themselves and one plate and a drink for the dead person. They sit down by the grave and eat and drink, and the talk to the dead relative. The family shares the news about the newly born children in the family with the deceased relative, and any other news that have happened in the family bad and good… Armenians are also very big on ancestor veneration. I learned from some sources that pre-Christian afterlife beliefs of Armenians and Slavic people are involving reincarnation, but reincarnation within the same family line, ancestral reincarnation.
