    What material is those stakes made from? Since they dont last long i was wondering if that's an issue with the material or if it would be possible to make the dimples as inserts so you can either get more life out of them or at the very least make it easier and cheaper to swap out inserts for the dimples instead of replacing or remachineing? Great videos BTW.

    There's no way in hell those bolts can ever back out. I think that is the best staking job I have ever seen. Excellent video , thanks.

    So you torque between 55-58in/lbs but your BCG physicals only require a 30in/lb test to check if the key screws back out, correct?

    • @SchooloftheAmericanRifle
      @SchooloftheAmericanRifle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      30IN# does not look for properly installed screws. It looks for grossly undertorqued or broken screws.

    Just started watching your videos. Very informative and interesting. Do you have plans on doing a physical on any BCM BCG's or uppers? Just curious. Thanks!

      Brian Cabalic thanks! I also got the screws through M-Guns, we’ll see how long it takes. It’s a much better deal to get the screws from the website than Forward Controls Designs.

    I been watching a lots of your videos. I see one about the fail zero bcg. After watching it I feel I NEED to change mine out. I have had no problems with it but on mine I feel there is a small spot on the bc that is constantly dirty and I can never get it fully clean. I want to test it like you but don't have a jig to redo the staking with a new key. Do you have any suggestions on a cheap but good jig. I am pretty sure I am buying your staking screws those made it easy looking and beautiful finish.

      @Red pilled patriot So, when your gas key opening goes out of spec, you have to replace the entire bolt carrier? That's pretty lame if you ask me :P

    I hope you read this, even though the video is a month old.
    You should NOT repeatedly click-torque any fasteners. It causes a slight uptick in the torque at the fastener. By clicking multiple times you end up a few lbs higher than spec. Those gas key screws are probably 60-62in/lbs now.
