    Tighten the little knurled cover on the choke cable. That squashes a little o-ring round the choke knob spindle and stiffens it up!😮

    What have I been doing? Well I'll tell you.
    I'm finishing up the repair of a 1980s' Italian 'Saeco' espresso machine. It had leaks everywhere and a gunged up pump; but new O-rings all round and a descale has transformed it. I like that it's got no circuit-boardary going on, just mechanical switches and 1/4" spade connectors.
    They're definitely worth keeping an eye out for!

      you have been busy Mr Crispy, I was given a La Cimbali M30 2 head commercial expresso machine, descaled it and fitted new elements and seals ( disconnected one set of elements as the amp loading was too much for a 13amp domestic supply ) and made coffee with it once or twice ( it took ages to warm up and god knows the power cost, took up half the kitchen side but it did make a nice cup of coffee ).....I shall have a look at Saeco machines

    Mr Tweed, thank for your the fleet review, good to see all ship shape and Bristol fashion! As you have so many projects on the go perhaps its time to give one of them to young Jenkins to work on, certainly its the best way for him to learn. Perhaps the French fancy? as you suggest she's is more than ready for a strip down and a good going over with an oily rag!

    Great to catch up with your projects Mr T, but no matter how many, the lure of something fresh and (potentially) shiny is always irresistible. 250RS was a great bike, loved by journo's and more competitive than it had any right to be, looked spot on too, a good choice. Top work on the bantam crankcases, not sure many would go to that trouble, great to see, and why we watch.. The wheel painting also looks a treat.

      Thank you Stringbag and as we know the formula for how many motorcycles should you own is 'X + 1' with X equal to the amount of motorcycles already owned 😉

    Hey you got a comfy chair in the garage! Fabbo! And that rug really ties the room together.
    I always wanted a GB500. Beautiful bikes - yet again Mr Honda predicted a market (retro styling) but got in it ahead of the need. Shame - but Honda are never afraid to just try stuff.

    • @TweedsGarage
      @TweedsGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it only ties the room in after I washed it......twice!!!!!!, bought at auction ( my daughter and I love an auction ) , you couldn't smell it in the auction room but when I got it home it smelt like a small horse had been living on it.......

    Hey - those aluminium crankcase welds are good repairs. That high silicon content alloy is great for detailed casting but very difficult to weld - I think you did a great job on that. 👍👍

    Wow! So many projects, so little time; I thought I was bad. Lots of great fixes there... nice job on that wheel and top marks on that crank case repair. Can I come and watch when you do the drive shafts on the Riley?! Good to see that you found another use for Tiger Seal though. Oh, and I nearly forgot... PINK UNICORN! Might I suggest that you put her in charge of keeping the Bantam crank safe....

    • @TweedsGarage
      @TweedsGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't even think the Unicorn could save that crank, its got a death wish ( probably exit stage left through the crankcase the first time i get it running ) and yes you're more than welcome to work out how to get the half shafts out in a single garage ?!!

    Those rod brakes look tricky, mine has strings of course. If it works the same then the springs in the shoes should take care of them not rubbing on the drums. The external springs on the cable system seem to be there to keep the cable tight and hence keep the pedal feeling solid. The only real adjustment is setting the balance between the rear wheels so they come on at the same time as you mentioned on yours. Front to rear is all meant to be self compensating. The compensator in the middle does have the 'in car' adjuster and I think that one is the one that affects the pedal travel? There is a lot of stuff written about Riley brakes and a lot of tosh around 'improvements' but if the original system is set up properly it should work fine I think (hope!).

    • @TweedsGarage
      @TweedsGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes I've read many.......many articles on the Riley cable brake system, but never any on the rod system, it is similar but you have to roll underneath it to adjust the free play, just trying to get some of the free play out of it, I think the weight of the rods and arms are a bit much for the shoe return springs to cope with on their own...........I'll tinker away and get it sorted........or just install an anchor.
