      Corrupt laws Inforcement , city bureaus completely in violation of citizens privacy, institutional prison industrial complex historically speaking. Most of the employers in government and military now unfortunately seem to be void of all common sense. The rates of all industries and markets have inflated past the standard of any middle class families from establishing any sort of basic lifestyle . Just a few 😢

    Alright starting off the video the reason houses are more expensive is because Norfolk, Portsmouth, and new port news are VERY HIGH in crime rate

    Don’t forget about yellow fly season in deep creek! Would have been nice to know when I bought my home 8 years ago!

      I love Chesapeake and the Hampton Roads area. Bugs are everywhere 😆 they are bad in parts of Florida too. Doesn't mean I will stop taking vacations there 😆

    I’ve heard a top reason is because the TH-cam algorithm would prefer Virginia Beach

    I do love living out in the rural part of chesapeake ( I love at Northwest Annex) but, you are right it is a commute to get to any sort of shopping, work or school. It is 40 miles one way to get to work, 25 mintues to the school and 15 minutes to the closest store. With gas prices being what they are, I would have had second thoughts before I moved out this far. On the bright side the schools in Chesapeake are all ranked well.

    I live in Chesapeake and enjoy it. You live in the swamp and you will have mosquitoes, deal with it. Hire someone to grade your land properly and you won't have those problems (in excess). I live in an older neighborhood with all brick homes (3K - 5K sq ft) with all the modern amenities. Since Covid, I have my groceries delivered, don't worry about traffic/congestion and appreciate the best schools in Tidewater (simply put money = stable families = best schools). Though, I have seen our homes stupidly and artificially appreciate to over $800K for no reason except idiots are buying them at that price. Aside from that, Chesapeake is a grand place to live, raise a family and thrive...

      More to love about Chesapeake than hate on...... but that title and thumbnail dosnt seem to get clicked on. My ratio of clients going from norfolk to Chesapeake vs the other way around is pretty lopsided in favor of Chesapeake.....

    I like the part where you say you got stuck at a bridge in Chesapeake then proceed to show footage of the Berkeley bridge in Norfolk, lol The bridges can be a pain though.

      Sometimes we don’t always have the time to go out and get all the drone shots or b-roll we want. This is just two man team making local content for free.

      @@LivingInCoastalVirginia You're good man. If I'm gonna get stuck at a bridge it's usually the Berkley, but number 2 is Great Bridge for sure.

    I live in backwoods Louisiana, and just got a job offer for Norfolk naval station. Is living in Chesapeake a bad commute? Most of the things on this list don't bother me one bit, and I was hoping to live somewhere with a bit of space to breath.

      No it's not. We lived in deep creek part of Chesapeake by the swamp when my husband was first stationed at Norfolk for 5 yrs. He's still there but now we live in VB by the oceanfront, hilltop area and the commutes are the same.

    Can you build a aframe in Chesapeake va?

    • @LivingInCoastalVirginia
      @LivingInCoastalVirginia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      most definitely, just need it to be a lot not in a HOA or POA with rules against it and have a builder familiar with that style

      @@LivingInCoastalVirginia Yeah I currently live in chesapeake but I want it to build a Aframe for a living space make it more of a home then a cabin and thanks

    • @chrisa9159
      @chrisa9159 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@legacylewis8841 You won't find a builder in Tidewater that will "build to suit". They all have pre-planned junk and the quality level with every builder is simply "production" level. That means, strand board, plastic fresh water pipes, cheap siding (forget an all brick home), $0.15 duplex receptacles from box stores, 2 pass wall board mud, MDF for trim materials, cheap windows, hollow doors, etc. No HOA means - farmland, which means well water, septic systems, no natural gas (only propane in small tanks at 4 times the price), no reliable internet or TV packages, etc.

      Riverwalk is lovely, have several clients that live in that area. I tease my friends that live in Chesapeake but the reality is that it has good schools, quiet, friendly, and low crime.

    This place is so boring but without the charm of a small town or any real good hiking spots for outdoor enthusiasts. I'm sure it's not the worst place to live but it's very overpriced and will just get worse with these builders coming into the rural areas and working class neighborhoods. It's hard to find affordable housing and I completely gave up on the school system here and now homeschool.

      People between $15.00-$20.00 an hour, 18-50 years old, with single income are having a very hard time renting. The rents are all either:
      A) Over $1,100 a month and have waiting lists
      B) Affordable but only if you make below 27-29K a year. Having a roommate will put you over the limit.
      C) You're a senior.
