1 year later but I think it’s still valid, in Japan it is very reserved and the people aren’t using to seeing other people who aren’t Japan. There are a lot of different customs there regarding manners and they can be described as ‘fake’ in a simple term. They don’t say what they think because most of them have grown up with the mindset with keeping the peace and not disturbing anyone. People usually keep to themselves. I not saying this as a bad thing but I think it’s important to say

South Koreans lived as a single people for thousands of years. So, there are still many people who make foreigners awkward when they go to the provinces. South Koreans are not as friendly as Japanese. Even the same Koreans aren't friendly to each other.. If you visit South Korea and people look cold, don't get it wrong. It's just a cultural difference. But if you have a problem, anyone from South Korea will help you.

Daegu is the type of city where it's not dauntingly large but still big enough that you're not gonna be bored of it. It's incredibly easy to navigate and the transport is very cheap. It has 2 subway lines and one monorail line which you can transfer between for free. To use the subways it costs 1400 won (around US$1) which you can use to navigate almost all of the major areas of Daegu.
I'm going through the process with Korvia. I really want to be placed in Seoul because I have a friend there, I can handle hurricanes, tornados, mosquitos, intense humidity, unforeseen rainstorms (I'm from Florida haha) but I don't think I can prepare for the cold! Does it snow there?

And also I heard the reason things in Japan are more expensive is because people make more money then u would in Korea but I could be wrong this is just things I’ve heard.
Japanese average salaries are higher than Korean average salaries which also explains why the living cost in Japan is higher. As for the comparison to the US, I can't say Japan is cheaper. It depends on what we are comparing and where.

@@OutcastYBJ Yes, that's why I said it depends on where you are in the US and Japan - the US is huge and living expenses/taxe rates, etc vary from state to state. Same applies to Japan - just going from Tokyo to Saitama for example makes a huge difference. If we are comparing NYC to Tokyo specifically, then NYC is more expensive. This is coming from a Tokyoite who also lived in the US. I hope you enjoy your stay in Japan! :)

thatratoon getting around is pretty easy but I’d definitely go over ordering food & asking for directions. That’s in Tokyo tho. If you go 30 min out of Tokyo you’ll need to know how to read.

For more detailed info on Korean/Japanese public transportation. Korean public transportation including taxis are either run by the government or subsidized by the government and tax payers so everyone can afford to get around. Japan on the other hand public transportation like subways, trains, buses and taxis are owned by different private companies making the prices more expensive.
I honestly don't understand why most people complain about Korean winter... I was born and raised in south Texas, lived in Korea for 18 months and it wasn't that cold. I don't recall it ever getting below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was quite tolerable to me. 🤷
I have never been to South Korea before, but I watch Korean TH-camrs buying so much stuff that would be so expensive in Japan. It must be something to do with purchasing power parity or something. I have a plan to visit South Korea in march but Coronavirus is getting on my way. I want to shop for cheaper yet more stylish clothes there. I can eat flavorful, spicy dishes, too.

I stayed in Nagoya and Tokyo. I also went at a time where the dollar was weaker than the yen and often times you would lose money, but now Japan's yen is much weaker wand so I bet it's a lot cheaper whereas America has gone up in prices!
Never compare Korean with Japanese. Korean is different from Japanese, in terms of face, body, character. Japanese have nothing to do with Korean. You can compare Chinese and Japanese for they are close in terms of face, body, cultures.

Tokyo isnt super expensive if you know where to get your food from. There are many expensive places, but there are many cheap food.

For more detailed info on Korean/Japanese public transportation. Korean public transportation including taxis are either run by the government or subsidized by the government and tax payers so everyone can afford to get around. Japan on the other hand public transportation like subways, trains, buses and taxis are owned by different private companies making the prices more expensive.

I honestly don't understand why most people complain about Korean winter... I was born and raised in south Texas, lived in Korea for 18 months and it wasn't that cold. I don't recall it ever getting below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was quite tolerable to me. 🤷

I have a plan to visit South Korea in march but Coronavirus is getting on my way. I want to shop for cheaper yet more stylish clothes there. I can eat flavorful, spicy dishes, too.

I stayed in Nagoya and Tokyo. I also went at a time where the dollar was weaker than the yen and often times you would lose money, but now Japan's yen is much weaker wand so I bet it's a lot cheaper whereas America has gone up in prices!

I love both countries and I can’t decide whether to learn Japanese or Korean haha. Both countries are pretty interesting and beautiful but I think that I slightly prefer Korea when it comes to like the people and food but japan on the other hand, offers you a lot of stunning nature and cultural sights etc.

I totally agree! I am the same way! I love Japanese nature. Korea has so nice things too, especially mountains but Japan has a lot of parks and gardens!
