Everytime we hear you talk about this game is indication of how much you slept on this. This has long been the BETTER game. Many of the features from 2011 have been updated. Fans just wanted new graphics.

The thing that EA has been unable to replicate since PS2 Madden is the smoothness and responsiveness of the player movement.
“Next Gen” Madden (PS3/Xbox360 - current) feels too much like trying to steer a boat in outer space. Players feel like they don’t carry any weight even with vibration on lol no sense of impact or force.

They haven't been using the same engine, they switched over the Frostbite engine several years ago.
They use it for Fifa/fc and fps games and I think that's why Madden feels so unresponsive. Is College 25 going to change this?

Yeah but at this point it's getting pretty close... All this has to do is get better ball carrier moves because that's what 2k has that was so better. The cutting looked more realistic and in a football game the more realistic the movement the less wonky it looks and the better the game feels. This has better character locomotion than any Madden or NCAA game has ever had. If the cutting was more like NCAA from the PS2 era then this might be better than 2k if you add in all the other modern details that we're seeing in this .. the jukes are good in this but it's just missing something. You should be able to make sharp cuts and double moves while sprinting and it just doesn't have it

I’m all for some of these in college, especially if it happens based on ratings. Some players are so much worse than elite, they may never react until wayyyy too late.
The only issues I have with the gameplay is the commentary has no energy still. It is miles better than madden, but you can score a game winning td and the commentators are just way too chill. Also, the celebrations are lacking, its always just the player that scores celebrating by themselves, and the rest of the team is just in the background standing still. You want to see your sideline going crazy, and your teammates on the field running to celebrate in the endzone, not 50 different dances for just one player to do, that is not realistic at all.

best commentary ever is still in a damn near 20 year old baseball game. the technology is there - it's a motivation/time issue
imo it’s as good as it’s gonna get, commentators for espn aren’t voice actors. it’s hard to read a script and have as much emotion as if you were really watching for example Oklahoma state win the last bedlam, or auburn winning the ironbowl. the issue in most commentary teams is the lack of variety in voice lines, from what I’ve seen there is a good amount of voice lines from each commentator.
If you want realism touch grass.
As far as being repetitive, It is a football game, a lot of real life football “considered to be repetitive” not much you can change from game to game. If you go to multiple home games, it’s the same intro for each team, nothing wrong with that

People are always going to want to play with their professional team and players. And as you see “the sheep” will always buy Madden. If EA FINALLY improves Madden it will just be icing on the cake
“Some of this stuff seems like it’ll be repetitive…” oh for sure. First, because it’s a video game. Second, when I watched every home game from Texas Tech my freshman year, EVERYTHING was repetitive… so repetitive makes sense whether you’re at the stadium or watching it broadcast (for what is shown).

When ur game generates more revenue every yr despite minimal innovation and improvement, and there is no competitor in the space, there is no incentive to improve the product. It would only serve to reduce profitability.

Because the NFL put more restrictions on Madden apparently that's why you don't see things like helmets pop off or concussions
There are many restrictions imposed by the NFL. However, do note that CFB has been multiple years in the making by a different team, without the pressure of a yearly release. These things do matter quite a bit for the dev cycle. But do expect some CFB gameplay improvements to come to madden eventually.
2:40 Ryan, that is nitpicking on another level. There are thousands of animations in these games. You can't put hundreds of thousands of animations in a game. Of course there are gonna be parts where two players make the same animation when their assignments move them in the same direction. The important thing is that the defenders are moving toward the receivers instead of standing in empty space. While you nitpick that, I celebrate it as the players are actually playing defense.

For a guy who constantly rails on EA about animation based gameplay(He is correct about that in Madden), he sure jumped all over NCAA for two players shifting in the same animation to cover two receivers.
there may be thousands of animations (I'm dubious of that number), but the animations that affect the majority of plays on the field are significantly less (probably in the dozens), which is why you see things like this and which ultimately result in stale, predictable gameplay after a month
I said the same thing. sometimes its in the coding to.. sometimes 2 players will do the same reaction and movement, i bet it happens in real life to, maybe not to a T, but its a video game, it happens, and he said the LB wasnt moving and thats how the WR had that big spacing.. ummm the LB was moving the entire time.. maybe not in the right direction at first lol..

The fact that he is okay with this game, as so it seems, makes it worth getting, as he is one of the biggest critics of EA. No ill will meant by saying that.
EA Sports doesn’t develop MAdden or CFB. It’s the publisher. EA Tiburon develops Madden and CFB is developed by another team
When you consider the team working on this game is certainly smaller than Madden, I would bet that 80%+ of development is spent on atmosphere, art assets, franchise mode, and music. I would not expect any advancement whatsoever in the core gameplay. If anything, it might be even buggier.
I mean, NCAA/College Football has always been buggy as hell.

It looks miles better and I’m an EA hater cause of what they do with their games. However, the college fb team put a lot into the game. It’s going to be miles better and the gameplay looks better and it’s not just because of the trailers or showcases but there’s already TH-camrs showing off the dynasty modes and the gameplay which is really solid. I hope people don’t use the UT mode as much but people have gambling addictions 😂

@@GM-hm7buI wouldn’t say that. Battlefield games gameplay certainly changes from iteration to iteration despite being on the same engine. The core is still the same but things still feel different often times. I think it needs to change but to say nothing can improve or change based on the engine is illogical.
Lower level players will play bad there’s a different this year high level guys will play great
I think we are overthinking it too much. If anybody loved and enjoyed playing NCAA 14 from a gameplay standpoint I just don’t see how it would be possible not to enjoy CFB 25…there will be glitches and all that but it’s a game it won’t be perfect

With the advent of AI as far as artwork is concerned you'd think they could use that to make crowds with different people in the stands every game. Yeah don't use the AI that makes Nightmare Sauce and six fingers everywhere, but the good stuff could be implemented.

Now pertaining to this game: I think if they continue to move into the direction that they are heading, little by little, they’ll be shedding some of the bad Madden that we’ve come to “love.” I might get this when it’s on sale but we’ll see. Still waiting to see what 2K is gonna do with their football game.
I played MUT one year. After building a great team for that one year I lost interest in ever doing it again. Dynasty and Franchise modes are the best...

We just always crank reaction and coverage up to 100 in our private league. But on-line the default screws ya and relies waaay too much on user. I say time and time again, it’s unrealistic to see the entire field immediately post snap by offense which is a tremendous unrealistic advantage. Create a primary pre snap, that way there is a slight delay on throwing to your 2, 3 read play depending. Not a throw cone, but a natural pre snap progression read. That’s where disguise coverage comes in. Then tie your safety play to an attribute called eyes or as part of awareness, same w QB. How quickly he can throw from one read to his second to his 3rd and how closely the defenders follow his “eyes”. Something to play with as it’s part of real game. Safety play is always a problem because there is no nuance in play with this.

this is the thing.. does EA even have ppl on staff that understand these concepts? if not, then not even a "patch" will fix these issues as they do not have the apparatus in place to even address these things
@@GM-hm7bu they actually have this feature in the playcall screen while selecting plays, it’s apart of the coaching adjustments at least for previous maddens so i would assume this feature is in college football 25
There’s nobody in the flat brother….Nobody covers grass in real life or you would be cut from the team….You would bracket until a threat (WR/RB/TE or QB taking off towards that flat) shows up in the flats….

In a lot of ways, this feels like we're sorta kinda back to where we were 2 decades ago. Only this time, the dropoff in quality between NCAA and Madden is at its widest and I don't see the gap closing anytime soon.
I'm waiting to see how this game shakes out with the patches, how it cleans up after release and then decide if it's worth buying a PS5 to get this game. EA really surprised me on this out the box and if they don't slouch off on this and seriously improve it with each year, this game can carry them through the next decade.

The best way to keep NCAA and Madden popular with out really one dropping off too much for the other is do what was done in the past and be able to export Draft classes to the NFL. I head heard some where that it is difficult for them to do this because of NIL and contracts with NFLPA and other stuff that was not much of an obstacle back then. I have not watched too much about NCAA 25 yet so who knows maybe it is in there? But if not There needs to be a way to find a way to put it for NCAA 26 at least. Although I would not be surprised to see a PC mod to allow such a thing.

i understand your point that this may undercut madden, but considering this has been in development for several year it is essentially madden 1.5. like you said it may be marginally better, and that is disappointing.
Maybe it's me, maybe it's the learning curve, but I just played this yesterday and am generally a pretty good Madden player, despite hating the game. That being said, anyone finding the Pass Coverage is super slow, laggy, "dumb?" I used Michigan, who has Will Johnson, the BEST OVERALL PLAYER IN THE GAME at 96 overall, and he consistently got cooked by some Low 80's ranked WR on the other team. Man, Zone, didn't matter. In Zone him, and the rest of the defense stood flat footed and was slow to react, and in Press Man, receivers were coming off the line freely with zero "Jam."
Maybe they'll patch it, but that is my biggest issue so far with the game.......also keeping in mind i've only played 2 games so far, but the pass coverage is somehow worse than Madden so far......IMO
Anyone notice that in Madden, when you put a guy in motion, the D back actually moves before your guy and then beats him to the spot like he has a crystal ball.....
The only reason I would even consider buying madden this year is because you can import your college player into it.

F it, you could start in pop warner or middle school 😂😂😂😂 they could completely change the sports gaming world if they wanted to. The alabama vs Auburn game i saw looked great but had flaws. The ohio st vs penn state game i saw was damn near perfect. So i must admit it was good so far
You can't judge gameplay until you play the game. It may look good but I bet it plays like an interactive film.

2:47 have you considered that this is a zone play? When the play is in motion. Even maybe if it’s on Cover 1 spy. So there is a mismatch. But also consider the AI LB awareness.
Also if you want to talk about cut scenes and the intro that’s going to be the same thing that you will only see for 15-20 seconds. Like come on dude you play the game. Your gonna have 132 collegiate intro’s not identical. Collegiate intros are traditional in different ways and you pick the away team intro like it’s do or die. Also you talked about TD celebrations being cuts scenes with no player on the field behind the celebration look at NTE Gameplay after a touchdown when he plays in the Iron Bowl. Where you can see the other players behind the TD celebration.
My question is when we're being critical of the AI performance are we taking into consideration that players skills is it possible that when taking into consideration the actual abilities program into that AI player that they might make some of the mistakes pointed out?

How great would it be if this game is the downfall of the Madden franchise. You know if CFB25 receives overwhelming positive reviews, Madden may see a drop in how many copies are sold and have to step up and if they don't maybe, just maybe they will lose the exclusive license. Of course we all know that is unfortunately very unlikely since both the NFL and EA love money. The MUT lickspittles will ensure that Madden continues to rake in the coin.
the problem isn't EA having the license, the problem is the license is EXCLUSIVE

ALL products/people suffer with lack of competition/motivation
the next company to receive the exclusive license would end up the same way
at this point the NFL is just too big and powerful - they look at these video games as NFL ads, so they make sure to control whomever they give the license to
outside of a law banning exclusive licenses in video games, simulation NFL video games are probably dead forever
I honestly don't give a single shit about madden now.
As someone who has the game on pre-order, who knows how this will be once the game releases, since the game became Downloadable (about last week) it has already been patched/updated like 3 times, and it's not even playable yet.
Yea Scott Gallagher legit talked about how they saw things from TH-camrs that gave them ideas of stuff to add. Like they said they’d add in a patch where u can apply equipment to RTG players who have minor wear and tear that would reduce the actual wear and tear but still leave a slight minor debuff to stats
The only thing I'm having an issue with is the extremely limited player editing. I'm totally fine with not being able to edit names and physical appearances for both real and AI players but not being able to edit player ratings? What if I wanted to take the crummiest school but make just the QB a 99 OVR demigod to see if he can win games as a one-man army? Or make an incoming recruit a 99 OVR just to see the bidding war that would cause
