My coffee cup came in but it was late in the afternoon. Well, I don't drink coffee in the late afternoon. I got done with modifying buckets with drain holes for my bucket planter, the wife came home from work and she take over watching my grandson. This led in me christening the coffee cup with a few ice cubes and some Maker's Mark. It looks like this cup can do double duty. Wonderful design!!!
Been watching every carl murawski release for about a few years now, as a younger guy figuring out how to navigate tough times I always appreciate the wisdom you impart at the end
You’re awesome Carl. Great video, I’m glad I got to spend some of my day with you, remember this when things get a little rough, when you’re real low it’s a good time to look up.
I agree 100% with the adversity bringing out confidence. Similarly it’s why kids thrive with sports and other activities. You don’t want them to suffer but you definitely want them to learn their limits and responsibility. Hope you have you have a better week going forward Carl!
Too funny…. I received that Dehen cargo jacket email . My first reaction was “ I love it”. Then I tried to imagine if it would look good on me. And of course, I tried to justify the price of $1000.00 CAD! Didn’t love it that much. Hope your week improves!
Thank you Carl. I can get Orvis labeled gear at Costco...Filson is about 2 years away from that. Kuhl does a nice dry waxy canvas like product for half the money. I have the Kollusion jacket in 2 color ways. For a true oil-skin stuff I favor Kakadu Traders off ebay where good examples run about $50. Both Kakadu and Kuhl I size up 1. Kuhl sleeves run nice and long for those who need it. Hang in there this week and rest when you can ...life keeps coming at you.
I have moved away from Filson jackets. I used to wear them exclusively. What I miss about them is the sizing/cuts of their stuff. They always fit so well with room for layering. With my Carhartt and Dickies jackets there are always one or two elements that are not right. For example, the body will fit well but the arms are too short or long. This is probably a problem with me. Haha. But in terms of fit and function, the short waxed cruiser is perfect. So why don't I own one now? I was searching for even more perfection and sold off my last 2. Such a jacket does not exist. Maybe it is time to buy another before they are more than $500! Love this channel, Carl. Keep up the good work.
I live here in Portland and have gone down to Dehen several times. My high school letterman jacket was made by them. I’ve heard it pronounced “Dee-en” most often.
I carry a modestly sized traditional belt knife quite frequently, and I currently have a vintage Western cutlery model 628 on my hip. As with all knives I prefer a modestly sized relatively thin knife that cuts and slices very well.
In regard to Dehen, I had the same concern. Until I was hanging out with folks from division road (they’re originally from the PNW like Dehen) and they confirmed that it’s pronounced Dee-en as in Dee and ‘en like (en)ter. I also wanted to make double sure and found a post on Dehen’s facebook confirming this. Hope that helps! Much appreciation for what you do. 🤘 from the Appalachian mountains, northern Virginia.
I am looking forward to your Filson Mackinaw Cruiser comparison. I own two Filson wool coats: 2024 Mackinaw Cruiser; 1999 Double Mackinaw Cruiser. Both, supposedly have 24oz wool. The older coat's wool seems heavier (thicker weave?)(yes, I'm factoring in the double arms and cape), and is scratchy. The newer coat is lightweight and very comfortable (aka less scratchy). Anyway, what changed? And, what are the pros/cons of vintage wool vs. current?
I’ve bought several Filson products made in USA on the secondhand new/used market, and been happy with all of them. But when I look at the prices on their site for new AND they are not made in USA, I just can’t do it. Try to buy the older stuff, and you likely won’t be disappointed. And they are often cheaper.
Since Magnacut is a new steel I would make sure to buy from a company that has a well established RnD team. On paper it should be an end game all rounder, (which is reflected in the price), so I would be interested in hearing how well it holds up a few years down the line.
I compared a 90s Mackinaw vest with the new one and the material is a good bit thinner. I wonder where the imported dry tin cloth comes from? They have always got the waxed tin cloth from British Millerain (in the UK obviously) and I wonder if it's from them too?
Dang you go big or go home when you try things out lol For a fixed blade especially city edc type go a little smaller. I like my Ka-bar tdi seriated, they vome none seriated as well. That knife carries easy and will cut through a tow rope, splice wire and all. As well i carry a biltong just under 8" over all. A little bigger but works great for food prep and all that type of work. An unpopular knife i carry is my S&W M&P Shield. Its small enough its easy carry and if i lose it im not heart broken. Aa well there is always the sog mini and crkt minimalist. Small but mighty. LoL As always enjoyed the video Cheers, beers and whiskey 🤠 🥃 Ps. I agree have to let our kids fail, be there to help pick them up. But failing and trying again, is one of the best lessons of life
Honestly, I'm concerned that Filson has been appropriated by the "Pumpkin Spice Crowd". It happened to Carhartt, and their quality has definitely suffered because of it. I am definitely seeing the parallels between the two.
Wow, really? I had no idea it was that old. I sort of remember the "skater cut" which was some type of variation with longer hair. Either way, I think it looks ridiculous.

Appreciate the words of wisdom.
The lack of coffee here is becoming concerning.

I love the character you get with Kudu leather
Enjoyed the show Carl!
Thanks for hanging out with me dude!
Great episode Carl, keep up the great work.
Take care of yourself Carl and get some rest.
Thanks for mentioning our ‘paint roller’ jacket!
You bet! It looks amazing
Thanks Carl
Wise words well spoken 👏 👍
Thanks for all your hard work it is noticed here!
Good video
I have an old Filson Mackinaw vest and two newer ones. I can tell the old one by the thickness and heft of the vest.
Having one of those weeks too! We'll just hang on til it's over.
Weather the storm my friend!

Thats an interesting take, and I wonder how much had to do with their hiring of various fashion designers over the years.
"Hey, that guy is wearing an orange jacket"

You should do a review of vests. The heat straps craftsman vest v filson oil tin cloth vest
I love vests, thats a great idea!

Oh, nice, i just posted a comment saying the same before reading your comment. Confirmed.
Sweet!! 🤘🤘

Cozy setting… forgot the 🕯️ candles
When can we expect pre-orders for the next workhorse?
We are trying to secure the new waxed material and hopefully it will be up for pre-order in the beginning of April.

i'm older than you and i've had undercut hairstyles back when i was a teenager.

Possibly, or maybe Halley Stevenson?

1620 🔥
Controlled adversity is a really effective way to prepare for those rough weeks -it’s good for adults and kids, lol.
I have a Benzak lined denim jacket and i can vouche for the high quality and fit :) You should check out the brand more!
Field notes released their spring design today and it kinda sucks I’m so sad
Honestly, I'm concerned that Filson has been appropriated by the "Pumpkin Spice Crowd". It happened to Carhartt, and their quality has definitely suffered because of it. I am definitely seeing the parallels between the two.
You have kids, so the worst week has for sure not come yet 🤣
That style of haircut was around back in the 1920's and 1990's minus the man bun.
Wow, really? I had no idea it was that old. I sort of remember the "skater cut" which was some type of variation with longer hair. Either way, I think it looks ridiculous.
I haven't met a hipster is exactly what a hipster would say haha. Just kidding dude. Love the videos!
Hahahaha
Look at Hitler and Himler. They wore that same crappy haircut...
Oh my god you're right!
