LNER 61306 'Mayflower' on 'English Riveria Express' Tour - Dawlish - 10/08/24

On Saturday 10th August, LNER B1 Thompson 61306 'Mayflower' can be seen running along the beautiful coastline of Dawlish as it leads on the steam leg of the 'English Riviera Express' that was heading from High Wycombe to Kingswear.
At the same time as 'Mayflower' was steaming into Dawlish, a passing GWR Hitachi Bullet Train, 802113, was heading the other way on a passenger service from Penzance to London Paddington, thereby creating the 'Old and New' image on the British railway network.
This shot was done in one complete take, and it was our only chance that we could film the charter too since we had limited time to spend in Dawlish.
Initially, the plan was to film the steam engine pass the camera, then cut the film, turn around and film it disappearing into the distance individually, but I chose to take my chances and film the entire train from start to finish, and follow the train in one continuous shot.
Overall, we're very happy with how this shot came out, and in my opinion, it was well worth the risk to capture it in one go.
