A 31 was the first model loco I had. It came with the Hornby Freightmaster train set. I've still got it and recently returned it to running order. Great little railway. One can visit, then pop into the nearby Blaenavon iron works World Heritage Site, and then buy some excellent beer from the Rhymney Brewery.

Won’t have anything said against the class 31. Once reengineered with the 1470hp English Electric power unit in the late 1960’s a great loco especially on freight. Great video.

Driven this loco at Blaenafon 8 yesrs ago. Just out of repair following brake failure and subsequent collision with the class 37 on the sidings a few years earlier. Happy memories of Blaenafon, my home town.

Some great shots, enjoyed the one of 5541 crossing at Lydney Town, just a shame it was a van in front! Good capture of the 33 leaving Lydney Jcn too, so rare to see a passenger train go that way!

I'm curious about the fourth coach (labeled D in a window): it's an air-con Mk.2 (i.e a 2D, 2E or 2F) First Open, but it also has a small buffet section, complete with a red stripe above the windows. What's up with this? No Mk.2s were built with catering, so when and by whom was this coach converted?
