- Dixieland - An American Trilogy.... On Tour 1972. Recorded: 1972/02/16, first released on single.
Words & Music by Micky Newbury . Lyrics: Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old things they are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I take my stand to live and die in Dixie
Cause Dixieland, that's where I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
So hush little baby
Don't you cry
You know your daddy's bound to die
But all my trials, Lord will soon be over
Recorded: 1972/02/16, first released on single
WHO IS PROUD TO BE BORN AND RAISED IN DIXIE????!!! Proud Virginian here
New Orleans, LA the Deep South. Southern Cajun and proud of it.
Всё ещё будет, когда Johnny примарширует домой. И пусть дом будет. TSWRA.
Georgia here
South Georgia, tobacco farm!Never had a slave but family fought for the Stars and Bars.
Now support the Yankee
Elvis was a true Southern boy.
He was, and I love that he sang this song that unites the country through a song of the South version of history, then "All my trials" a song that came from a Negro spiritual that encapsulates the evils of slavery, and then "Battle hymn of the Republic" which presents the civil war as the salvation of the Union. Elvis forever! ⚡️
Played this at my fathers funeral. Was not easy in a UK Catholic church.
love dixie
What would a Catholic Brit even have against Confederate Southern America to begin with? Shouldn't he have more, shall we say, halal problems to worry about?
It has nothing to do with anything against a Southern American state. Catholic service are very old fashioned. It's unseemly to have popular music playing at such a sombre occasion.
Good for you and that couldn't be easy for you this is my favourite Elvis song buy far and I was born when this great man died the same day.
That seems like a very odd song a for a funeral unless he was a southerner.
I don't care what anyone says. Elvis was the best performer ever, and he gave it all on stage!
Lmao as opposed to Michael Jackson
@@NotAcvp3lla😂😂😂 No
@@NotAcvp3lla Michael Jackson was a pedo.
This is the south's National Anthem. Like it or not.
This song is for all America, and the world. God’s glory is for all. And that’s how Elvis would want it.
RIP to the beautiful states of Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee... y’all are not forgotten. Forever live Stone Mountain.
There will never EVER be another ELVIS and Dixie Land proves it The song makes me cry.
He has been gone now for 45 years?? I remember where I was the day he died. The singers of this age come and go. Elvis will be for always. How lucky was I to know his music and his presence. Thank you Elvis xx

See what you think.
Elvis uniting the country. We could use him today.
his voice never left him even in his darkest days
Even as his body fell apart his voice never left him
Absolutely outstanding… there has never been, and will never be.. ANYONE who even comes close to how great Elvis was and is
th-cam.com/video/wBsFY_e0H9I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KH6B60H1wwJweGzd. Who knows…. God does….
I agree
Even to the end, the one thing that didn’t fail him was his incredible voice…
❤
Who could listen to that without getting goosebumps
I was stationed at Hickam AFB in Hawaii in 1972 and got to see Elvis in his Aloha from Hawaii concert. Best concert I've ever seen before or since. Elvis had tremendous talent.
You are sooo lucky!
how fortunate for you
Aloha nui loa.
You trumped every bucket list there is right there, mate. Fantastic.
I was 13 but watched it on tv. Was a sad day. The cause of his death was not the first or the last caused by DC and the medical systems greed, just like every overdose since.
I have yet to hear a voice like this that can give me goose bumps and bring me to tears. What a sad day when we lost him, thank God his songs will live on.
Crying now there is no body like him worlds a lonely plave without that smile good heart and truefull kindness ...missed forever 💔
I know right I get goosebumps listening every time I am from Alabama so this song is so special
I love this song, Elvis could sing it like no other. I don't know any singer that would sing it today. I am from the south and proud of it.
+Maggie Mae I agree with you Maggie. Elvis could sing it like no other... he the best!!!!!
Agreed! Check out American Trilogy Bob Joyce on TH-cam. Worth it!

Amen sis. Giving me cover song ideas🙏
Elvis was right. In 1977, his trials on this earth was over. RIP. Far as I'm concerned, he was the best male singer in his field ever.
As a black/Mexican/Cuban American 29 year old I agree!!!!
I'm shoveling dirt into a seawall that needs filling and jamming Elvis on march 16th 2024....
I grew up in Boston & NYC we were raised with no respect for Elvis until I saw his movie and did my own research
Great singer 😊🎉
You wished
이 노래를 들을때마다 눈물이 난다. 점점 나이를 먹어서일까? 엘비스의 목소리는 진짜 감동이다.하늘나라에서 하나님의 가호가 있기를
me too
God Bless Elvis!
Forever grateful to be a son of the South. Dixieland, Our home. May We All Live Well.
Dixieland will live on forever do not forget remember Dixieland
This for me is Elvis's best performance and his best song. Pure magic. Too good for this miserable World. There really are no words to describe how awesome he was at singing. He was an Angel sent to Earth to bring joy and happiness and boy did he do that with his God given incredible voice. He had it all, a great voice, great looks, great personality.
To me is "If I Can Dream"
I was raised in Elvis. I agree my friend
Wonderful comments
Liked the ladies a little bit on the young side to have been to good for this world.

This song makes me feel a true American and I love ❤️ USA ❤️
Love the way Elvis watches Ronnie Tutt toward the end. Elvis loved Ronnie. I doubt there was ever an entertainer who appreciated their supporting cast more than Elvis.
American trilogy has and always will be one of my favorites brings ol country boy tears🇺🇸ELVISLIVES⚡
Look at how the crowd react, absolute adoration for Elvis. Pop stars nowadays have no charisma
They have nothing nowadays
Name any other so called "celebrity". None can ever match Elvis. He had an impact that reached further than music.
Meh, most celebrities do groom young fans so.
*cough* *cough* Dream *cough*
I love his 70's performances the best.
Because you see he struggles a bit, but ALWAYS give 100%
Nailed it!!!!! That's why he's the "KING" The world will never forget him! RIP:EP ⚡
My our dear lord has made the Unitet Staates of holy America for a better Future. Elvis Presley still loved Jesus Christ. God bless america. God bless Tennessee Graceland forever and ever.
That ‘72 tour was not ever to be topped. Ever.

One of the best We ever had/R.I.P. Elvis.
An Elvis Presley fan since I was a child. It was musicians, like him and the Carpenters that shaped much of my now, eclectic musical interests and my continued interest in music and learning a variety of instruments.
I will say again this man has a voice of angel
Best elvis song
Just love this song!! Ever since I heard this song about 20 years ago this song has been one of my absolute favourites.... no words... wow...

Just fascinated by the time, the era, and the Greatness. Today seems so artificial when looking back. Just isn't the same. I thank God that Elvis lived.

The King sings Dixie !
lovely song
What a King!
Love this song sung by my friend Elvis.
So glad that I was able to grow up in a Generation where there was such a fabulous entertainer as Elvis Presley. I grew up in the mountains of Kentucky and lived on a gravel road named Dixie. No one will ever come close to being able to sing this song like Elvis. This is one of my favorite songs. I was blessed to live in the generation that made him the iconic singer that he deserved to become.
Hallalujah... He is praising the Lord above threw out this song... He had a great power he was connected to the most hight 🙏
My favorite performer of All Time. Love how he sings this song .RIP

Died on my 1st birthday.
It is an amazing song, performed in such a wonderful way that it brings tears to people's eyes. Btillant appearance and video. Thanks✌️👑👼❤️🌹
BEST. SONG EVER🌷
Incredible performer. How lucky was he to inherit the best from both parents. It's a dice shoot. Many can say it was a curse , but in reality he had a great life! If he had been a regular person, he would have been equally if not more unhappy. The human condition. He was blessed, period.
God bless us with Elvis Presley he gets me threw ty Jesus
Dit wordt ik nooit beu, een kei gevoelig nummer
Amazing reminded me of Stone Mountain
Beautiful .. pure beauty
The King ....so greateful
Sings from the heart 🙂
One of the best performances by any artiste ever.
Elvis always said couldn't wait to get back to Dixieland.
