You either die a post hardcore band, or you live long enough to see yourself become an incredible pop band.
They did what SWS couldnt
I think the song is... decent. But let's not act like they've struck gold here. I don't think Emarosa has considerably more fans since their days with Craig, Sowers etc. It's a mesh between P!ATD and Maroon 5. Again, that's not bad.. I enjoy both those bands. But if you're going to claim that your post-hardcore days are over, why not just change the name? Rebrand. There first album or two with Bradley was a big shift from old Emarosa.. but this really isn't even the same sound.
This analysis is wrong on so many levels, but mostly because they were already no longer a post hardcore band. The shift away from that began on Versus and I would argue it was completed on 131. This is less of an evolution away from post hardcore and more of step sideways, possibly even backwards.
Nathan Mahlmeister have they really been a post hardcore band since Corsets and Cages though?
omg yes
Replacing heavy breakdowns with a sax breakdown is something I can totally get behind after this song
Who on Earth gave the bassist permission to go that hard?
I know right!
I LOVE when bands show off the bassist like this. Bass guitar is underrated
@@TheLordOfTheLegos same, especially because I'm a bassist myself haha
dude right? anyone know what he's playing?
@@BuffaloSabres4L a Fender Jaguar. One of my dream basses, but in cherry red :)
The Bassist was givin up everything to us on this song
This is one of those few occasions where a band goes from their post-hardcore roots to something much more pop-rock oriented and it actually sounds pretty good. Really looking forward to this album!
RIGHT?!?!
Normally Im super skeptical when bands go pop, look at Fall Out Boy or Thirty Seconds To Mars for example. However, this one of the few times I believe the band knows what the fuck they are doing.
Last 2 albums, especially Vs. had some jams but I really just don't find myself coming to this, kinda like new Hands Like Houses. The Plot In You did a much better job transitioning over IMO.
Yeah nah
Agreed!
Jason LovesABR I actually liked the new HLH album, I just feel it could’ve been better and is shadowed by their other albums, even Dissonants.
I can't begin to imagine the kind of additional damage this song would've done to me if Tilian was featured...
Chinedum Josiah hahahah 100% agreed
Man what a monster of a track that would be with those two.
I would definitely be deceased.
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT
Just thinking about it give me chills!
The kids who are complaining that "Emarosa doesn't sound like they used to!" clearly weren't OG scene kids who used to also listen to original BMTH. You have no idea the pain we've suffered. At least this shit still slaps.
Asi es!
Dance Gavin Dance stil save the genre. Some guitarist doesn’t ike to play math-rock riff anymore I guess.
Sorry, but as a guy who discovered Emarosa through streaming 'Relativity' on YT (I can't claim OG status, boohoo.) I can't help but be befuddled by this trend that's been happening lately.
New BMTH still better than this new Emarosa trash.
@@framar601 lmfao
2020 gang. Why is no one talkin' about that saxophone solo....guy is a legend
y'all don't know how obsessed I'm with this song. I've been listening to the song for 5 hours straight 😂
I mean... this song is genius! It‘s groovy, well written, there are horns , a saxophone solo! The voice is sick, just incredible!
Being a fan of heavy music, I have to say I like this sound better (since Bradley has been singing). He’s said numerous times that the old Emarosa sound is dead. He’s a singer inspired by Michael Jackson and Prince, this is really catchy and it’ll also broaden their fan base. It’s a win win if you ask me 🤷🏻♂️ love the sax solo!
It fits his voice so much better. Their post-hardcore sound was already drifting into alt-rock anyway, so might as well turn their sound into a sick groovy funk pop album. I'm loving it.
if the old Emarosa is dead change the name then.
Back when Jonny was in the band. I got a fox on my arm for the Band. I still love this band with Bradley.. But i mias the old sound. The sound that made me absolutely love the band. For the people who are confused about the fox. The older version of the band.. their albums had foxes on them. And before jonny Emarosa was hella heavy. I have loves yhis band from the beginning. But i eill miss the jonny craig days. But Bradley is absolutely amazing
The sax solo is fire
I'm a fan of heavier music but I have a soft spot for this as well. Ever listen to Bradley's old band Squid the Whale? I liked Gentleman a lot.
I wanna know who the genius is that thought it was a good idea to put in a saxophone solo.
Because it was the best idea that they had ever come up with.
Don't hate and enjoy this catchy, groovy song..Love the sax solo! Used to love old Emarosa but change is part of growing and in this case they're adapting and improving, at the end the "real Emarosa" is whatever they say it is.
Everyone talking bout the music change but can we talk about his comfort with the camera? Improved A Lot!
*listens to Don Broco once*
so accurate.
my first thought
Maroon Broco
Damn. This comment is on point. 👌
Thank u for making my night
Regardless of how you feel about pop music, you have to admit: Emarosa can't write a bad song
You must not have heard the first e.p
@@Slappaccino Some of their best work.
@@Slappaccino ??? first e.p is pretty good
??????? wot@@Slappaccino
I'm not confident they wrote this lol
My whole 2018. This song is top 10 on my list and will never leave.
Be unapologetically YOU!!! Love it!!
emarosa and bmth may have changed but everything they try sounds awesome
I strongly agree! both are my favorite bands
Agreed. Change isn't a bad thing
AGREEEE.....,
Asking Alexandria, not so much...
this song grooves so hard. and them dance move and saxophone solo. everything about this is a HUGE yes from me.
I just listen to this album recently and this is one of the best albums I've heard in years freaking amazing I love all the 90s 80s throwback in it it's the rifts the energy everything it's great
That was beautiful, what a gem. I love seeing our post-hardcore, scene bands, whatever you want to call them... continue to grow under any musical direction in which they desire to choose. I’m thankful to hold onto Emarosa and every band that we have left that’s still going, life is short 💯.
Your earlier work is some of the most influential in my life, and I'll always be a fan of the post-hardcore days. However, your new direction is absolutely wonderful, and I think it breathes new life into your music. Thank you, and please keep it up!
One thing they NAILED for a pop song is airiness. I'm so tired of "tight" sounding pop songs; tight hi hats, no cymbals, sometimes no hi hats at all. The looseness of the hi hats and the cymbals in the chorus give it a good air. People forget this when writing pop songs. The drums are always so boring, and keep the song in a fucking vacuum. Good on Emarosa for nailing this.
Named my daughter after this band... STILL NOT DISAPPOINTED.
You won't be hehe
You are a true man of culture 🤟 hope y'all are living your best life
should've named her downtown battle mountain 2
@@abrahamesparzavela5209 that’s her brother lol
Same here, year 2022!
Stop talking bout that funky bass line, lets talk bout DAT SAX! it gives me goosebumps! 😍
This is fire. Absolute fire.
If a song is Lauren Babic approved it's a fucking amazing song
Yesssss! Can we get a cover of this song from you one day??
😂
Holy Moly..! I was just now, about to queue up some of your music. I’m a big fan! The amount of range your voice has is astonishing. Keep up the fantastic work and rock on, girl! 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Everyone's so happy in this video, love it
I feel like he really took that "he sounds like Michael Jackson" joke to heart
Been a fan since 07, and I gotta say, this is quite a change from a band that has already gone through some massive shifts. Relativity will always be one of my favorite albums ever, but the work shown here is interesting and well put together. Not my usual bag, but I'm looking forward to what else they put out. Nice hook, stellar vocals of course and those basslines and horns are a great standout. Hope this sound works out for the boys
I don't know why I see people giving this song shit for being 'pop'. There's nothing wrong with Pop music. The problem arises when the Pop music in question fails to provide quality musicality or lyricism. The musical aspect of this song is quite good, and actually suggests musical talent, and the lyricism isn't vapid and replaceable. An overall solid tune, in my opinion.
Yeah, you're alright. Don't give a shit about this assholes.
Love Peach Club since these guys got this new singer with versus and 131 I have absolutely fallen in love with Emarosa and Peach Club is so good!
Exactly
Emarosa is one of those bands that can actually pull off “going pop” without sounding lazy. Also, it’s okay for people not to like the new sound. Some people really don’t like pop sounding music, and that’s perfectly fine.
The energy in this clip is 100% / 100%
at first i was like “what happened to them” then i heard him sing
Max Krizan lmfaoooooooooo same
Then you continued to say wtf? Because this is some solo artist to stuff.
Reminds me of Tilian a lot, which is kinda good considering he leaded two of the best albums this year.
@@bassgc90 And that is an issue how? Bradley has a very good voice and clearly has the talent to pull stuff like this off. Proven by Emarosa`s last two albums and everything he helped make in Squid The Whale.
Waffles For Days because this isn't his solo project lol He does have a good voice. But this is a band. It isn't a solo project. That's the same reason I didn't really like the new I the mighty album. Brent has a great voice but the other dudes are also talent but they just got shoved back in the mix or are just playing pretty simple predictable parts.
Me and my band foxhaunt supported this band last night at Leeds key club and they were unreal this song was best and overall they were super nice guys that’s all you want
I never really listened to this band when Craig was the vocalist, so after hearing this and loving it, I'm not sure why everyone's complaining about a genre change lol
I've never seen a band switch styles so drastically and receive such positive feedback. And I've rarely seen a band transition this drastically and still sound good. Props.
Bradley has the voice of an angel, I’m going to miss the old sound they had, but I am loving this
Saw them a couple days ago in LA
Maaan o maaan ,the way they make me feel is incredible. They played an amazing show,he sounds exactly how he does in studio recording.
There was always a secret love between Post Hardcore and Dance.

How is this band not bigger? Their last record was nearly perfect.

Unofficially Dan I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this 😂
Damn you right
YES. I thought this immediately. That man is shaking things up and I can’t wait for him to make it big.
That's who i thought of after the maroon 5 comparison. Crazy. If they collab on the new album that'll be fire.
I haven't listened to Emarosa's new stuff before. I was just relistening to the EP... I wasn't expecting this.
They turned into a pop band and I LOVE IT
I can’t help but bop my head along with this song everytime I hear it
Meet the lead singer once at a concert a few years ago: one of the most down to earth people I have ever met.
This album slaps and I've been living under a rock gahhd I'm in love with this band

But GODDAMMIT this song BOPS

Its a fking bop im obssesed
Love it.... but from a grown man its fun.... theyre having fun. I loved hardcore but i can appreciate some pop music. This is in its own vein unique and fun
That sax and Bradleys voice is just amazing 😍😍😍
I have missed these bastards. That sax is something else! :')
Meh, does nothing for me.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 I get why people do not like it. I do, though. This sounds very poppy, though in a good way. They are still playing their instruments, Bradley still sounds great, it is catchy as hell without being dumbed down and cheesy, IMO. Though, I am biased because I have rocked with Bradley since Squid the Whale.
@@captcorleone2606 I guess if you're an early Maroon 5 fan, then sure they're still playing their instruments. Doesn't quite hit me in any way and sticks out to me.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 Early Maroon 5 was alright. I remember the first time I listened to them. I was in the fifth grade, and my sexy ass teacher had the CD playing. "This Love" slapped, straight up. The whole Songs About Jane record was pretty good, really.
@@captcorleone2606 Oh, I know. Even some stuff from the second album wasn't bad. Or at least Wake Up Call wasn't. Then they completely fell off for me. To me, modern Emarosa almost seems like that early era of Maroon 5. Some good songs, and some meh ones like this.
This givin me the don't tell dave vibes
"I'm new here" 🙋🏻♀️
Liking this emarosa band, this isn't my first song I heard from them, but I was shocked at this style. Hahaha but it's nice!! 😻
Oof! Try to find some old songs. You wont even recognize them!!
@@breakdownfest7572 I searched up their old songs, the main singer changed right? But they are still good even now! I like Pretend. Relive. Regret. I have 36 songs in my playlist. Did I miss any songs? Hahaha
I love Emarosa and the entire catalog. However I legit think this is my new favorite song... not just from them but period. Thank you so much guys!
This has me nervous, hoping it really lives up to topping 131 like they've said, even though that record is a masterpiece.
Jon Moss best album ever
131 was my favourite from this band, even though I’m such a big modern post-hardcore fan. It must’ve been some kind of aesthetic perfection or something, I just felt it was their strongest all around thus far.
Saw three songs live the other day in Albuquerque. This album is going to be everything
Oh believe me. This definitely has beat anything on 131 and I fucking love that album.
I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say "hardcore".. because they haven't been hardcore since their album "This Is Your Way Out." @Jon Moss
Everything this band has ever done is brilliant, and this just takes it to a whole ‘nother level! 😍
Embrace the future, and its so bright
I love this album. It's so much good feels
Change is inevitable. This is juicy jam. Like it or not. Juicy AF.

I usually hate when bands get more poppy, but emarosa still maintains that intensity and energy. They are showing that it can be done correctly!
I feel like this is a song Maroon 5 would steal lol! Good sound Emarosa!

[Verse 1]
I feel like losing at the end of the day
When I look it’s so sad
Yeah I’m pissed and loose but I cannot play the games
And it makes me so mad
[Pre-Chorus]
I’m losing what I’m doing
And I don’t think I like living this way
I’m new here but I’m through here
And the part of me that loved it went away
[Chorus]
Tell me it’s enough
I’m thinking that it’s enough
But I don’t know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I’m thinking of giving up
But I bet I’ve got one left for you
[Verse 2]
No fear collecting little vixens you played
When I look it’s so sad, oh
But I’m sick of doing this enough is not enough
It’s never you who’s giving in, oh
[Pre-Chorus]
I’m losing what I’m doing
And I don’t think I like living this way
I’m new here but I’m through here
And the part of me that loved it went away
[Chorus]
Tell me it’s enough
I’m thinking that it’s enough
But I don’t know what else I can do
And I could give it up
I’m thinking of giving up

But I bet I’ve got one left for you
Or at least like Chorus 2x, and stuff
How has this not reached a million views yet?
Great example of how to use modern techniques to write something that's similar, but new. I appreciate that they're exploring other creative endeavors, but I hope they don't loose the image I've come to love. Still doesn't change the fact this was a fun song.
I always thought he sounded like the weeknd which makes sense being inspired by michael jackson
This record brought me back to life. Damn these songs are fire.
Did a band just go pop/pop rock.... And I enjoyed it?!
Jokes aside, this may not slap as hard as Chris Brown but this is a jam and I am amped for the album. I mean it's poppy, but not to the point where it can be confused as some other act like the chainsmokers. You can tell it's Emarosa. It's not the post hardcore that we had from the first three albums(I still need to listen to 131) but dammit, it's still good and I'm happy for them.

Been an emarosa fan since Jonny joined way back when and I love this new sound they have. glad to see life breathed back into the band!!
Carly Rae’s influence on Bradley is a god damn blessing. If Emarosa pumps out a pop record, I’d jump back on the ship, honestly.
I hear emotional so much. I like it
Emarosa came a long way since their first album . Many singers came & brought their own style to the table & found success .. Like Dance Gavin Dance they found their missing piece & now destroying the game with their Vocals....
