- I discover another Medieval Church on my travels passing through the British County of Suffolk, England. In this short series of searching for English Churches, I am looking for Pianos in Churches in and around rural England. To my pleasant surprise, I am finding 12th/13th/14th Century Churches that actually have pianos in them. Here I find a Church Organ. Time to pull out all the stops. Help Support My Channel Here.

@@kuor1979 things are getting colder.i am in dearborn.iam first generation here.my father came Dumbarton outside of glasgow.all my people are there and in coventry england.we been 3 times to Britain love it tje land and old pubs castles etc
@@iancameron1662 my Dad came from Michigan to Calif when my Grandfather helped open Norton Air Force Base. He lived in Grand Rapids, Detroit , and Dearborn. I still have second cousins in Michigan

Hi, love your posts. My Dad, who died in 2017 at 94 was a self taught pianist and he would have loved watching you on you tube. During the war he was in tanks and whilst going through France he and the crew went into a cathedral and found an organ. While he was playing some good old London numbers and enjoying the sacremantal wine they looked down into the cathedral to see a Funeral being conducted, at which point the mourners asked my Dad to play for them. It is a memory I will always cherish and your playing brings back those memories. Thanks

Oh Terry, that was simply stunningly beautiful, I must say. I know you're about the boogie, but I believe some of us really enjoy a simple quiet tune now an again. Bravo to the camera person who showed us the up n down view slowly so while you played, we got to take in the sight, the lovely simple crystal clear windows, beaming warmth, a feeling of openess, uplifting the spirit with music, warmth & light. I am so enjoying this series Terry. It's so nice to hear the old Christian songs from my past. It's all part of an era in Britain that is sadly dying but hopefully will make a comeback as secularism is not working.
nice. my mom played for church and i would get on the organ bench after church ended. she would correct me that playing organ keys required a different touch than piano -- all i wanted was LOUD. Fast forward to being married into a family where my father-in-law was a virtuoso at the pipe organ and...my uncle took up fixing pipe organs as an avocation after retiring. to hear my father-in-law play a five keyboard organ in a cathedral, well, it was powerful. good to hear you play. thx

That sounded amazing! That looks like a Knights Templar church to me.
It's amazing the sense of power you get from playing those old pipe organs..
When I was a troubled youngin I got in trouble with the law and made to do community service at my town's Roman Catholic Church, which happened to have a Joseph Casavant pipe organ in it.. Joseph Casavant was a very famous organ builder who built exceptional organs.. So on my first day there, the very cool caretaker was giving me a tour of the church (very beautiful architecture all throughout) and when I seen the massive pipe organ I was completely drawn into it.. I asked the caretaker if I could play it and he said sure. I was probably only 12 or 13 at the time and judt learning to play the guitar but always had a good ear for music and I just started playing without really knowing what I was doing.. All I know was I was making nice melodies and just felt this extremely powerful sensation as I played it... Something I'll never forget!

Les Knight and all - there’s a time and a place folks... I found Terry’s restraint made this piece even more powerful.
But then I’ve just listened to Terry playing the piano in the next church and found myself feeling the same as you lot! Fortunately Terry obliged.
It’s the contrast between instruments, song and playing that did have me come back to this...

Brilliant Terry. I’m not a religious chap but I love the hymn The Lords My Shepherd.
You're a good man Terry Miles.
The organ that you're playing is an electric organ. The actual pipe organ, with the console behind the glass doors, is beside it.
Do you know this church? The organ has obviously had a recent rebuild (to judge from the case); and so, may have been supplied with a portable console, such as is to be found in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
@@HagiaSophia1952 You can clearly tell that the sound is not the real pipe organ, it's not even a good digital organ. I cannot understand how people can't tell the difference.

@@deaganjones4666 I think it sounds nice. Are you suggesting the original organ sounds that many orders of magnitude better than what we're enjoying here? Then say it that way.
