Dear Mary. Thank you for this wonderful recipe! I live alone and don't have an oven. I have an air fryer that I do my cooking in. I tested this in my air fryer, and after several tries, I finally was able to make it in my air fryer! It is so easy and so delicious. THANK YOU!!!!!
This is the best bread ever! I modified it: spelt flour, stevia (3-4pkg) + 1 tablespoon raw honey, milk substitute (1/2 milk sub + 1/2 water).....fantastic! I had to proof it for 1.5 hrs but it was so moist it melts in your mouth. Tried it with whole wheat (less proof time) and is incredible. Will never go back to kneading etc again....this is the best bread I've made. and so easy. I love, love this.....thanks Mary.
I’m currently baking this bread! I substituted Texas pure flour 7 grain & seed from Texas pure milling and instead of 1 1/2c whole milk. I substituted 1 1/4c whole milk and 1/4 c of white Mountain probiotic Bulgarian yogurt made in Austin with good old Falfurrias, Tx butter. Oh my goodness I just made this, and OMG. it's amazing. So good that when I added toppings to my slice, I took them off because it ruined it's greatness. IT DOESNT EVEN NEED BUTTER ON IT! It's soooo great!!!!!
Trying this out today! Ok, this was very easy to get ready for brunch. My kids loved it. I have to say though, one of them said he liked it but he still likes butter more than bread, lol!
This was delightful. My grandson and I cook and bake together when we can. He is 11 years old and we’ve been doing this since he could stand on a step stool. I cannot make bread but U are a GENIUS. Today i watched this recipe and did all that you said and my bread came out like if i am a Baker. I used Bob Mill unbleached flour but i find the bread raised to much in the ovén, even though i let it raise just to the level of the tin. Thank u very much
Mary, this is my first time ever making/baking bread! Been wanting to bake bread for a long time but I was not into putting my hands in a lot of gooey dough! I love the way you put this bread together. I used powered butter and milk, mixed with a little oil (butter) and water (butter). My bread turned out perfect!! You were a great inspiration. Also my hands are weak (occupational hazard) so this is a perfect recipe for me!!!

I can't wait to try this in the morning, perfect timing as I made my own butter for the 1st time today (inspired by you) & I said to the children it needs home made bread now to fully appreciate it's lushnuss 🤣 I'm having to use gluten free flour as my son is coeliac & it's just been easier for me to bake with his flour as I also have MS & was finding it difficult to do separate batches of things. I tried your herb crackers the other day using GF brown bread flour omg they tasted just like the Hovis digestives ~ I can't thank you enough I've even just started my 1st fermentation of milk & water kefir & am itching to do the ginger bug as I love ginger beer. My apple cider vinegar is underway too ~ I think I'm just working my way through your videos. You truly are a godsend, as just before the new year I'd said I wanted to get back into more traditional cooking & started with mince pies, quiche & Xmas biscuits oh & Welsh cakes (although I've lived in England 40 + years now) then by chance I happened along one of your videos & I've started a whole new direction in my kitchen... Hi again Mary! I made this bread again after making cream cheese and used whey instead of milk. The only thing is that I had to add a bit more liquid. It came out fantastic!

I would love to make this! But now a days I have cut the carbs in my life and regular flour is out. Wish I could find something this easy using almond/nut flour. I may just have to treat myself to a small piece tho! Maybe bake in mini loafs and freeze for an occasional treat. Thank you, even tho I am low carb I love your videos.

For folks like me who are avoiding added sugars, I've never had a problem with bread not rising because I've not added any sugar (half glucose, half fructose). Apparently, it takes slightly longer (at most a couple of minutes, usually a couple of seconds) for the yeast to digest the starches in flour (starches are glucose plus a couple of weak hydrogen bonds), but I've never even noticed a time lag. If I do want to test the yeast before using it, i.e. to make sure it's still alive, I just use a teaspoon of flour. P. S. Apparently yeast can't digest lactose, so the milk doesn't make a difference one way or the other.

This sounds like a really good recipe. The thing I was wondering is, will it work with 100% whole wheat? My husband and I eat nothing but whole grains.
Hi Julie, it will work with whole grain flours but will be slightly denser. I show how to make a similar batter bread with whole wheat flour but I do lighten mine with a touch of all purpose flour to mimic what our ancestors did in the middle ages where they would sift out about a quarter of the bran and the germ to create a lighter easier to digest bread. But yes, follow the video link I share in this comment and if you go with 100% whole grain flour add a bit of extra liquid. Maybe about 1/3 cup. I love your channel Mary, I really appreciate it if you give the list of ingredients on the side, my bread was salty when I use one and one half teaspoons of salt. 1 1/2 tea spoons, was it the right amount.
Okay, I'm making it tonight to eat with the stuffed peppers I'm making. I'll let you know how it works out :) Well...it took over an hour to rise. After the first 30 minutes of nothing, I put it in my dishwasher (turned off, still warm from today's dishes). That did the trick. Then baking it - there is no way to thump the bottom while it is still red hot, so I baked it then I had to bake it some more because it did not sound hollow the first time. Overall, a good bread but more time consuming then I thought.

I was hoping you could tell me where you got the nice cutting board in front of you? I have limited space to prepare foods, and it is so frustrating. I thought a stove top cutting board would help give me some much-needed space when baking/prepping. I've been searching Amazon, but for stove top cutting boards there's only 2 I found but wanted to check to see if there are others that would be more suited for what I'm looking for. Could you direct me to one like yours? I would appreciate it very much.

I tried this tonight with our dinner. It was a hit! There was only one problem...now my hubby wants fresh bread every night, LOL

I cannot make bread but U are a GENIUS. Today i watched this recipe and did all that you said and my bread came out like if i am a Baker. I used Bob Mill unbleached flour but i find the bread raised to much in the ovén, even though i let it raise just to the level of the tin. Thank u very much

Mary, this is my first time ever making/baking bread! Been wanting to bake bread for a long time but I was not into putting my hands in a lot of gooey dough! I love the way you put this bread together. I used powered butter and milk, mixed with a little oil (butter) and water (butter). My bread turned out perfect!! You were a great inspiration. Also my hands are weak (occupational hazard) so this is a perfect recipe for me!!!

I can't wait to try this in the morning, perfect timing as I made my own butter for the 1st time today (inspired by you) & I said to the children it needs home made bread now to fully appreciate it's lushnuss 🤣 I'm having to use gluten free flour as my son is coeliac & it's just been easier for me to bake with his flour as I also have MS & was finding it difficult to do separate batches of things. I tried your herb crackers the other day using GF brown bread flour omg they tasted just like the Hovis digestives ~ I can't thank you enough I've even just started my 1st fermentation of milk & water kefir & am itching to do the ginger bug as I love ginger beer. My apple cider vinegar is underway too ~ I think I'm just working my way through your videos. You truly are a godsend, as just before the new year I'd said I wanted to get back into more traditional cooking & started with mince pies, quiche & Xmas biscuits oh & Welsh cakes (although I've lived in England 40 + years now) then by chance I happened along one of your videos & I've started a whole new direction in my kitchen... I'm hooked Thank you from the bottom of my heart 🤗

Hi again Mary! I made this bread again after making cream cheese and used whey instead of milk. The only thing is that I had to add a bit more liquid. It came out fantastic!

Hey Mary! This recipe looks like a keeper to me! I'm definitely going to try this. Organic bread is sooooo expensive at the store. Making the batter bread would save me TONS of $$$! Does this freeze well? I could 'stock up' my own bread for meal prep lol... 👍🏾👍🏾

2/8/2021 - I ended up making the No Knead White Sandwich Bread recipe that you also showed. So easy! My husband said I could make all of our bread now, but as a teacher, I told him I might do this once a month and just batch bake and freeze. Thank you for making the video and the printable recipe!

I would love to make this! But now a days I have cut the carbs in my life and regular flour is out. Wish I could find something this easy using almond/nut flour. Question: have you tried a whole wheat version of this? I would love to do something like this with my sprouted flour
For folks like me who are avoiding added sugars, I've never had a problem with bread not rising because I've not added any sugar (half glucose, half fructose). Apparently, it takes slightly longer (at most a couple of minutes, usually a couple of seconds) for the yeast to digest the starches in flour (starches are glucose plus a couple of weak hydrogen bonds), but I've never even noticed a time lag. If I do want to test the yeast before using it, i.e. to make sure it's still alive, I just use a teaspoon of flour. P. S. Apparently yeast can't digest lactose, so the milk doesn't make a difference one way or the other.

This sounds like a really good recipe. The thing I was wondering is, will it work with 100% whole wheat? My husband and I eat nothing but whole grains.
Hi Julie, it will work with whole grain flours but will be slightly denser. I show how to make a similar batter bread with whole wheat flour but I do lighten mine with a touch of all purpose flour to mimic what our ancestors did in the middle ages where they would sift out about a quarter of the bran and the germ to create a lighter easier to digest bread. But yes, follow the video link I share in this comment and if you go with 100% whole grain flour add a bit of extra liquid. Maybe about 1/3 cup. I love your channel Mary, I really appreciate it if you give the list of ingredients on the side, my bread was salty when I use one and one half teaspoons of salt. 1 1/2 tea spoons, was it the right amount.
Okay, I'm making it tonight to eat with the stuffed peppers I'm making. I'll let you know how it works out :) Well...it took over an hour to rise. After the first 30 minutes of nothing, I put it in my dishwasher (turned off, still warm from today's dishes). That did the trick. Then baking it - there is no way to thump the bottom while it is still red hot, so I baked it then I had to bake it some more because it did not sound hollow the first time. Overall, a good bread but more time consuming then I thought.

I was hoping you could tell me where you got the nice cutting board in front of you? I have limited space to prepare foods, and it is so frustrating. I thought a stove top cutting board would help give me some much-needed space when baking/prepping. I've been searching Amazon, but for stove top cutting boards there's only 2 I found but wanted to check to see if there are others that would be more suited for what I'm looking for. Could you direct me to one like yours? I would appreciate it very much.
