Another thought for the solar grenades is... Sniper lanes. Enter the lane. Throw grenade then counter with scout rifle. Most players aren't confident enough to snipe when their vision is obscured by the flames emitted from the grenade. Thanks for another awesome video!

It is important to note that the Solar grenades only apply a burn on the initial impact, the 70-something, that damage gives them a 7 damage tick and is affected by Viking Funeral. The damage over time from standing in a Solar grenade after the initial impact, the 19-something, isn't a burn and won't give a burn either, so getting damaged by that won't increase the damage of any other incoming damage. It's important to know that cause you'll notice that if you throw a grenade pre-emptively before a shotgunner, the impact doesn't damage him, he runs through, gets damage by the area-of-effect damage, you'll see that you won't get that extra sidearm damage. So that's how that works
a couple weeks back the lineup for the heroic playlist had airborne, solar burn, and specialist. the amount of damage you can dish out was horrifying. popping super in the bond brothers strike with a solar fusion and just dropping solar nades everywhere was great; just bunny hop around and literally carpet bomb the boss arena. i also swapped out touch of flame for the hover ability(cant remember what it was called) and had susanoo. great fun even in a strike that is normally a pretty big pain when solar burn is up.
Steel Me too..they were very good.. they still kind of suck unless you're TV I wish Viking Funeral lasted a little bit longer though.. they would be fairly viable then but currently you can only get 1..maybe 2 seconds worth of damage once you're done with the throwing animation. I think sunsingers need some love definitely..a few small tweaks here and there would be all they need. I realize this would ruin the point of using Heart of the Praxic Fire or Apopthesis Veil a bit but our abilities should be instantly charged as soon as we pop our super. Golden gun, Sunbreakers, Arc Blade, Nova Bombs, Stormcallers, Fist of Havoc, Bubbles...none of these have a waiting period to use them after the animation ends. Combine that with the longer VF effects I mentioned and return firebolts to their original activation times/radius and Sunsingers would be balanced. They would be much more helpful in PvE with these changes as well. Thoughts?
I've been using sun breakers for the last few weeks in sixes and pvp. I've like them enough to glass needle two tier 12 rolls with hand cannon and scout reload perks. Great video. I found the build very effective to counter rushers. Their health is usually low enough after runnin through a name to mele kill.
in his video, cool guy said that its effective because people aren't expecting it. I think that's kind of sad. sunsingers in the crucible went from extremely dominant to pretty rare :( plz bring them back, bungie
I've always loved these in rift. You pop radiant skin in rift and you can literally lock the enemy team out of their own rift. I like to pair these with a telesto for double area denial.

I used them a lot until my friends started to be annoyed by the distraction of having it in their way; they wanted me to use fusion grenades more, which made me try to get use to those. Most people have silimar on though, so it's an iffy thing to use.
wish you tried these out earlier because I don't use sunsinger without these. it's so fun to spam solar nades and it shuts down revives, rooms, hallways, etc. and I ran with every warlock subclass this weekend on twilight gap

i remember when they first came to year 2 at the same time universal came back. That 1st ay and following month or two i would use them similarly to how you were saying. i won my very 1st rumble match with those gauntlets and the universal and would you believe it was on crossroads of all maps. I ran the whole in and around the building using mostly the long hallway. i would just throw the nades not hit them necessarily, i would just make a walll of solar grenades where they couldnt even see down the hall. thats when i would come warlock skating as fast as i could through the flames with a lightning fast melee and universal combo. lol At that time I never rushed with my warlock before. I didnt know what i was missing.
Sunbreakers are really good for wrath of the machine to deal with the thousands of dregs and vandals on vosik and death zamboni. It was also really solid for kings fall to add a bit more damage to the ogres on oryx, or to deal with the taken on golgoroth due to the predictable spawning.
Another great way they were used in year 1 was in the abyss in Crota's End. You just spec for discipline and keep throwing grenades at your feet and the thrall/knights don't touch you. Also, they are actually still pretty good now, because of the viking funeral tweak. On the Death Zamboni you can spam them and it works pretty well
Also I strongly recommend trying the trapper/predator build on nightstalker if you haven't already. Datto posted a video using them in trials and he actually did really well (trapping rezes and stuff like that)
TV, any chance you could do a side arm comparison video? I know bungie added new archetypes in rise of iron but I have no idea what the pros/cons are of any side arm. You seem to know your stuff when it comes to them!!
This used to be my go to build and I decided to try it out again for iron banner. It's a fun build and pretty effective, especially against shotgun rushers and campers.
I've been using this build for a month or so just because it melts shotgun rushes. Another playlist is excels for is salvage. Watching people melt as they try to shutdown the relic is hilarious.
I have been using the gauntlets since year one. My favorite gauntlets for warlock. What I love doing in PvP is using Sunbreakers with Memory of Felwinter (lose super, gain extra grenade and melee). I know I get double grenades with that memory but I love the longer lasting grenades. I use Touch of Flame and Viking Funeral. It switches up the gameplay and is really fun to use.
I used to run solar nades when my team and i were playing a lot of rift. Solar nades used to be very effective to lockdown orbs in 3's and punish shotty warriors.
I'm pretty sure that viking funeral only activates on the initial damage the solar nade does when you throw it on a surface and not on the damage it deals over time. Nonetheless, they're still really good and I enjoy this build a lot.
Bey the Leedler this is true..3 seconds of Viking Funeral is not enough... how long does smoke blind/hurt/disorient you? Same with flash bangs... suppressor grenades, keen scout/being hunted..etc.. the class needs reworked a bit to make it useful again

before viking funeral got nerfed I used these a lot because by the time someone realized they were in the solar grenade it was too late and viking funeral would burn them out. you could take out whole crews in control and rift. IMO they were stronger than firebolt nades.

But the thing I wanted to point out here is that the only way to activate the Viking Funeral extra damage perk is upon the initial mpact of the grenade. If you throw a solar grenade and a target later runs through it, they do not take extra damage. The target would need to take damage from the initial impact/explosion when the grenade lands for the target to take the extra damage. I wished it did activate from them just simply running through the solar made, that would definitely make them more viable in PvP. And if they buffed the extra damage burn from 2 seconds to 4 seconds. that would be boss..

The Burning Man build has been a favourite of mine since maybe the April update. It's great for control which is where I play mostly. Folks who say Sunsinger is garbage, might be right in competitive play. But for everyday PVP use it's great
I think between you, Aztecross and Blessious, my Destiny life now feels balanced...great stuff. Imagine running Memory of Fellwinter...you get your Super 3x Max in 6v6, but if you run max discipline and those gauntlets with the Fellwinter Artifact you reign down fire nonstop.
I use the Sunbreakers in the raids. Awesome with the damage bonus and long lasting burn. Especially in WotM. Toss em at the spawn points. Watch those damage numbers fly. Good for boss damage as well. And I think they look friggin awesome.
How did you feel fighting people who equipped the artefact that nullifies any play you make before you make it? i was having a good time with this build (saw coolugy running it) until I started meeting people who got to say 'no' to my class, though no virtue of their own except going into a menu. It felt completely anti-Destiny.
I run this class all the time. I went back to firebolt nades which are still pretty strong and still takes opponents out of the fight for at least 3-5 seconds. Which is a big deal in trials where team fire and team play is important. People always question why i still play fire lock. I tell em because im different and i can do what i want. LOL!

Im pretty sure that viking funeral does not activate unless the an enemy get hit by the initial detonation of the grenade. Bungie needs to fix this.

This is one of my favorite builds for Control and Zone Control. It can be very effective in Rift as well.

I'm actually more surprised matador wasn't 1 out of every 3 kills of all weapons. The hole weekend I only saw one team not running a matador.

I usually use Sunbreakers for any PvE activity with solar burn on. They deal a crazy amount of damage to anything that isn't likely to move far.

tv it's awesome you're using solar nades! i use it quite frequently especially in supremacy, you should try it there if you haven't done it yet

When I play 4's and excotics are allowed I always use the sunbreakers! They are amazing for holding of zones and choke points
