That is a very fast and impressive car... I still can't believe you can get a car that's so track focused, street legal. As an Australian, an old bloke, I can still remember coppers handing out defect notices because you had the wrong valve-caps on it. "How the fkcu can that be legal, son? It's got stock 5 inch rims on the front but the ones on the back must be at least SEVEN! How in the name of FKCU did think you could drive THAT on the road?" That's a space-frame car, like a NASCAR. Bits & pieces of the body may be based on original exterior panels, but many of them are not, they're glass or carbon... It rolls up the highway on 27 inch drag bags... It's not quite a FunnyCar because the body is not a one-piece hinged at the back job, it has doors like a road car, but the way it's made, is exactly like a funny-car. To me, it's like walking around naked, with big flashing lights and arrows pointed at you junk - "Hey! Copper! Look at this!" How the FKCU can you drive a car like that for 200 miles up the road? Try that in Australia, and it'd be like one of those mass school shootings. The Pope would issue a press release providing blessing and sympathy for the victims... Donald Trump would fly in to tour the devastation, bring his daughter wearing a "FKCU THAT!! - I did. " T-shirt....
I'm in Idaho & converted my belly tank lakester to a street legal 2 seater. It has no fenders, the exhaust is so short you can see the turbine wheel of the turbo inside the pipe & it's still capable of running 250 mph.
Your observations are so funny and so spot on! You reminded me of what it was like tearing around in an EH Holden with a "built" 186 with triple Webers in the '70's trying to outrun Mr Plod. Although we don't have the freedoms (insanity?) the 'Muricans have and we live in Nanny States (at least Victoria is and the other state are not that much better) we're still not as bad off as many other countries. Overall, as a fast road car enthusiast/modifier, It's not so bad down here in Shitsville. 😊
I spent all the 80's in Sydney driving an XP hardtop with a turbo'd cross flow that was legal. Now it seems like turbo'd Barra's are getting stuck in everything, so are they not legal?
This is my idea of a true street car. Those cars on Street Outlaws that can’t drive casually isn’t imo a real street car. Being able to drive track to track and 1000 miles without a trailer separates a real street car from the imposters.
