Little brother, I'm 59 and have drag raced my whole life. These interviews with old school guys are some of my favorites of your videos!!
😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Absolutely! Same here ,little younger I'm 55..ugh! But definitely old school! Love these interviews with the old cats!
Salute 2 MR SMALLWOOD UR A LEGEND go BROOKLYN GO
these black old timer car guy racers are some of the most interesting of all
Should make a movie or something!
I agree given the era back then of Black vs White can you imagine the feelings they must have had when they won races against white drivers? 🤔
@@goleafsgo8496, & what they had to go through. Acquiring parts, being able to race without handicaps, all kinds of stuff.
Back in the 60s and 70s there were quite a few black street racers in my area and I was friends with 90% of them.
It was all about cars and racing skin color never mattered. I'm still friends with those guys.
We all respected each other and had a great time.
I remember seeing the Smallwood cars at Englishtown I think it was.
He reminds me of all the guys I raced with back in the day.
Great video and very entertaining. Thanks for the history of the Smallwood Bros. I'm glad you are keeping the history alive.
@@richardturk7162 "it was all about cars and racing skin colour never mattered". Seems pretty straight forward but of course we know not all looked at it quite this way? Must have been a very cool time to have been in the street racing scene. 😃
Dude the history your able to record and share for generators to come is on another level
Love hearing these stories. We love, and are so proud of you grandad!❤
Yes, love the stories!
Love these old school interviews and the black history of early drag racing, off and on the track.
As a Brooklynite I can go and see some of these streets that they race in Brooklyn. Red Hook, Linden Blvd and Fountain Avenue.
The building that housed the Oldsmobile dealership still exists on Flatbush Avenue. The neon sign is still hanging there from the second floor!😮
Thank you so much for these interviews. I'm an aspiring 3rd gen African American racer from Upstate NY, and I've heard some of these stories from the old days from my dad and uncles. But to hear about it from the actual people is amazing. I can't thank you enough for bringing the Smallwood brothers Mutt Brothers & all to us. Much respect
Man, you are quickly becoming my favorite channel, love the content and how respectful you are to your guests!!!
Super proud of you, Papa Smallwood! Fabien's lineage is full of God's wonderful mercy, grace, love, gifts, talents, and abilities! Love you!
Man. Its so good to see Mr Smallwood is still with us.
Love these trips down memory lane🙏...Blessings to Will
Terrific story he’s only three years older than myself, and I’ve went more into drugs, but I always had racing cars on my mind going to the dragstrip plenty of street racing and then now I am back in church, doing terrific and loving the Lord❤🙏
thank you for these interviews with old school guys. THIS is the history we need to preserve and keep alive!
I’m 73 now and I remember these guys. I would sure like to get a copy of that book to read.
I had a yellow 55 nomad called "screaming canary" and used to race down in Red Hook down by the water side , I think it was 23rd street and first ave, back in 70-71. I remember you coming over with your Olds442. I was to race this green 57 chevy called "the Green Hornet" owned by a postal worker. We line up, take off and 3/4 down the street, right tire blew and I lost control and rammed sideways into a wall. Bent frame and all I could save was the engine and tranny. Man I missed those days and in 74 joined the marines. Great racing !
Thank you I really enjoy your interviews with the racers from past. Keep up the fantastic work.
A Great True Success Story Of It’s Time 🙏Never Heard It Before But Loved It… Mr Will Smallwood Was Definitely In The Click
We are blessed to still have him with us no joke.
Parker, thank you for these videos. I love the history and lore of it all.
I remember the Smallwood family, I grew up in Washington hearing the stories
Mr Will i have max respect for you as a bigdog Racer & a Smart good hearted loving man.Thankyou for the uplifting words.
For the love of cars, For the love of the lord, these things bring us all together the way life should be. Thanks for this great interview with one of the great racers whom understands this still today! "Wicked" Will Smallwood, A legend in the early days of Pro Stock, which it's origins formed from competitive street racing.
Ronnie Sox was a hell of a guy!!
I built Sox and Martin model cars i believe Sox and Martin was strong people
Ayyyyy love hearing about Connecticut dragway, rip it died in the late 80s
Wow...thus interview was a walk down memory lane. I was 7,8,9, yrs old through the mid 70's and my pops would take us to Maplegrove, ATCO, and Englishtown for the drags...and he LUVD Jungle Jim. I always liked the SBR colors....GREAT interview.
I like how you interview and slow people down and get details
You are becoming my favorite content creator. I am the author of the book you are holding, along with Wilbert Smallwood and I also wrote the book "Hole Shot" with the late Eugene Coard. Eugene's son Allen and I are friends
Cars, cars, and more car stories. Love it. It's a blessing to hear from the "Legends" Especially the from the black men, and women that have made their "Stamp"& "Stance" at doing what they love to do. Beautiful story with lessons to grow by.
Great video!! So much History in street racing History in USA and muscle cars going back over 50 years. Good to see black street racers telling their stories
Never heard of this man or his story. Glad you where's it with us
THANKS
I love these interviews with the pioneers of racing. The unsung heroes of the sport❤ keep these coming 💯💯
I really enjoy your interviews with our "founding fathers" of street / drag racing. Lots of great stories ..... 😊
Great video I really like listening to Wil .
Some legendary people. dropping some big names . My uncle Frankie in Hawthorne New York was running a 63 SS 409 and mugging people. Old school days🤘🏻😁
Hated to hit the like button it was on 442, love all the pics of the original centerline wheels with fewer rivets, great interviews with legends
Those are Cragar super tricks.
My grandfather worked at the shop on Flatbush and ran the streets will. That was rockaway, flatlands, cypress hills.
Drag racing is amazing
That Cuda is still around, I know the guy who owns it today. It's actually the 71 pro stock car that had updated 72 grille and taillights, you can tell by the front turn signals in the valance. The car that sold at auction isn't that the real 71 car, it's a fake. So the real 71 exists and it's waiting it's turn to be restored
Love this types of videos ....keep up the great interviews....👍✌️
THANK YOU JAMES ❤😊❤😅❤
I could only imagine buying and riding in cars with Sox &Martin . love hearing these old school racers tell their stories from the streets to the pros Now I wanna go In The garage and finish up my race car lol
Great, Great. Great. Keep'em coming Parker. 👍👍
cool history
Great video! Strange that I never heard of Wil Smallwood. Knew if the other racers mentioned in the video but not him. My first time going to a race was Fall of '74 at Englishtown. Glad to see the sucess that he had. Heck I only live about 1 1/2 hrs from him now!
This is my favourite so far had to watch it twice great stories from a real street racing legend, also a great message at the end
I found this story to be so remarkable that I purchased Mr. Smallwood's book. I loved the fact that he pursued his dreams in spite of many obstacles. Also, knowing that he turned his life around is an inspiration for me.
glad to see the man was not keeping him down ..
Great interview. I remember reading about all these guys in an old magazine years ago when I was a kid. They should make a movie. E-town - RIP. It's right what he said, cars bring people together.
Awesome... just a great man who did great things in a time when things wernt easy for a man ... Awesome life I love these stories and people like him who achieved great things in an uncertain time..
Backyard Barn Finds for the drag racing history and Stapleton42 for NASCAR history. The best real grass roots history with real guys and gals who lived it and made it what it is. You guys fill in so many gaps in the history and evolution of these sports. A person would never learn any of this by watching any amount of sports event coverage. The stories of friends and families and the support structures of these people is so encouraging and spotlights the importance of relationship and trust. None of the advertised greats that made their sponsors millions of dollars would have ever been heard of if it weren’t for the challenges they faced from these people. Thank you for digging up the past and sharing it with us. This stuff enhances many of my older memories of automotive sports.
Absolutely amazing ❤thank you for the excellent stories
Yeah... Jungle had a Pro Stock '69 Camaro and then a '72 Vega wagon....
Man - what a great story and interview. Good job man! I read this book years ago but great to hear it from the man himself! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Wilbert, that’s some great memories you just shared with us. 👍😎
Racing is fun thank mr. Wil
Loved the content, need more like it
Beautiful story on a true pioneer@@
Bless wicked Wil Smallwood !
These interviews just keep getting better and better. Really enjoyed this. Thank you.
I love video getting History of drag racing. 😎😎😎
Great Interview with an interesting Racer- both on the Street and on the Track, I do recall seeing him race at Englishtown- but never saw him street race...even though I didn't live far from NYC, but I was young when he raced- as I'm only 66 years old now.
Brilliant.
Big brother i don't understand you got 33,000 views 1,700 likes these are great videos i grew up looking at these cars in the mid 70s to the early 80s as a kid keep up the good work and get them likes up
Great shifter there . Could bang that 4 speed .
Would not have this racing history save for your work and the internet. I knew the names and some of the history of all the other big name racers mentioned, but never heard of Smallwood Brothers, Brooklyn Heavy , Mutt Brothers or Ronald Lyles. A good bit can be due to regional exposure, I'm from the south, so Northeast, Chicago, LA street or regional racing wouldn't register. Great job interviewing your guest and the whole series.
So glad I grew up in 60s 70s. How different the world was.
I like this they had alot of fun there like friends for ever
That is true because if need anything somebody there help you out
i really enjoyed this episode
Just proves race dont matter. The car bug bites us all real deep. Great to hear exactly how i was as a kid growing up around classic cars.
AWESOME LISTEN !!! 🙂 GOOD MAN * reminds me of Garlits
I live in Washington Nc, i remember hearing these great stories from the Smallwood brothers, good times
When I was young I would go with my grandfather to Wilber’s family’s tire shop in old ford NC. These are good folks. We actually still buy tires from there time to time.
This was cool as Hell! Great interview with a great guy. Thanks. 👊🤘💯🏁

Soo good thank you both
Loved every minute of this!
That camaro was at a aamaco gas station in Wantagh Li for years. It was owned by two brothers Freddie and Eddie. They tried to sell the car for a strong Micah price back in1989
High Price
The car rotted out so bad, they ended up crushing that car.
Thanks for the Great information and interview

Great interview ❤
Great story. Great interview
Thanks for the great video!
Really enjoy your videos, intelligent questions and great retention of facts. I grew up around street racing near Philly and Will took me back to a lot of friends and wild times. I got to know Grumpy during those days, I'm 70 now but can remember running on Front St. at night in Philly like it was yesterday. Will reminded me of home🥲
