    Every time i put grease on my carbontex washers it makes them slip too much and then i have to tighten the drag more than usual whch makes the drag action stick and them let go in an action which isnt smooth. I also use cals grease and just a tiny bit. So its interesting to see you use grease. I'm skeptical now and end up put them back in dry since i feel that they just work better that way.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm that’s interesting man I never seem to have that problem 🤷🏻‍♂️ Running them dry is definitely going to give you the max drag, I just like a tiny little shine on them to help prolong their life is all. Sure you can see in this video how it’s just a tiny tiny tiny amount, don’t want it on their thick that’s for sure. Nothing wrong with running them dry if that’s how you like em. 😊🤙🏽

    • @FishingEasternCapeSA
      @FishingEasternCapeSA 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @WhereWeWild my only reels i haven't tried are my vanfords. Perhaps i should try again. I also used a very tiny bit in the reels i have tested. I tend to run my drags on the tighter side and i always wondered if thats what gives it the jerky action when greased.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @FishingEasternCapeSA Oh yeah maybe… I tend to keep my spinning reels set pretty loose because I’m using much lighter line and smaller hooks that don’t really need much force to stick em ya know? Can kind of just lean back on em if that makes sense. Also if it’s a big girl biting I like to know they won’t be able to break me off on the first turn hahaha 😎😁🤙🏽 My casting reels I tend to run more locked down.

    • @FishingEasternCapeSA
      @FishingEasternCapeSA 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WhereWeWild im actually the same as you, i dont actually put a lot of pressure, only initially to set the hook. im scared of pulling the hook out if its not hooked perfectly. I think i tend to really tighten when i need slow the fish down and tire it quicker. Else it takes forever. It's only really the big fish that test the drags i suppose. i feel i have more control over the carbon drags without grease, as if the grease tends to make the response more exponential rather than linear.

    Question, I just bought and returned my first Vanford 2500 because of handle play. I had them open up another one and it wasn't as bad, but still noticable. I was wondering if you noticed any with yours?
    Since it screws into the pinion gear I'm wondering if there's a tolerance issues with this batch of reels or a shimming issue. Because I was getting about 1/32 of play left to right / in n out of the reel body and about the same amount of play when reeling/wiggling back and forth.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hmm. Think you mean the main gear. The pinion gear sits in the middle of the reel where the shaft runs up through it. I have the 3000, but there isn’t much play in the handle at all just a little in the knob.

    • @grayman5271
      @grayman5271 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WhereWeWild Oops, yes that's what I meant. I was thinking of it like a car's ring and pinion gears, but still got them mixed up lol! I thought the 3000 and 2500 have the same body, just different spools. So that's why I asked. Glad to hear your doesn't have excessive play.
      Also what type of fishing do you do with yours? I'm thinking of try a 3000 next time. But I mainly intend to use it for finesse bass fishing, so I don't know if I need the extra line

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@grayman5271 Yeah same body but the 3000 has the T shaped handle. I’ve used it for senkos, ned rigs, drop shots, little swimbaits, all finesse type stuff. Same weight as the 2500 (minus the line) so it’s really just if you like the T handle feel and or want more line on it.

    my anti reverse moves in both directions :( Any tips what I did wrong

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hmm I haven’t messed with the anti reverse on this reel, but maybe search if there is a video specifically taking one apart? Before I did that though I’d make sure there are no other obvious problems when taking the reel apart before I opened up the actual anti reverse, like sand or anything out of place or broken that could be causing issues, it may be something way more simple causing the problem. It’s extremely rare that I ever have to take apart the anti reverse on any reel.

    • @JP-ot5km
      @JP-ot5km 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I just fixed it an hour ago. There are 6 springs inside of this anti reverse and 6 ball bearings. The springs need to be inserted with the small arm pointing towards the outer frame. In the end the other side of the spring has a longer arm. So here is where it becomes tricky. You might put the ball bearings in pushing the springs‘ longer arm to the right each which looks in the end more right then pushing the arms to the left. However, pushing them to the left is the right way to do it. Sorry for my bad English I am not native. Small mistake big consequences. 😊 thank you bro you helped me a lot.

    • @WhereWeWild
      @WhereWeWild  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could need a new bearing somewhere. Possibly a gear. Idk if you hear any grinding going on. I would follow this video step by step and just rip it all apart and inspect everything man. Make sure there is no sand or dirt in it. Make sure all the bearings are still good and oil them. Make sure the gears aren’t damaged and grease them up. I would just take my time and check it all out, usually something like that is fairly obvious to spot when you take it apart and inspect the parts.
