- I recently bought an old Marshall AS80R mostly because I was interested in the ability to sing and play guitar at the same time. Yes, I know that there are a ton of great amps out there like the Fishmans or even the newer Marshall soloist series, but this one was inexpensive costing me around 250 dollars used and I just felt like trying it out.
I will say right off the back I do really love this amp. It sounds great and the ability to tweak the sound by eq, attack, reverb, and chorus effects is pretty awesome. I believe this amp is from the mid-90s and was made in England and the reason I am making this video is to show you how good it sounds.
If I'm being honest I would much prefer a newer Fishman because of the ability to have Bluetooth connectivity to add backing tracks, but at a base level as a singer/songwriter, this is a great amp to gig with.
The amp boasts an output of 80w from the speakers and has 2 10" Celestion speakers which sound fantastic. The downside of this amp is that it is honestly pretty heavy. If you're planning to go busk in the city this might not be the best option because of its weight alone.
