I appreciate your videos as well as many others I've been studying since becoming caregiver to my 90-year old mom in 2022. My daughter is an RN with lots of geriatrics experience working in Alaska at the Pioneers' Home. My mom has been recently moved to a group home and her dementia is advancing rapidly. I sometimes refer to the 7 stage model & staff don't know what I'm talking about. It's frustrating feeling like I have to play teacher explaining dementia when my daughter & I have been to college for caregiving but it's their job right now. Sheesh. Now we're dealing with stage 7 and I'm so glad my mom has a living will.

I read something beautiful: a lady with dementia has as guest her daughter. Upon seeing her she said”I don’t remember your bane but I know that I love you”.

One wrong word just ruined that sentiment.

This describes my father perfectly. After his meltdown (as I call it) where he threatened to call the police on my mother, then demanded me to do so (which I outright refused) and wandered to a mini mall nearby, he had to be put under psychotropics, which was something his gerontologist wanted to avoid. He has problems recognising his wife (aka my mother) but not me. He doesn‘t have Alzheimers though, he‘s got vascular dementia.

Can you tell me how to calm my mom down so I can bathe her without a struggle. Also how do I get her to stop talking and settle down.
