Engine couldn't find a crushing line because there are too many pieces on the board and the number of calculations increases exponentially with that and the depth as well. Most of those deeper lines also probably contain many pieces which makes it even harder to crunch through.

Même pas un français ;-) I had similar problems as White last month in Chiang Mai (Bangkok Chess Club tournament) in the Advance French, where Black played the c4 variation closing queenside. I tried the f4-f5 pawn break too,...,but cannot put my pieces correctly in order..so I lost miserably. I learned later from one of many books about the French Defense, that better is with g3-Bh3 (with or without h4 to counter g5) and sometimes with a knight moving to e3. It's difficult to wander in the jungle of variations,..,and I understand why Anish gambited a pawn in the Boleslavsky variation (with f4/Be3).

On the subject of perpetual checks, I've noticed that the Lichess engine (Fairy Stockfish) is programmed to avoid allowing itself to be drawn through a perpetual check. All I can think is that it calculates who is winning, and if it thinks FS is ahead that it cannot permit a perpetual check. I have actually defeated F.S. on many occasions when it refused to accept a draw by perpetual check, thinking it could win, and it then proceeded to make some overly aggressive move that blew the game altogether.

Un proverbe bien français. Qui aurait été un meilleur titre de la vidéo je pense. Autrement dit, il peut se permettre de jouer n 'importe quelle défense , être inférieur et gagner quand même vu sa classe.

I think after black knight captures pawn on f7, white queen captures the newly hanging knight on e6 with a check. This makes the material even with white in a strong attacking position and tempo. It appears after the queen checks the king, the only move is king to f8. If the black queen blocks the check, it leaves the black rook on c8 hanging which will be captured by the white queen.

While White can be and is better, it’s very hard, even on the highest levels, to push through and make use of that advantage- frequently , White will just overextend, oversacrifice, and end up worse after which Black just cleans up.
