      Hehehe that's why when I see gammbits and weird traps going to happen that I dont know the counter moves I always try to take the game out of preparation and if the player is not better than me the game results in a fair game.

      Very much so he plays with the spirit that a new player has when they're really smart and they feel like they can outsmart everyone else instead of playing positionally and then soon realize that a lot of counterintuitive things happen to be true in chess and a far less intelligent person with a little studying or some experience can defeat you

      @@XxxXxx-br7eq except there's nothing counterintuitive about chess. It's true that experience is more important in chess for humans, but that's really because even the brightest humans are pretty weak in pure calculation. So you have to rely on a large database of experience to not waste time calculating in every position.

      Yup, Dubov, though a magician, is more cautious and create more prep move (so the attack is not instant but building up) while Tal is just straight up maniac.

      its all woke kind of fancy feel good millennial talk n all but Tal did play like this all the time and all chess GMs have studied all past games including Dubov... and it helps GMs to know what works and what doesn't... that is why it is Tal reborn....

    I don't think I've ever seen a more inspired current player than Dubov. His fast-paced attacking is fun to watch and his stoic style shows just how much command of the board he really has. None the wiser, you'll thank him for a perceived blunder then step into the trap he lays right in front of you! This is just awesome chess!

    On bishop captures, it actually wasn't a completely new game. It was played before by Dubov earlier this year (in August) against Matlakov (2671 rated), where he played much of the same line even continuing, and won that game. Another game was between Viktor Kiss and Imre Fancsy, but that was in 2013 by two 2200-2300 players.

    Every time there's a Dubov recap there's usually brilliance and then consistent respect and accolades in the comments and references to how much Magnus draws from him etc. With the greatest respect to the man I would be grateful of any insight as to why he isn't ranked even higher than he is.     I started following this game as the second of the two pawns sacrificed in succession. Dubov on 7+ minutes, Anish on less than 2 minutes. "This looks like a good game."

    @3:30 can somebody tell me how Black is breaking through if white plays fxe5 instead of dxe5? Because with fxe5, we have the e3 bishop controlling a key diagonal, preventing the queen from accessing it.
    Let's say black continues:
    1. ... Qh4+
    then
    2. Kg1 next move the white queen is coming to f1 to help out with defence

    At 4:29, Stockfish 14+ at Depth 28 (lichess analysis board), gives Qd5 as best move but immediately gives black advantage after that move.

    The player against who a lot of grandmasters have their best game of the year or tournament is Anish Giri. like Mamedyarov, Sarin, Duda .... in the past and now Dubov. Is this just a coincidence? It seems like Anish turns out to be the "Wonderwall" for quite a lot of players. It should be something about Anish's playstyle.
