As a Scot I found it a hard place to visit. I am descended from Robertsons, Gordons, McGregors, and so many others. It's old bloodlines but they have given my strength to fight my my own particular battles - thank you.
I felt that too. 3rd generation from Scotland.
My husband and I went to Culloden last month. He'd never been and I went 20 years ago not long after I'd read the books. The Fraser clanstone was there among all the others but this time, 20 years later, the Fraser name has been partially worn out because I suppose people touching it, there's also now a little fence around it because people were sitting on it, having picnics on it... the whole site is a war grave for goodness sake, why can they not have some respect.

I always wondered about that. I get the wanting to touch and maybe a picture , but selfie 🤳 ? Nope not with a memorial of any kind. And sitting or standing on one. (Only if it’s made to sit on like a bench)
I was there in the ‘60s.
It was still a wild place then.
They ‘did it up’ some years later and it became a tourist attraction.
Now because of Outlander it’s become more so.
The day I was there I was virtually alone.
It was cold a misty.
I could feel my Scottish ancestors all around me.
The hairs were standing up on the back of my neck for some time after.
I lived in Culloden for several years as a teenager. The battlefield is a very poignant, emotional place to visit. There is also a well in a nearby forest called the ‘Clootie Well’ where many of the injured were taken to clean their wounds. I am now married to a Simpson, which is part of the Fraser clan. My husband wore the red Fraser tartan kilt at our wedding.

A very moving scene in Outlander! So memorable! Everyone who knows the show and what will happen still cannot help but feel the sadness and emotion that Claire felt! It breaks my heart every time because we truly know how much they loved each other🤍💙😢🏴

We know it's an old episode but it's nice to see it again.
I went to Culloden and saw the battlefield. This was long before this series. I wondered at the huge horror of that badly chosen battlefield.

She never goes to Callodon in the book, she tells Briana and Roger she’s not feeling well and tells them to go without her and they do.

That's NOT Jamie's grave. That's simply a marker commemorating a clan that lost soldiers there at Culloden. There's one for each clan that was there. No one's buried there.
The actual place is Drumossie Moor, only the battle was called Culloden.
They thought he died but he escaped. Claire found him years ago later bnb in Edinburgh. He was a printer

It's what Claire believed to be Jamie's grave at that time.

At that stage, she still thought Jamie had been killed at Culloden. This is the clan stone at Culloden Moor.
This is before she goes back in season 3. Technically in time he is dead but she does see him again in her lifetime.
no, he didn't die. they were separated by time and circumstance for years; when she found out that he survived, she goes into the past to find him....and the saga continues
