Thanks Ray...I did not know about this putty, so far i have not needed it and might have used JB Weld. When I lived in the UK I had a Royalex Pyrhana Prospector 16. Since I have lived in BC Canada Iown a 16 foot Faber Prospector in Canvas and Yellow Cedar, more recently a Hellman Scout 15'9 in Eco Poxy lay and today I am excited to add a Esquif Pocket Canyon 14' in T-Formex. Keep up your great work Ray, much appreciated!
Ray thanks for that. It takes a village, in order to get all the tricks to repair a boat. I hadn’t heard of that putty but plan on looking it up, and getting some. It seemed to be a better fix than the JB Weld and less of a mess stuck to your fingers. I absolutely love that you did this in your house.
Always good sharing ideas Lisa. Yep it is a good place for boat work/repair but thank goodness the TV remote works so we don't have to climb over the canoe every time we change channel.
Canada and Scotland. Best places to canoe in the world. I'm here in Ontario and we have over 250,000 lakes in the province alone. Without canoeing, where would I be. JB weld makes a product called Waterweld. Would do the same. Good video 👍 thank you.
Yep totally agree with Canada and Scotland: two tremendous places. I should be back out to Canada and Ontario again in 2022 having had two years cancelled with Covid. Off to do the Missinaibi (again) and maybe a lake trip with the family. Anyway yep I have come across Waterweld and I agree with you on its use. Thanks for posting
@@mandevillejulie4532 I just checked on amazon.ca and they have this which I believe is exactly the same: J-B Weld 8277 WaterWeld Underwater Epoxy Putty
Trouble is that if you get to hot the Royalex can collapse. Hot water for a dent when the boat is whole but in reality I have never tried hot water bottles but that would be my first choice before a heat gun. But all of that is only opinion on my part.

Yep it is good stuff and I keep it in my repair kit on trips. Thanks for your kind words.
Great demo Ray, Cheers from Ontario Canada.
Many thanks Dan. Appreciated

One of my main hangups for boat ownership is not knowing the correct repair and maintenance techniques. Stuff like this removes a big hurdle for me.
Glad it is of help.
Basic repairs and such are a great idea for vids. Thanks. Much appreciated.
Glad to help. More to come (slowly)

I like the Purdy.
Just as well (I think)
Thank you Ray! It is something that I am very interested in knowing.
Very welcome
I use this stuff too! Works on fiberglass as well. It's called "liquid steel" cuz it's so tough. I think it's like an epoxy.
Thanks for the info
Do you buy this in Canada? If so, where from?
@@RayGoodwinCanoe Could I find this repair stick in Canada?
@@mandevillejulie4532 I believe I got it from NAPA auto. But you can probably get it at Canadian Tire or Lordco

Ray, thanks again for the informative video. I hope I don't need to know this any time soon. ;)
Always worth knowing. Keep well
This is a great video! Have you tried a heat gun instead of hot water bottles? I’m curious how efficient it would be in comparison.

Handy to know...did you get permission before using that kitchen knife😉😃
In writing. Always cover myself

My pleasure 😊
Is this the same stuff as PlasticWeld?
I think it is and tried to check but could not confirm.
@@RayGoodwinCanoe I’ve used it in the past to repair a lawn mower plastic ‘grip safety’, worked much better than I expected - for once!
My canoe got a hole in it! Will this work with fiberglass?
Yes it will.
👍👍👍👍👌✌🙏😊
Thank you (as ever)
Sorry Ray but we only did as we were told !!
Absolutely. I was annoyed with myself for sending you that way. But I got two videos out of it 🤣
@@RayGoodwinCanoe Note to self: don't use my own boat if taking lessons from Ray. :D
@@philschaefer4651 That's terrible! But not an unreasonable thought 🤣
@@RayGoodwinCanoe not to mention pretty unlikely in my case. A canoe is a bit large for a carry on.
Bruh, just use duct tape.....
I did use duct tape to get the canoe home. This is a more permanent repair.
