Can you not take constructive criticism without getting defensive about every feedback you receive?...
1. RTO's most important rule is not make alterations to the vehicle in a way that may jeopardize the safety of the passengers. Any additions would obviously require RTO permissions. Since you are already defending...you might want to show sources or RTO rules stating that toilets/kitchens are not allowed on commercial vehicles per se. But here's my dilemma with your never ending excuses. Companies like RelaxCaravan have toilets so I am just wondering. And again, I am not talking about their luxury interiors. So lets not go back into that again. and What does RTO exactly have got to do with the correct usage of space, having an organized structure to place everything or have a decent VAN LIFE? Having a piece of plywood sticking out of the back and throwing in a gas stove does not imply a "kitchenette with all cooking equipment". U have completely missed my point here. Phrases like ECO SYSTEM, VAN LIFE IN INDIA, CULTURE so on and so forth are nothing but excuses for not doing a better job.
2. Restroom - Anybody will be willing to clean the toilets if its a necessity and with provided instructions. I don't think people will refuse to be hygienic. It is your responsibility to find a solution(NOT MINE), rather than say "will you be willing to clean?" I am sure people are more than willing to take responsibility than hold their pee in. And this is exactly the kind of attitude which is wrong. You ask for feedback from people on how to improve and whats lacking, but when the suggestion is given, you come up with excuses.
3. U have a completely wrong idea about luxury, ecosystem and being self reliant. U say your caravans have basic needs and so it is self reliant. But then again you say we have to look for toilets so doesn't that contradict the whole idea of being self reliant? You have got materials from Hampi that took you 15 days to get that ceiling done. Now that's what I would call unnecessary luxury and waste of money and not wanting a toilet.
Kindly don't give a wrong impression to people about how having a toilet and proper usage of space is considered luxurious.
Affordable doesn't have to be disorganized, wastage of space and ugly looking stuff.
Maybe if you take the time to listen to people's suggestions more often, you would be arguing less and investing more time in making improvements.

Please do not misunderstand us. We are not neglecting/arguing/making excuses regarding points mentioned by you and others. We are surely open for feedback and criticism has been the foundation on which we have built our company. If not, we wouldn't be responding here on a public platform. We respect each individual's views and we learn a lot from each feedback. We have not reported your commented. Apologies if we have. That was not our intention.
The reason we are repeatedly saying the same thing again and again is to set realistic expectations of Vanlife in India. We have been very diligent to take all the factors into consideration before finalizing these designs. We have taken 6 months to do R&D, test runs and surveys to come up with designs that would suffice RTO rules and keep the budget low (which is the main vision of the company). As a stakeholder in the industry, we would be more than happy if infrastructure is developed in the country for the betterment of not only caravan interiors but to enable caravan tourism in a larger scale.
1. RTO:
There is only 1 page for campervan rules in The Motor Vehicle Rule Book of RTO and this book was last amended in 1989. There are provisions to build kitchens and restrooms but in that case, quarterly taxes for the vehicle becomes 5-6 times higher than what we are paying now. The posh interiors don't cost much, however the products for kitchen units and restroom units costs a fortune. There are many other cost related and maintenance related issues that come along with it. Most importantly, safety. For example, having a kitchen installed in the caravan has many safety issues with respect to fire. Caravans with kitchens wont be allowed in many of the protected areas. So we made kitchenettes so people have the flexibility to drop the gas cylinders at check points in-case they are entering protected areas. These are all 1-2 examples we are quoting to let you understand things from our side. We agree that there are many more things (MANY MANY) we could accommodate in it. But for the purpose of Trippy Wheels, we came up with this design to give people a taste of Vanlife.
2. Restrooms:
Majority of the surveys we did showed us people are not willing to clean the restrooms along the way. Also, after speaking to caravan owners with toilets, we have understood the real ground level challenges. Vanlife being so new to India, people are still traveling only for shorter duration in the caravan (4 days average). During this time they have taken out for vacation, very few are willing to even cook let alone cleaning restrooms. If there were waste dump stations in the country where by pressing a button, we could clean out the waste tanks, we would surely add this feature onto our caravans. We have lost many bookings because we don't have restrooms. We are consciously willing to take this loss as opposed to having a restroom. Without infrastructure if we have restrooms there is a risk of people dumping waste in the nature/public areas which would be potential hazard. We have looked for alternative portable toilets but people prefer using restrooms in cafes, restaurants, our basecamps or even the ones at petrol bunks. People prefer our basecamps so groups like families/all girls/bachelors can safely park over night and taste local cuisine or do activities which otherwise they would have missed.
3. Self-sustaining Vanlife:
We have a long journey ahead of us to achieve this 100%. We have never claimed we have completely achieved this with our caravans. However, we can confidently say that our caravans have decreased the dependency on multiple things like rooms & restaurants while on the road. We are working hard towards making it more self sustaining with all the feedback and reviews provided by various people. Hopefully now with increased interest in caravan tourism we can make all these things come to life sooner.
Vision of Trippy Wheels is to provide affordable and flexible caravan travel experience. This means, keeping the rentals low and ensuring people are able to go off-roading in the remotest of places. With this in mind and several test runs on Indian terrains, we have come to a balance between features, safety, flexibility, practicality and pricing. We are a drop in the ocean of possibilities with regards to caravan tourism in India. Hopefully we will be able to create a wholesome ecosystem for the same in the future. We are happy to say we have begin to deliver the taste of caravanning to our customers.

@@TrippyWheels I appreciate the fact that you did take the time to look into each point and provide details for why each service is the way it is, whether it is related to budget, tax reasons, low maintenance, etc. Appreciate the honesty.
I have stressed on facilities, usage of space and many other features because I believe no matter which country you live in, the expectations/dreams shouldn't be compromised due to the lack of true details/knowledge. Tons of people are looking upto your service since it is a great concept at an affordable rate and it's right here in our city. Providing genuine reasons behind the existing setup and lack of any services you provide, will lead the target audience/customers to understand about the services better. Instead of the "This is what it is in India " approach.
I have invested my time for these comments solely due to my love for travel. I have learnt that with the right knowledge and innovative thinking, it is possible to create incredible experiences (without compromising) with a small budget.
PS: I am not sure who has been responding on this channel on your behalf, but clearly the current responses on many posts have been very defensive and none of it have been informative enough like how you have mentioned here in this post to support your statements. Now it's all here and makes better sense.

@@panchumaddy your total comment covered everything... Which was in my mind. Why to spend 15 days on that art work to be installed in van and make the vehicle even more costly? Even luxury buses now adays have started having restrooms.... A true caravan can easily store black water for around 1 weeks and kitchen other bathing water also called grey water, will have different tank. There is no such push of a button to clean up the washroom or empty tanks. You have to do it manually but not touching with hands.

What about cleanliness after every use ? During the current COVID situation I am apprehensive using hotels but would like to understand what measures are taken after every use to ensure cleanliness in beds and inside vehicle.

That is one of the reasons why van life is not realistic in India, we don't have enough campsites. You can surely park in Dhabas where the trucks park overnight, but that is very risky.
It's beautiful and looking comfortable.is any possibility to have a compost washroom in the van.

Sadly caravans have not taken off in India due to the facilities. It's a huge market that's untapped.

If this van is going to register as a Caravan, you have to pay luxury tax. Otherwise they will loot as big as they can.
This van is not so perfect, there are many caravans that come with Fridge, AC, Toilet, Bathroom.
It almost cost 25Lack ( depend on our customisation)

No, we have a network of basecamps where you can use restroom facilities. Also during the journey, petrol bunk or Cafes or restaurant restrooms are always available.

So many places! 🤩 Mostly South India but we have visited Sikkim also. 🚌🏵️

Better maintenance friendly items should have been used for making shelves etc I feel. Very small Cockroaches and similar insects will stay at hidden places. Also moisture accumulation is a problem sometimes...my opinion only. I appreciate your efforts..

We have tieups with 40+ locations in South India for restrooms and parking, if needed. AC can be used when the vehicle is running. You have fans when the caravans are parked.

We didn't want TV because we want customers to be with nature. TV they watch at home too. 😊
We have centralised AC in the van.
Restrooms are not practical India because there is no infrastructure support. But we have Basecamp tieups in multiple locations. 😊

The metal framework weight could have been reduced but the other parts are not as heavy. Ceiling is just fabric and we needed some colour on our trippy vans! 😇

You have no washrooms in your camper, a major draw back.
No infrastructure in the country to maintain hygiene unfortunately! Mainly no place to dispose hazardous waste. We have tie-up with homestays, camping sites and hostels at many locations where one can safely park and use restroom facilities for a basic amount. We are taking baby steps to bring the caravan revolution. 🌻

What about small washroom?
Sir, it's too much inconvenience with respect to maintaing the hygiene without proper infrastructure of caravan parks in the country. Instead, we have tieups with homestays and hostels as basecamps to park safely and use restrooms. 🚌🌸
What about the heating issue..?
As you can see our ecosystem is getting worst day by day...
And we should also concentrate on building ventilation insulation type stuff inside the van, and solar power system on top of the van with water tank etc..
We have insulation built in all our vans for temperature and sound control. Solar system is on the charts and will come up soon. 😊
We have kept only the essentials in the van with vision of Trippy Wheels moving towards self-sustaining travel option. 🌸 With luxury comes over consumption and directly contributes to damage of our ecosystem. 😇
