Just wanted to share, I’m the pastry chef at the zoo in Fresno and I made this recipe, but adjusted it slightly for cranberry orange scones. My boss was so impressed by them, he said they are the best scones in all of Fresno. It just meant the world to hear that since I’m just getting started in a professional kitchen, and I want to thank you both so much!!! I’m truly always inspired and driven by this channel.
Diana Rosas leads out the pecans and chocolat and add orange zest (maybe light squeeze of the same orange into the egg when you mix it) and cranberries
The way Ina is so casual in the way she cooks makes me feel so comfy and at home :O also shes 70??? What, she looks fantastic. I want to cook with her lol
My favorite parts of this video are the ones where Carla looks at the camera after Ina agrees with her about something and is basically saying "OH MY GOD IT'S INA AND SHE LIKES MY IDEA" Carla is all of us hahaha
This is the direction Food network should have gone in instead of competition shows. this is the reality TV show i'm here for. Also, I would not be able to compose myself long enough to bake scones with Ina Garten.
I love Barefoot Contessa, but I really love Ina in this BA episode. Her kindness and authenticity really comes out because of the less produced/more naturalistic style that BA uses for their videos. Hope she comes back!
@@jasoncomeau1 hilariously ironic when you guys don't even know the full story and just read whatever gossip rag without fact checking. ina garten's PA turned down the kid, not ina herself, due to a scheduling conflict. she didn't even know the kid existed.
I finally figured out why I LOVE this cooking and food channel!!!! They don't cut out the mistakes or irregularities when they cook! Like, it's real and organic. Not perfect cookie cutter. Samins episode had me RoLLinG with laughter and they made mistakes, but kept going! Ina is such a sweetheart and like sophistication personified BUT looks like soooo much fun!
I totally get the memes about Ina. She's extra, but it's the right type of extra. She's also clearly a great teacher, and genuine. Also, Ina is a pilot and used to be a nuclear budget analyst, and has an MBA...so she's also a badass.
The fact she was able to stay so composed, professional and charming is a skill. The Ina Garten was my "gateway drug" to all things food since I was 13. Carla, you're amazing!
This video is a great example of why you should use weight measurements and not volume. You don't need any special techniques when measuring. 100g is always 100g.
Yes, otherwise Cup and spoon measure varies around the world not to mention how the ingredient is scooped or dispensed into the cup or spoon. Weighing grams is exact, every time without variation.
Unlike Carla who at every chance she tries to show how knowledgeable she's about her craft, in a pushy way though. Not impressed , Ina is awesome as usual however.
*Ina* “If you don’t grow cocoa beans in your own backyard garden and have it cultivated and prepared only by the hands of Swiss virgin maidens to be made into authentic Lindt chocolate...” *store bought is fine.*
Those are Irish type scones as opposed to the English ones. They’re bigger and the surface is rougher. Also, they have little to no sugar in the dough. The english ones are smaller and have a smooth top. They’re also a lot sweeter and crunchier. My favourite are raspberry and white chocolate. But to anyone who doesn’t know, they need to be eaten with butter or cream.
You need clotted cream for your scones. I had them a long time back but the flavour still remains fresh in my memory. I personally like scones with berries along with chocolate, it gives you this tartness that cuts through the sweetness of the chocolate, if it's say white chocolate or milk but with dark chocolate they accentuate the depth.
Ina did her thing and Carla did too. She really asked those small questions that came off as her being “technical” that other bakers may have watching this. So small things like a crack or something wouldn’t freak them out. Great video.
Me either, I re-read it like 5 times to try to memorize it so I can follow it to a T, in hopes of not messing it up and it not coming out right!! Especially with baking. Has to be exact.
I loved Ina’s show growing up! My teenage self watching her show getting inspired and then replaying on the tv in the kitchen looking then looking for ingredients like “ooo my dinner party (of one 😂) is gonna start soon let me set the table!” She made these biscuits for ice cream that cook the dough on the stove then you bake it and it just puffs up with one big cavity in the center for you to cut open and add ice cream. That was the first recipe of her’s I ever tried.
It’s so interesting to watch the subtle differences between people who developed their cooking-for-entertainment skills on cable TV and people who did so on TH-cam. Such a cool video!
I love when Carla tells the story about her hot-handed classmate 😂😂 You can count on a retelling with any butter-centric baking recipe. She’s the best.
My grandma used to watch Barefoot Contessa all the time. She recently passed away from dementia. I'll never forget waking up and seeing her in the kitchen cooking while having her show on. I love you and miss you grandma.
