If you look at the orginal map, 12km from Kenya-Somalia border is Garissa county and to be specific Ijrara constituency. So Lamu residents should know this and stop claiming land that doesn't belong to them. That is also a bare land with a small fishing community, so no resources to fight over. I was there in 2005 and the locals who are Aweer said that they are part of Ijara District and because there no direct road, they depend more on Lamu than Garissa, but that doesnt give away their land. That has been inhabitable partly due to insecurity. To be honest, these faces aren't the faces I saw there. The people were light skinned and locally called the 'The White Aweers' who are gossiped to be a crossbreed of Portuguese and the locals. These are mostly Kiunga residents ferried there. It's more of a skit, than a presentation of facts, but the reporter and the MP come from Lamu, so nothing true is expected from them. There is another problem between Lamu and Garissa called junction near Bodhai, where Lamu posted a Chief, despite the residents getting services from Ijara. Infact schools are funded from Ijara and there was a documentary on this community before.
Stop spreading propaganda the land belong to bajuni even both the neighbouring villages in somalia and kenya are originally of bajun community. Kiyomboni, ishakani na kiunga ni vijiji vya kibajuni. Wakati mashashifta uliisha musijaribu kule mavamizi ya kishifta ya kisiasa.
