    This is a review of the 2020 Mercane Wide Wheel Pro. I compare it to the 2019 Wide Wheel and the now defunct Boosted REV. I must say for $1299 this is one of the best all around scooters in it's class. It makes for a great commuter and also it is just fun to rip! My only complaint would be the thin board. I like a wider platform but this is long enough where I had no issues.
    Mercane took everything from the 2019 Wide Wheel and made it better. Every comment was addressed. A new screen, Dual brakes, Stronger neck, bigger battery. This scooter really is fun!

    Thanks for the video! I totally agree with you about the Fluidfreeride. I bought my Kaabo Mantis from them and they have been nothing short of amazing. I am sure you would be able to get same day service from them if you lived near them. I was considering the Widewheel Pro as I liked the original Widewheel and the Pro fixed everything. I went with a Dualtron Compact for my solid wheel power scooter and love that thing. I get too many flats and wanted something with solid tires and suspension. The Widewheel Pro would be a great scooter for anyone wanting more excitement from their scooter.

      Go for the pro. It's far superior to it's predecessors. They reinforced all the stress points where the 18' & 19' had run into troubles. It'll carry you just fine . Range is fantastic and its pretty portable considering what you gain in speed and suspension. You wont be disappointed

    Thanks for the great comparison. I just bought the upgraded 2019 WW, the throttle on mine is great, upgrade the rear brake with the zoom xtech caliper and it brakes fine. Let me ask you, does the stem on the Pro feel more stout or is it about the same as the 2019?

    • @MidLifeToys
      @MidLifeToys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly it feels about the same to me. I have never felt the stop wobble on either of them unless you don't have the hand screw tight.

    • @dalycooley955
      @dalycooley955 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty solid. The circumference feels almost double the 19'. Different shape as well. It is also a little shorter in length vs the older model. They added some extra bolts to the base of the stem too.

    Love mine... I'm heavier than the recommanded weight limit (235). No problems so far. Have already 325 miles on it. Wife takes it too. She goes to her office to water the plants and stuff. 12 miles she rides. Weather permits, she'll never use the car to go to the office...
    Now, I'm better with the throttle. At first, really got my neck snapped by the sheer acceleration of this scooter... Rode too much sluggish rentals I guess :)

    Hi man I fell in love with the wide wheel Pro a few days ago. And I am really thinking of buying one. So I stopped at a local shop in Antwerp Belgium and the guy was not a fan of the riding style but I will be the judge of that once I test is hopefully this friday.
    But he also told me that the scooter was not waterproof at all, and this scares me a bit. Where I live the weather sucks. Although I am not planning on riding it in the rain. The chances are huge that I get a random rain shower while out on a cruise. Have you had any experience with this and I would really like your thoughts on this.
    Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great video!

  • @rkoppie115
    @rkoppie115 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is a bit slippery on wet roads and your coat will get wet so not the best for that. And you have to ride more carefully keeping in mind it also affects breaking. Brakes are ok but not in hilly terrain. You better replace them. There are alternative calipers and easy to replace just google it (I have the older model though). Suspension is actually more than great, never any flat is a real advantage. Only gravel is a bit uncomfortable. Fixing leaks on little tires like this is no fun. I have no issues with the jerkiness but I press the control by using the lower part of the thumb. It is a bit heavy but I am a guy only having to lift it up a single set of stairs so it is ok and I guess it is just about the right compromise between weight and sturdiness/battery capacity. Best buy ever.

Buy the throttle on AliExpress and take it's sensor and use it on the Widewheel Pro original throttle. That's all. Let me know if you need more details

  • @lexsteel12

    I understand that the wide wheel pro has solid tires, instead of pneumatics? How is the ride over bumpy terrain? I am actually dinging this scooter, but I wish it had full hydraulic brakes, instead of mechanical ones. And I also wish it had a little more range, perhaps, a bigger battery. But even with those issues, I think it looks pretty cool. I have a Frankenstein of a scooter. It weighs 110 Lbs. And, unfortunately for me, I live on a walk-up, second floor. This is why I am considering this scooter. I understand is not too heavy?

    • @MidLifeToys
      @MidLifeToys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't worry about the Hydraulic brakes. This thing stops very well! It is a toss up about the suspension. Rides better than a scooter with no suspension and pneumatics but you can still feel bumps.

    About a month ago I purchased the horizon from fluid free ride. For a beginner scooter I absolutely love it but I do want to get something else. I am considering The wide wheel pro. However I’m having a harder time justifying spending an extra $500 on a scooter that can only go 2 miles an hour faster And technically has less of a range. For an additional $400 I could get the turbo wheel lightning. As more of a beginner electric scooter rider maybe I’m not ready for that much power. Just a little frustrated that the WWP At $1300 doesn’t offer a little bit more speed. As someone who owns the scooter your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Do not allow an inexperienced scooter rider have a go, they may get hurt and your scooter may be damaged. Does any body think that slow moving ie 5 to 15 km per hour for 4 hours affects range? Is the widewheel really a smoother ride than the Boosted Rev? The widewheel has suspension but it also has solid (foam) tires. I had read opinions from others saying it wasn't that smooth of a ride on rougher (city) streets. Lack of waterproofing and less maneuverability due to the wide wheels make this model less of an ideal choice for us city-dwellers, as I understand.

    • @MidLifeToys
      @MidLifeToys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So the Rev was a little smoother over small bumps you didn't feel/hear them as much due to the pneumatic tires.. However over bigger bumps, or jumping curbs the Wide Wheel absorbs the bumps a lot better. It is easier on your knees and spine.

      Yes, but it has suspension to sort of make up for it. Good for commuting.

      The suspension makes it more than bearable. For the money, the WW Pro is one of the beat scooters in the mid-tier market.

    I’ve got a Boosted Rev, a WideWheel Pro, a Zero 10x and a Xiaomi m365 (yes, i’m very much embracing my midlife crisis).
    My Xiaomi (hacked the speed limit) is for quick trips to a grocery store or just as a scooter to lend out to friends and fam.
    The Boosted Rev is very solid, it’s built to last, because of the low deck it is just fun to ride and my go to scooter.
    The Zero10x? I dress up for that one. Full face helmet, gloves, kneepads, elbowpads, the whole nine yards. It is just insane! Very torky, very fast, but it doesn’t feel as ‘safe’ and reliable as the Boosted Rev.
    As for the Mercane Widewheel Pro dual engine? Naahhh. Don’t like it. The board is a bit narrow, the throttle is not very finetuned, it feels like a toy. Not as much as a toy as the Xiaomi, but still: it feels not finished. I really don’t like the display, it has a very unfinished look, low quality. I can imagine some people will love it, the suspension is good and also battery life is good. One other thing that is really bad about it? The stand... It’s just rubbish. For the amount of money they ask, they could’ve at least mounted a decent stand.
    My 2cents

      I hear you. I think for the market that it is after the Wide Wheel Pro fits it well. Now the market is getting more and more crowded with new options popping up everywhere. Still in my experience the Wide Wheel is a solid reliable commuter.

    • @Teasebeats
      @Teasebeats 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      MidLife Toys : I agree on the Wide Wheel Pro is a solid riliable commuter. It most def is. I think you get a lot of scooter for the price and it certainly is not a waste of money. If 1300 is what your budget then the Wide Wheel Pro will give you excellent dollar to scooter ratio (whatever that maybe). I’m happy with my Boosted Rev, just wish the battery would laat longer, i’m searchin’ for someone who can build a bigger battery of can give/sell mee directiona on how to do that. I think in the end i will just have to ride it till it dies on me.

      @robertoalvareztostado8150 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Clarke hahaha What do you want to do underwater with a Wide Wheel? hahaha Maybe we can modify some parts and make a underwater vehicle with lot of power and lot of underwater milage. Just convert the tires in a fan shape and put all electronics inside a sealed box. "Mercane Water Wheels" Also we must add a oxigene tank into the vehicle to be a "Ready to Dive" product. Also a nice wide angle googles and the air flow connected to the vehicle tank and a rescue package that inflate instantly if you need to go up in an emergency.

      You can save so much buying direct from Ali Express and get the newer models. I have the CLE Panasonic battery version made in May and for the the hundreds of dollars saved otherwise spent paying for a warranty via a domestic reseller with older stock you can buy the new parts as required. Just my 2c cut out the middle man.

    • @timothygermann780
      @timothygermann780 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a rev and love it. No suspension but the tires are large and soft with excellent grip. Corners like a porsche rather than an SUV. It's very fast for its weight and has the best throttle and brake control in the industry. Build quality is also top notch. Range sucks and of course already out of business.

  • @busterhoodstar4447

    As an example, the Boosted Rev is like and Evolve Carbon GT skateboard with street wheels. The Widewheel is like an Evolve Bamboo GT with AT wheels.
